Hey Vinyl Backing... Let Go!!!!

Recommended Posts

;D

I know this must be a user error...

I'm using Oacal 651, and bgs application tape.

I cut my stuff, weed the stuff I don't want, and then overlay the application tape.

The part I cannot seem to get right is how do I remove the vinyl backing properly to get it to come off without the remaining vinyl?  My vinyl backing won't let go...  (With enough effort / fingernails I can get it, but if I do small detailed stuff, I can see me screwing up more than I would wan't)

Whats the trick?

Thanks

Rob

My trick #1..don't cut too deep, when my blade is too deep/pressure too much those smaller things really seem to want to stay put.

Trick 2... REALLY FIRM PRESSURE from your squeegee........as long as you aren't tearing the transfer paper, you are ok.

Trick 3.....don't peel the transfer paper from the  backing...peel the backing from the transfer paper.  In other words, flip it over so the adhesive is up, and pull the backing off leaving the vinyl and transfer paper flat.  Seems like a little step but man it makes a huge difference.

You might also try a different transfer paper, I have had great luck with both main tape brands and rtape that uscutter sells.
