Thanks for the info but I've had several bad results dealing with China where they've taken the money and closed down, eBay and Paypal says there is nothing they can do and I'm out the cash and because of that, I now shop US only!

Think i'll leave myself open to the abuse of the forum experts but... I've been doing some etching here and they've all turned out pretty good, but i'm using the etching cream... What's the advantage of other methods?

First thing would be to upload the original image (bmp/jpg) image so it can be used by an image editor. If it were me, I'd simply open the image in microsoft paintbrush which is on every windows computer, and at the least erase as much of the background as possible so it's not as much work for someone here to vectorize. If you're the one that took the photo, you may want to take another one with a solid color (white) background so there isn't as much clean-up work required... Help implies all parties involved will be putting in an effort, so clean up the image and I'll finish up the vectoring if someone doesn't beat me to it!

MH871 Static Solution New Solution for Crazy Cuts and other static problems
bayotle replied to njevans's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
For the static issue, (which i haven't experienced yet), someone may want to pick up a few small (link) chains, screw them to the top of the unit and lay them across the rolls.. This should dissipate any static build up in the rolls... If it's just generic static buildup in the room, we used to take something like a Windex bottle full of water and lightly mist the carpet... -
Well speedoggy, don't light them candles yet! No road trips planned anytime soon! And Dakota... aaaah hell, neva mind!

need help cutting small text
bayotle replied to John T's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
Think I'm just going back to my corner and read the post rather than make any attempt to help.... my cutter wasn't doing as good of a job as usual, assumed it was the temp so up'd the pressure, walked away and came back to nicely cut out panels - right through the backing -
Dunno, could be, but even the UPS driver complains about some of the packages they 'make' him deliver... Haven't had an issue with Fedex yet (crossed fingers). Even had 5 UPS's delivered, not even a ding on the box!

need help cutting small text
bayotle replied to John T's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
Haven't tried anything quite that small, think the smallest I've gotten is about 1/4"... All i can add is to try different fonts and to check the blade setting. Had originally read that it should be about 1/2 the thickness of a credit card but have since made it less than that and it actually made a better cut. -
If you're going to take CC's at all it's best spend some time and look around, about 3 years ago i needed a cc machine and account setup fast, had someone who said they knew what they were doing look at the numbers and he said the rates were typical... Big mistake.. I found out if i don't use the machine at all it's a $58 monthly fee - if the machine was used the base rate dropped down to around $30, but their charges still took a major bite out of my income. Just bought my own machine a couple months ago, a VX870? cellular, base cost on that a month (including the cell access) is $15 / month + a very small percentage on each transaction. If i hadn't run into the last company I would be dropping credit cards all together. Which reminds me, need to go buy another one so i can ship this expensive one back and tell em where to stick it! As far as websites, most companies that sell domain names give away free basic hosting and email and offer premium packages to boot, some complete with ecommerce built in. I have about 15 sites, most of the ecommerce sites are running oscommerce with over 20k items. If you are just trying to compete with the local a-hole, i wouldn't worry to much about the website, found that my main company website is only used by existing customers when they forget my phone number! A lot of people think that just because you put up a website you'll get start making money. I've had a dozen sites that have been up for years that haven't made a dime yet (another reason they're hosted in house!)

Strange Cutting MH871
bayotle replied to bayotle's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Thanks Sandy, guess the verdict is in! -
I bought the 'cutter' more for design work and was using it to print the basic floor plan at my shop. It printed most of it ok but in the middle of printing dimensional text it started criss-crossing the page about 10-15 times. Since it was just plotting and not damaging anything I let it run it's course just to see what I ended up with, at some point it decided to go back to work, printed out about 1/2 line of text, shot down the middle of the document about 8" and started plotting out the last half of another line of text, both lines were in the correct position but the end of the first line and beginning of the second line was missing replaced by a line between the two... I've noticed this a few times on complex drawings and a few times cutting an image that once it was resized the problem went away... Memory issue or? If so, is the memory on these units upgradable? Thanks
