    US Cutter MH series

So that justifies anything vinyl applied to it is coming off. Thanks for your input. Not everyone needs a two thousand dollar plotter/cutter to play around with. Not all here run a business. I'm just stating the truth to US Cutter of the shoddy appearance which is what I thought this forum was created for. I have bought many low cost items that outlasted the pricy ones by ten times. Jaybird, I respect your opinion considering your status here. Your explanation of you get what you pay for reflects on US Cutters low quality as well. BTW the machine cuts great. I just have to remember to press all the tape down under the cutter blade before I use it. Good day.

    US Cutter MH series

Quality Control issues. My MH-365 works great after I figured out the SCALP3 software. An observation. Where the cutter strikes a strip in front of the roller. The strip is pealing. The tape used as decorative is all comming loose and I comstantly have to keep pressing it back down. The ruler both front and back is peeling as well. It appears the machine was not clean when all these tape areas where applied. This spells CHEAP and low quality control. Mind you these are mostly cosmetic issues, but issues none the less. The control panel has bubble buttons under the vinyl covering. The vinyl is comming lose and I constantly have to press it down. Lastly. The manual is almost useless. Any pictures of the LCD display is unreadable when used as directions. Looking online everything is correct. Did someone not proof read this? One may say you get what you pay for. Shoddy work is not expected nor desired. If your other high end models are this shoddy then when I do upgrade to a high end machine it will be another brand. The above is an honest observation. The machine does what it suppose to do. Cut and Plot. Cosmetically it gets a two out of five stars. -robert

Cutting Position with SCAL and us cutter

Assuming you are new to SCAL like myself. This is what I discovered today and to be honest, I didn't read about it in the manual that came with my MH-365. SCAL refers to the grid screen as the mat. The top command line shows CUTTER > Mat size or Mat Location. The mat size can be portrait or landscape. The width of the media is important because you have to stay within the mats margins or it will trim off some as what happened to me. What I discovered was the direction arrow either at the left or the top of the Mat screen. This shows direction of vinyl or media travel. I had several miscuts and couldn't figure out why. Then I saw that arrow and it dawned on my how to position my objects on the mat. Once I understood that, I set my origin point and cut a piece only 8" wide but cut letters all the way across. I can't believe I kept overlooking that. I cutout a sign for my grandson to take to the Grand Ole Opry to see the Fresh Beat Band in just a few minutes. I also cut a piece for my ATV restoration. Sometimes all is not lost. It could be something overlooked that causes is miscut. As in my case.-kid

Cutting Position with SCAL and us cutter

I'm surprised I see no mention of the proper way to deactivate the software. You MUST have an internet connection to properly deactivate the software. If I read correctly the license is for one machine. Once deactivated, then you can uninstall and start over. Somewhere online detects the activation code. SCALP's site has support where one can recover their activation code in case of catastrophic computer failure. It seems it compiles both name and product code when it generates the key file. I actually downloaded a trail version of SCALP3 which states it will cut a line thru the vinyl until one activates the software. I activated the downloaded software with the codes provided on the software sleeve. This method of activation and deactivation is probably to deter piracy.

Thanks for the tip Jaybird. Those special printers are pricey. I already bought some Papilio white waterproof paper and Papilio UV clear I'm going to try first.

Not really issues, they are indeed printed. I will print the decal base on special waterproof vinyl paper and laminate them with UV clear gloss laminate. The rest I plan to cut and layer. I can't afford to have these custom made at a sign shop which would cost more than my investment so far in vinyl cutting equipment.

Here are some of the decals I will be making from scratch. I'lll take a good Hi Def pic of each and clean them up in Paintshop Pro then run them thru Inkscape and finally in SCAL3 Pro.

    WARNING TO EVERYONE!!

John as one of you newest members I found that gaining membership was easier than most. Maybe adding one of those random image of text and numbers that must be entered in a text box might help. But your not going to keep them all out.

Slice, I'm retired and just sold my 1941 Studebacker Champion street rod. I was looking for another project and stumbled across a Yamaha ATV made in 1989. What caught my eye is that it had a PTO on the rear of it. After much research I found out Yamaha only made it one year. There has never been another ATV made with a PTO to this day. I drove from Nashville to Memphis and bought it with a matching FM-48 finish mower which trails behind it. The mower is what I'm duplicating the decals on. Let's see if I can post a few pictures of it. Mind you, the Terrapro did not look this good when I bought it. It underwent a four month restoration. If you where to Google Yamaha Terrapro you will see numerous pictures. I also have the FM-48 finish mower, RM-42 brush cutter and a very rare TC-38 garden tiller. I recently purchased a second Terrapro that came with the brush cutter and tiller. My second YFP350U and attachments have not been restored. I will be reproducing the decals on my MH-365 for all the implements. -robert
