hey everyone, a family friend has asked me to put some vehicle graphics on his 2007 dodge ram pickup. Along with some cool "slashes" and what not on the side of the truck, he is wanting some stickers for the rear window to promote his self-owned racing newsletter. My question: should I go with Oracal 751 cast vinyl for this, or should 651 do the job? I don't want to put something on that will peel off or look shotty in a year. Just want to make sure the investment is worth it for both me and my customer/friend. Thanks a lot for the advice everyone!

A friend of mine has recently asked for me to design a vinyl graphic to go on the top of a cornhole board. I have a vinyl cutter (not a printer) and the material the cornhole board is made out of is similar to a dry erase board texture on top. I have no concerns about my vinyl sticking to the board (Oracle 651 used for most things I have done), however I do have concerns about the sliding cornhole bags either tearing up the vinyl or causing the board to become too "sticky" for the game to be used right. I am considering buying Clear Shield (a product offered through US Cutters) to clearcoat over my vinyl decals. Would this protect my vinyl sufficiently, while creating a smooth playing surface? Additionally, if I apply this Clear Shield with a foam pad or brush, will it dry flat, without ridges? Or am I better off just spraying it over the vinyl? Thanks everyone who can give me any advice on this!!!

How Legit are your businesses?

Ok, I assume this would mean setting up a vendors license as well as an LLC correct? (not down with the biz lingo ) -
I recently designed some window stickers for a small boat charter business in my area. He has since mentioned to me that is interested in having us design and apply vinyl lettering to the back of his boat. Does anyone have any tips on apply vinyl to watercraft? I want something that will stick to the gelcoat and won't come off obviously. Not sure which route to take and if there are any special precautions I need to make to do the job right. Thanks everyone in advance!

I originally got into this as just a hobby basically, but am noticing a real interest from people and am wondering exactly how legitimate I should make my business? I live in Ohio and believe I should look into getting a vendors license (25$ fee). What route are most of you guys taking? Please give some insight about how your "shop" or "business" is run, if you have a store etc. Just wondering how far I should take this and if anyone has any tips or advice. Thanks again, and sorry if I'm not being very descriptive, not sure what all to include in my question I guess. -
Pricing with sign update

Just curious, why would Oracal 651 fade in just a few months? Oracals color guide states that Oracal 651 colored vinyl has an outdoor life of 6 years guaranteed. -

Also, I will be using Oracle 651 Vinyl (Red) to do this. -

there is a business in town that wants the lower section of their sign updated. They want us to remove decals covering a 7.5 inch by 7.5 ft area (long and narrow), and replace it with "Friendly Professional Service" taking up the same area. What would your prices be for materials, removal of old decals, cleaning of the sign and application of new decals? Thanks! -
Hi everyone, I recently purchased an MH-871 34" US Cutter. I have it hooked up to a Windows 7, 64 bit CPU system and have been using SignBlazer, Illustrator and Inkscape so far (over the past few days). So far, no problems with machine (merely learning curves), except the manual is essentially useless. Anyways, I have just a few questions that hopefully somewhere here can help me with. 1.) What are some good maintenance habits to develop for taking care of my machine? I have heard people talking about using rubbing alcohol to clean parts of the cutter, but if someone could be more descriptive on this topic I would GREATLY appreciate it. 2.) *Not really maintenance related* How do I test feed vinyl through the machine to test my tracking? There is nothing listed in the manual on this and I am hesitant to get over ambitious and start just hitting random buttons. 2.) Lastly, what is the average life-length of a 45 degree blade, as well as a 60 degree blade. I have the Roland style blades in it, and have only been cutting Oracle 651 so far. Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to lend me some good advice!!

Hey everyone, got my first real job completed and looking for assistance with pricing. Here is the info: Banner is 3 ft. by 6 ft. (Grommetted every 1 ft., white) There are three colors used: Oracle Black 651, Oracle King Blue 651 and Oracle Red 651. We estimated that of the 18 sq. ft. of vinyl that roughly 12 sq. ft. of it is covered in vinyl. In Black is just the company logo, 24" X 24" In Blue is "Check Out Our Reduced Prices" In Red is a really big "SALE" 24" X 30" Without posting a pic, this is the most info I think I can give. Just looking for ballpark estimates on something like this. Thanks! -
Thanks kenya, that is what I thought.

Oh, one last question just to be sure I am understanding what I created.... there is no white layer of vinyl in that image correct? Anywhere I can see white in the jpeg you posted is actually the backing of the vinyl correct? Seeing as how the only colors I had were orange and black, it is my (noob) belief that there is only two layers (1 orange (bottom layer), 1 black (top layer)). Thanks again!!
