  1. How does vinyl hold up against an SUV rear window wiper? Customer is getting a full wrap and wanted to add logo and lettering to the back window. The wiper is dead center and will essentially wipe across the entire logo.

Note I will be using Avery SW900 vinyl for this application.

  2. stupid question.... if I make that for a John Doe customer it would be a copyright issue, but its okay to reproduce company logos for the dealership? JW i had a dealer ask me about it and I told them I wanted approval from the company before i venture into that task...Was I wrong?

I would say that the dealership would take the fault on this. They have legal access to marketing materials and logos...whether having one of us do the job or having Jeep provide the logos would be the gray area IMO. I would have the dealership obtain the permission since they initially have the contacts to reach out to.

  3. was someone just looking for a facebook boost? I kinda think so , Still no winner posted on his facebook ......I could be wrong but why not post the winner like you said you would and post here as well. If nothing is posted by thursday i will remove my like on his page, and say bye bye, You dont say your having a drawing to get your facebook boosted at and then dont do as promised to those who got you what you wanted and leave us in the dark....

  4. That's awesome! Can I ask what something like this you would charge?

Thanks! The material itself is was not more than about $200...so it all comes down to labor cost. If this was not a good friend I would of charged upward of $500-$600 with the amount of work involved...sometimes more depending on the vehicle and material. Most of the time I give the customer the option to disassemble the vehicle themselves and that saves us about 2-3 hours of work and we can afford to knock off about $100-$200 off the total cost.

  5. I guess i did not think it would be that hard to wrap. But i also have limited experience in it. I was looking at a full wrap for the wow factor of the design. This is for my new company selling high performance car, boat, rv and aerospace cleaners. I am making a deal when consumers buy multiple products from us they get a free bucket. I want something that would stand out.

Look into hydrodipping them. You can do a full pattern print for the "wow" factor and can be done in half the time. Not sure how the cost compares to wrap but I know it will look just as good and not take as long to produce.

  6. Printing itself at that size would not be too expensive....it's the labor to install them on a round surface that will be the most costly. I install wraps on YETI cups and besides being "fun" to work around the cylinder there's no way to avoid a seam on the back side either. It may be worth the cost to have them powder coated or hydrodipped and just apply a decal over the freshly colored bucket at that qty. You are looking close to an hour (each) for install and at my rate would be around $1200 on just the labor alone. I would quote about $1600 on this project if it were me.

  7. I am sure it is "legal" but in redneck terms in Michigan it would be a serious target of ridicule lol -  now as far as driving it - thinking if I was taking it to sema I would at least use an enclosed trailer to get it there - can you imagine the clean up after driving it that far?  still a serious feather in your cap on being selected to wrap it

I believe he'll trailer it to the show...or i hope he does. Those wheels and tires will sling some serious road debris and potentially screw up my hard work.

  8. So, they are bringing you the truck to wrap at your facilities.....

    that's great.

Is there a competition afterwards for "Best Design/Wrap"?

Congrats & best of luck.....take pixs as you go along!

    Sue2

Yeah one of their guys will be driving it 12 hrs to me for a 48 hr wrap install. As far as I know SEMA as hundreds of categories...including best of show, best design, best paint, best wrap...etc.

Will be taking pics as we go and will share them here in this thread.

  9. Very happy for you with the job but jack it up and put rollers on it?   confused - must be a street thing that never goes off road.  Is that legal in south carolina LOL

LOL yeah im not a fan of the big wheels and little tires on a lifted truck...however yes I do think it's legal or for his sake of driving down from NY I hope it is.

  10. Im excited to announce that after few years of installing vinyl wraps and decals for custom truck builds, Moody Blue Decals has been selected as wrap and graphics sponsor for Project Umbrella to debut at none other than the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The truck will be brought to SC from New York in June and we will have 48 hrs to completely install the wrap and graphics. This is the first rendering we did for the build but have since decided that a "rust" wrap will be more fitting and we will be turning this into an apocalyptic master piece. Stay tuned throughout the year much more to come!
