kenimes 42 Posted August 29, 2007 Hmmm Bigmac has the same issue and he has a 721 and a 365. Tonight he is going to start swapping parts from his good 365 to the 721 to try and isolate the part that may be the culprit. As soon as I here from him tomorrow, I will let you know what he found, unless he beats me to it.
darkorns 0 Posted August 31, 2007 So, what's the verdict on this? ANY NEWS?
Popeye 0 Posted August 31, 2007 I'm new at this but... have you tried putting a pen in and have it draw a bunch of angled lines...or even plot the same file.. or try using a different font. That might eliminate the blade, to much pressure and.. who knows
kenimes 42 Posted August 31, 2007 Bigmac answered the phone while disassembling and snapped a wire. :wall: His verdict will be a bit delayed. He is going to keep me posted, and when I hear back, I will let everyone know what he found out. I do not have a cutter here that is cutting jagged, so it is hard for me to troubleshoot. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!!!
darkorns 0 Posted September 1, 2007 Popeye, putting a pen was a great idea, however, it just confirmed how big this problem is, take a look at picture: http://www.codardesign.com/cutter3/paper1.jpg And it's not the font, since it's converted to curves and appears on any sharp-angled line such as in Y, W, A... Popeye 0 Posted September 1, 2007 Wow! That's jagged Have you tried flipping the x and y axis? Looks like the bottom left corner going up is your x, flip the letters and see if the jagged follows the x or stays with the long leg of the letter. It still might be worth trying a drawing of angled lines.. ya never know it might be something associated with those letters. That make sense? What software are you using to cut from? If you need I can do a CAD drawing and sent it to you in eps or dxf format. That make sense?
Bigmac 1 Posted September 1, 2007 Got everything up and running. First thing my jagged edges were not as bad as yours, but heres what i did, switched out the carriage from my 365 to the 721 and the cuts look good. I looked real close at the carriage from the 721 and found a little play in one of the wheels, I tightened it up and reinstalled it back in the 721 and the cuts looked good. You might try removing the carriage and check if you have any play in the wheels. Please do not over tighted, whis will damage the bearing. Still can't use signcut, maybe this new verion will help. darkorns 0 Posted September 2, 2007 No, it didn't help, I've removed carriage, there were nothing loose, please see picture: http://www.codardesign.com/cutter4/1.jpg http://www.codardesign.com/cutter4/2.jpg I then opened the right panel and tighten the belt. At the end I ran test cut and nothing changed: http://www.codardesign.com/cutter4/3.jpg (this is speed 24, force 80, as I did before) Further I tried to decrease speed to 8, this is what I got: http://www.codardesign.com/cutter4/4.jpg - I didn't try this before But what really confuses me, when I increased the speed to 32, this the result: http://www.codardesign.com/cutter4/5.jpg - overall A is better and only some angled lines are affected! This phenomenon appear to angle-specific. I'm losing my mind over this and don't know where else to look. Darren
kenimes 42 Posted September 4, 2007 You could send the cutter back and I will make it good as new, or replace it for you.
volkspeed 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Any news on this?? I bought like $400 worth of vinyl but cant use it because of eveything with a slanted edge comes out jagged. My carriage is on the rails, new blades, Roland blades, blade not too much out, ect ect.
kenimes 42 Posted October 1, 2007 I replaced his cutter for him. Make sure you try everything suggested in this topic before we try a replacement.
