computer doesnt recognize...and i have no usb..?

i have bought a 12 inch plotter, and what was included was a serial cable and a parallel cable. the machine itself doesnt have another outlet, only 2. how can i connect it and allow my computer to recognize it? i conntected both the serial and parallel cables from the plotter to the computer, and it does not recognize it at all. i also installed the driver. still nothing. please help

Your computer does not need a driver for the serial or parallel connection.  The vinyl cutting software (Signcut?) will interface directly with the cutter, essentially taking over control from windows.  Simply chose the correct settings (Serial or Parallel) in the Signcut plotter setup dialog.
