Is is worth getting a shop??

I've run a business from my home (not vinyl) for about 6 years, made a killing in my bvd's Now that I have the shop I'm seriously reconsidering moving back to the house so i can get a paycheck again... I would consider the economy before investing in a shop right now unless you're getting a great deal or if you have the cash to keep you going over the lean times... If you do have the cash, with the economy as it is, you can pick up great deals on shop space (at least in this area). I've seen a year free for a 5 year lease w/reduced rent over the first couple of years... As far as being in on time, my customers are trained! No one ever expects me in before the crack of noon even though it's posted 10am!

    I just started...

Couple things you could try... First guess would be a virus screwing up the system, second would damage to the system. Most of the later can be fixed using Tune-Up utilities. You can download the demo at tune-up.com and see if it fixes the problem (Run the one step repair over and over until all the errors are fixed (usually 3-4 times)) The demo will run for about 30 days but once is pretty much all you need. if this doesn't take care of the problem, give me a yell and i'll see if i can give you a few other pointers.

    It's not much

That's cool.... Not sure of your reference but thinking that would work real well for me at the computer store, start rebranding all the mac's with pears! Sweet job!

    Storing Vinyl Material

Unless the temp gets extreme I wouldn't think you would have to worry much about it, the main issue i see is the cutter pressure. At the shop I have a server farm that raises the temp about 15-20 degrees, i need to use 40g to get a decent cut where at the house I have to use almost 100 (lower temp, cooler product)

    anybody have this one

Looking at yours vs mine, not the same but you may be able to hack it to become what you want... The flags are reversed and the V is missing, mine are the flags crossed... If you have problems let me know, I maybe able to hack it when i have some free time...

    Good bye for good.

Thanks Roger for the heads up and pointing me to the others, I'm sure they'll appreciate me knocking on their door at all hours of the morning with dumb questions! Being hard core geek and obessing with things I'm sure I'll end up contributing at some point - I always tend to push things to their limits just to find out all the bells and whistles

Haven't had my cutter long mh871 but have done signs up to about 16x16 using the usb port. Never once had a problem.... As far as the cutter going nuts after you changed the serial baud rate, did you make sure all the settings were changed? IE the cutter and the software? I know if both are not the same you can get some wild results...

    Oh no! Not another one!

Hey Rotten, welcome to the forums (newbie myself in the state of misery, er missouri!) Seems like we got in for the same reason, hang around the 4ums, great place to learn!

    Good bye for good.

wow, all my digging around on the forum and never once any drama Was actually nice to come and read the posts, get educated and seeing everyone helping everyone else. Not something you see much of these days... Not sure exactly what happened and probably shouldn't add my 2cents but did see something said about someone advertising another forum... It is a business, if you advertise a site that's the same topic as this, you'll pull some of the people from this site and with that, you essentially take away advertising from the owner. I run about 20 different sites and strip the tag lines from any members signature advertising another web site, then email them and explain why. Why should I pay for the server, bandwidth, maintenance just to let someone pull my members and advertise for free? I see that as allowing a competitor into my store and sharing my customer database, all active bids, pretty much giving them full access to everything that makes my business uniquely mine. On to a different topic since everyone seems to be abandoning ship, I personally would like to thank those that have contributed to the forums. I've been looking at cutters on and off for a few years and finally broke down and bought a mh871 about a month ago. And with no clue what i was doing, outside of reading the forums, as of about an hour ago i did a 4 color logo on my store front door. Without the forums here and those that contributed to it, I'd probably still be staring at the rolls of vinyl trying to figure out wth to do with them. So for those still around and reading this, many thanks!
