  1. Hey guys! I know this will vary depending on market and area etc. This is my 1st "big" sign project and I have no idea what to price it. It's on a 4'x8' piece of steel and it's 2 sides. I initially tried to cover the steel in vinyl to have a base color, that obviously didn't work well and I wasted a lot of vinyl but I don't want to charge the customer for the wasted time. I ended up painting the steel for the base coat. I'm using 4 colors of vinyl and I've had a few things to layer. It's pretty basic with just font and a tree in the center. Any help on pricing would really help out a lot! Thanks!

  2. I actually just had the same exact problem with the same tape on a order of 75 smaller decals I just did. I re-squeeged the bejusus out of all of them and still had trouble with some of the letters lifting. Luckily the order was for a friend from school and if there's any issues I'll be able to fix it with no issues, but I will be changing my tape choice next time I order.

  3. I'm not looking for that wording, I wanted to create my own but with the "metal hand" as the outline for the wording. I'm creating a design for a professional wrestlers gimmick and was thinking about going this route. It's a free job, so I was hoping to find an easy way to throw it together....of course not. Lol

  4. Hey again guys!

So I'm working on a design, nothing vinyl related, but I could use some help. I'm attempting to use the "metal hand" and I'd like to form text to the shape. I've tried envelope text numerous times but I can't get it to form. Pic attached is kind of the idea I'm going for. Any help would be awesome!

  5. Thanks for all the help! I have some experience with Illustrator and I usually don't have an issue figuring things out on my own, but for some reason this just wasn't coming out how I was picturing it. I did end up figuring it out by using a few of the techniques you suggested and combining them. Don't mind the horrible cutting lines, i was using an old blade :P Thanks again!

  6. That's what I was doing, but when it cuts, it either doesn't give me the full letter through the object, or it does what it shows in the photo and cuts through the object.

I'm using AI CC 2015, I don't see an Extrude? Would it be Merge?

I'm going to run off a few more tests using your guys' help and see if I can get it.

  7. Hey guys! I'm trying to create a decal using Illustrator. The issue I'm having is, I have an object but I want some font to be inside and some outside of the object. I'm unsure how to get this to cut in a way that it comes out correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  8. I've had my SC cutter for almost 2 months now. I've had a few issues, but I'm working on a few yard signs and I keep getting letters that are unevenly placed. I've tried shutting down and restarting the project, resaving and importing the new file, but I still get this uneven lettering. Could someone give me an idea why? I haven't had any problems like this before, it just popped up. One photo is of the whole project, the other is just one of the words I ran off by itself to see how bad it would come out.

  9. I just recently purchased my SC Cutter and got everything installed today. I'm new to all of this so bare with me please. I'm trying to send a job to the cutter, but the process bar gets basically to the end and just sits there and does nothing. The cutter doesn't cut. I shut the machine down, turn it back on and try again and still the same thing. I'm importing the job from AI. I did a test run with the pen and it worked fine. What could be the issue?
