VolleyChick 1 Posted July 27, 2009 Hello, I've attached a couple of files that I need as a vector - help with all or any would be great. My question is about Inkscape, is it easier to learn to do vectors with it or Corel Draw 4? I have Corel but Im a GIMP user so I don't know how to use it yet. Thanks, Di

sarconastic 29 Posted July 27, 2009 volleychick, those images you had would be very simple in Inkscape. Steps. Open or just paste image into Inkscape. Select the image so that it is active. click on "Path" on the menu, then on "Trace Bitmap" (it doesn't have to be a bitmap for this to work, I do jpg's all the time) A box will open, the default settings will work most times for simple images. Just click OK and it will trace your image. THe traced image will be right over the original. Click and drag it away, then delete the original picture if it looks good. Save the file as an EPS by clicking "File' then "save As" and selecting "Encapsulated Post Script .EPS" from the pull down menu on the right, and naming your file at the top. You can then import the file into Signblazer or any other software you like and edit any nodes you need to adjust to make it perfect. Inkscape has a pretty good node editor in it , that I prefer to clean up vectors i have just created. Good Luck Kevin
