isometrik 0 Posted March 17, 2009 Hi, has anyone tried cutting anything else aside from vinyl? I want to purchase a LaserPoint and want to know what kinds of materials i can cut with it, i'm thinking of thickness from paper to business card. Someone mentioned i will need some sort of backing to cut paper, does paper have to be stuck to it like vinyl? can somebody elaborate on it? Is there another brand that does things like that? thanks a lot
midwaste 4 Posted March 17, 2009 People have cut paper, twill fabrics, magnet material, thin plastics for stencils, and more. You can use an LP to print and then contour cut business cards, etc. Depending on the thickness of the material, you may need a 60 degree blade. You will need a backer sheet for most of those, which is just a sticky sheet to adhere your material to, so the loose inside pieces dont fall out when cut. A lot of people use heat transfer vinyl backer sheets, I have also heard of basic contact paper being used.
tshirtn00b 12 Posted March 17, 2009 Sweet. That's good info to know. Opens up a lot of different doors to try and go down.
Fbomb 0 Posted March 17, 2009 I've cut both cardstock and clear acetate sheets for stencils. The acetate was tricky...I used paper app tape as a backing...But i weakened the adhesive first (applied it to cloth a few times).
