Using Plotter Feature to Create Wargame Grid Maps?

Recommended Posts

I was considering buying a US Cutter Raindrop for my hobbies. But after a few conversations here, I have been persuaded to look at larger models.

One reason I was thinking of going with a larger unit, like a 50" Refine was to make grid terrain maps for miniature wargames.

My friends and I like to make up very large battles. The games are played on a "map" that is blocked out in a one inch by one inch grid.

I was wondering if you could use the plotter feature and print out a 1 X 1 grid on banner material (or something like it) in a 4' by 8' size.

The maps look like this...

The plotter would only be used to print the 1 X 1 grid, not the underlying images.

A game board the size of a full sheet of plywood would be amazing!!

Do you think that this is possible?

If not, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks so much for your time and help!

- Marc

If you're talking about just 1 sq in boxes then yes it should do it no problem.

Thanks for the reply!

What about drawing it on banner material?

Do you think that is a good material to make it on?

I see you live in Ohio. Where abouts?

I live in Akron.

I honestly don't know about drawing it on banner material.  I'd say you could of you could find a sharpie or something the wouldn't smear.

I am in Caldwell, straight down I-77 exit 25.
