Purchased stock vector license and my rights???

The way they have it worded, he can use it "an unlimited number of times" at least for one customer.

You can use the design in your logo but can't sell the file or share it for others to use in their work. They would need to pay Pond5 for the rights to use it.

    Welcome

Any ideas on how to "spice this up"

Almost like the star is too bold, it stands out a bit much. Nice idea with using wrenches to make it.

    Help choosing new software

Use make an offer, probably save 10-15$ more.
  13. Here is what I think should be on my list from searching. Anything missing or should be changed for the 1st timer? Lower cost substitutes? Siser Easyweed ~ a few Basic colors Parchment paper Teflon sheet (bigger than platen so magnets can secure it) Lint free cloth for cleaning platens/teflon sheet. Pillow/mouse pads for around seams/buttons/zippers etc. Dedicated press area Normal weeding tools Have your designs ready to cut while waiting Tshirts (picked some up at Wmart on clearance) Sticky note that reminds you to Mirror Mirror Mirror! By the computer. Spouse to weed for you since it was their idea to buy a press sooner than planned.
  14. I like the lint roller idea and we have several local Dollar Tree's. Which side would go towards the shirt if using backing?

Here is where I found the main signs. http://all-silhouettes.com/?s=zodiac vector-zodiac-signs.zip
  16. Yes, IR thermometers are in my normal tool box. Decided to pick up a lightly used Stahls Mighty press instead of gambling with a lower price unbranded one.

Who needs a professional sign maker?

I couldn't imagine what they sell, pretty sure it's not books though.

The weeding was actually quick, about 5-6 mins for the 12 signs, took a bit longer on the text. Seems like the Mactac and 631 are clean cutting and easy to weed.

Yes I have seen them, but haven't got SB to communicate with the cutter yet. Still trying to find the magic combo.

Black is Oracal 631, the other 2 are Mactac 8900.

    Oracal 8300

I have used it to wrap strobe lights for a snow removal truck, they sent all clear LED's and he needed some yellow/amber. It required heating for some of the curves and it went on with no trouble. It seems to be thicker than normal colored vinyl.

I think you took it wrong, making a fair profit had already been established. He probably has to pay more for supplies than a company who orders in bulk, doesn't have all the tools they have available and hasn't been doing it as long. So can he still beat their price? Only he knows what he wants to make. If you try to get every penny possible every time, customers will be few and far between. Sometimes making a few dollars less upfront pays off down the road with repeat business and good recommendations. Freebies should only come with a tax deduction receipt.

    Flexi HELP!!

To scale something in a picture a few things are truly needed, but for what your asking the basics will do. You have to know the size of something in the picture already. Like how he was using the stripe, says it's 12 feet and uses that as his reference. (It was not 12' btw.) Arrange>resize>enter values is how he got there I think, but the main thing is having a known size to plug in.

In the end, all that matters is if you can meet or beat the retail cost of the competitors to win the customer, and hopefully their loyalty. Offer to price match or better with proof of the competitions price.
  25. I made a coroplast sign just to stick in the yard for neighbors to see. No problems, even left it out past 10pm a couple days. Gone by Noon today and found out when I got home. How often does it really happen? I have seen the same signs in the same place for 6 months straight and they never disappear. Going to replace it and put a camera on it this time.
