tape air bubbles help

Hey guys So lately I have been doing alot of 24x12 (ish) decals. When I tape them, it all looks good. However, a day later, sometimes I get some bubbles. What am I doing wrong? Also, sometimes when I tape, I get bubbles on my roller lines. One more somewhat off topic question. For transportation purposes, do you roll your decals, or keep them laying flat?

    looking for a vinyl printer/cutter

That is the machine I was looking at. I am doing this as a side business and would do a lease to own on this machine. My monthly payments would be around 200 per month on this one. My main worry is that I won't be able to pay it off. I work in the oil field, and that has kept my decal side business going strong, but now I am looking to break out and do hard hat stickers. They are a huge thing out here. Do you know what image formats this machine accepts? If it said, I must have missed it.

Differences between MH 871 on eBay vs here

I know this thread is a little old, but I wanted to chime in. This is the cutter I bought. When I first got it, it took some tweaking and learning to get everything exactly how I liked, but now, I have made enough to pay for the cutter 10 times over. Hell, 20 times over. However, I am not doing large, complex pieces. My largest I have done is 12 inches x 18 inches and it was a fairly basic design. I think this is a great starter machine.

    Looking to order some pens

Hey guys and gals I know this isn't the place to ask, but I figured you guys would know. I am looking to order 500 black ink retractable pens with my logo on them. I don't need anything fancy. I am looking for the best price I can find. What places have you all used and what was the pricing?? Thanks

tips for vinyl not feeding straight

Hey guys I have an mh 871. When I cut large items (20 inches longer or more) my vinyl doesn't feed straight. I line it up to where it's butted up against the edge and my roll is straight. By the time I am done, my roll is about a half inch away from the edge where I butted it up. It's making it a pain with one particular design that I am doing because it makes the final lines not match up. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep it straight?

I haven't tried with sheets though, I've been using rolls.

My cuts come out fine though, it's the feeding that's the issue. Unless that could somehow be related.

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="dakotagrafx" data-cid="380358" data-time="1418740787">
3 things , are you pulling the vinyl first so the machine is not pulling the vinyl off the real? How did you set your blade depth? Are you running the vinyl back and forth first to make sure you have it loaded straight to begin with.? Butting it up against anything doesn't mean it is straight

I am not pulling the vinyl off the real, I figured the roll was straight so I should be good. I thought that's why the stand had the rollers to be honest but I'll try it like that. Blade depth is fine I believe. Half a credit card and my test cut by hand was good. And I didn't feed it back and forth. I'm thinking step 1 and 3 that you mentioned should help.
  13. Hey everyone I am fairly new to this as some of you know so my pricing isn't figured out yet and I don't want to go too low. I have someone who wants 2 decals, 12 inches × about 20 inches, and 4 text pieces about 20 characters long at 2 inches tall. It's for a semi truck for their logo and Vin and dot numbers. One color. What would you charge for this? Thank you

    decal pricing question

$75 seems reasonable for everyone I have talked to today. I think that is the price I may go with. They like them done quick so I am bringing them the next day. Right now, the shops here are backed up 1 to 2 weeks they are saying. Edit: phone does not like quoting.

    decal pricing question

I will not be installing them. His cost was $150 not installed. Just a simple cut and weed project.

He paid 150 per truck for 5 trucks. I'm wondering if location has anything to do with that because this is for an oil field company.

    double cut issue

I apologize if this has been asked but o searched and couldn't find anything. Every once and awhile while I cutting, the cutter (mh 871 mk2) likes to double cut the whole image. Is there a reason for this? What am I missing?

    double cut issue

Using SCALP3 and I have photoshop and illustrator for design. I'll upload my image as soon as I can.

    double cut issue

I am not at my computer at the moment so I can't check but typically this happens when I trace an image rather than importing a vector (which I am having seperate issues with). So I would think when it gets traced it should only be one layer. I'll double check it when I get home. Also when I do try to import an image, I can't import svg or eps files. It let's me go to open them but nothing shows up. Are vectors not supported?

    Bleeding Cowboys

Does anyone else very strongly dislike the Bleeding Cowboys font? Im not only talking about for vinyl, I mean in general. I feel like it is way overused and in all honestly, I think it looks like crap. That is all.

    Bleeding Cowboys

nice facebook link and image! I didnt know so many people disliked it lol. If you are using it for sublimation I feel like your designs would be SO much better if you chose a different font and distressed it yourself. IMO, Bleeding cowboys makes the designs look cheap and trashy...

    a few questions.

Hey all. New here and new to cutting and I have a few questions. I apologize if these have been asked many times. I have a mh871 and I'm using scalp3. I am getting jagged lines so I read I need to adjust the offset and using the mh871 I read it is in the software, but I can't find the option in scalp. Also when I try to cut a small design (2 inches) the cutter likes to pull parts out and basically weed it for me, but the wrong parts lol. Is that basically a speed issue? Should I slow it down for smaller cuts?
  23. restless-rooster

    a few questions.

Thanks for the info. I thought the blade was fine because it was fine on larger cuts. I'll adjust it today. How about the jagged lines? I had slightly jagged lines on a 4 X 4 inch not very intricate design. Slow the cutting speed?
  24. restless-rooster

    a few questions.

I see the offset now, thanks. I'm just not sure exactly how to set the offset. It is at .30 right now. I'll just have to mess with it. Also it's a brand new blade. It's a 45.

    Newbie here

Hey everyone! I am a newbie from the Northern Colorado area. I am a web and graphic designer when I am not working in the Oil Field. I just purchased my first cutter, so Im sure you will be seeing me around frequently and I'm sure I will have many questions along the way! Edit - Might as well add this here...I purchased the MH871 and it came with Sure Cuts A Lot Pro. I know this is a value cutter, but I wont be printing large numbers at once. Should work well, right? I am designing in Photoshop, although I should switch to Illustrator I guess.
