    PC-60 Issue

Blinking #6 means cartridge not identified or installed wrong. BUT if head is not moving when close cover then you are gunna want to look at clamps or media sensors. Also is there a cartridge on the head currently? From my experiance thats where it leads me to to point.

    2' x 4' Banner, Red, O651 Applied.

51" x 300' unhemmed is 150 bucks. So out of that I can get abot 34 8' banners. 4.50 for banner mat, plus another 1.5 for tape and grommets n rope lets say. Thats a tad over 150 more in my pocket across a roll for a few extra min on a banner. As far as being instant banner shop cheapens the image I disagree. My experiance has shown me if customers have to waitthey genneraly prce shop alot more than get the instant gratification of paying more with a product in hand faster. That is what seperates me from the "instant" online banner sellers who get 2 bucks a sguare foot. I do get more for a banner when a customer wants it same day. It is a premium service for a premium price. I am merely stating this as this is what my shop offers. Does require more overhead and storage. Not everyone will do the same as this and many will not even want to deal with the hassel of finishing banners. I have a fairly big store front with a large shop and work area in the back so this allows me to have more on hand at MY expense. My area is filled with resorts and alot of vacation properties. If they have to wait they will just as well get it from their beer distributer for free with a Budwieser logo on it or go online and pay 1/4 of my price.

    2' x 4' Banner, Red, O651 Applied.

5 min if im on the phone doing it 1 handed. I have a rig build holds them all at the end of my table. Just grab, pull, roll cut, hem and grommet if needed. Mostly I use wedding and D-Rings if sewing (Much stronger and faster. and probally as cheap or close to it as grommets if i would actually push te pencil to it) and just 4 grommets if taping. Plus your weighing costs on a 2 x 4 banner. Really see the savings on larger banners and heavier ones. It all adds up guick and the ability to produce off size banners finished ready for pickup within 30 min is a great cusomer satisfier. I HATE ordering anyting and telling a customer well, another 4 days cause i dont have that in stock is a real turn off to me.

13oz up I sew. 10oz Tape em up. can buy rolls either hemmed or not for what you prefer. 13oz UNHEMMED 24" x 40 Yards for less than 60 bucks. thats .50 a foot as just a example. so your 2x4 is 2 dollars plus hem tape and 4 grommets and rope. I hate the ones that come already full of grommets. it never comes out even and no matter what you do your throwing away peices and can never match their grommet type.

I have a Seiki 8707 Irun at 800 and about 210g. It's actually just a tad louder than my roland, But not much. Way quieter than any other stepper cutter i have heard. If material if off the roll Idont even hear it just the blade dropping.

It all depends on how your buying your banner material. If your buying banner blanks your cost will be high. I buy banner by the rolls and have a variety of 10 and 13 oz. on hand in most colors. that buts my cost down to less than 3 bucks on this size banner. But even so that price is still cheap. Give him your price based on your work not on what he says he can get it done for. If your going to be doing more banners I would look into buying bulk rolls and staying away from blanks.

    first vehicle

Nice work. Looks Good Last Body Shop I worked at would of loved a shop truck like that. We had to be careful with anything smaller than a fender in the box so it wouldnt fall thru the rust holes.
  8. But I should be honest. I hate blasting with a passion. He he. But also like someone else posted I have no competition around me for price. If it was that tight of a market around me where i had to drop pricing that much i wouldn't do it just for the reason it wouldn't be worth the aggravation to me. But keep in mind this is all my opinion and the general business guidelines i can make for MY marketing area, not yours. 200 customers for a dollar is not a good business model for me. But sometimes it has to be done and I know we have all done it. But I wont do blasting mugs, If I have to work for 4 hours to profit 50 bucks there is no way i would take that on. Time better spent to me by door knocking and generating new clients or strengthening relationships with current ones on more profitable projects.
  9. Wow. I disagree with most here. Etching is time consuming (costly) manufacturing process. At 6 dollars a mug I would go broke. Production rates of these would be what less than 6 a hour total? Thirty six dollars a hour minus materials and thats bustin ass. If I'm not profiting 55 or more per hour it does not come thru my shop. when i do feel like etching I get 20 a mug for basic things and more if its a pain. Order 10 its still 20. Want 100? Go somewhere else. Volume on this process does not make it faster or more profitable. Maybe if you liquid etch. But even then it is still a process. 6 bucks your giving your work away. But most of you dont use this as your main income so you dont have to weigh all the costs. You just figure "I got 3 dollars in it so i will sell for 6". Thats bad buisness in my book and does nothing but bring the perceived value of the trade down in the tubes.

    Dirtbike Graphics... what to use?

A PC-600 will not fit your need for this. You need to be able to print on something like Oracal 3951HT or similar vinyl. You will need a solvent printer, laminator and templates. You can easily drop 15 to 20k in this setup not including any material and software. Then making the templates is no easy chore. A good set of templates is gunna set you back a week per bike and to buy a premake kit for some current bikes across a few companys costs about a grand to start with. If thats all your gunna do with this setup you better be pretty prominent in this scene as there is already alot of people flooding this market and its not to easy to make and sell alot of these to justify the equipment costs. Draw up designs, farm out the printing and start there. Feel out your marketing abilities first before going balls in and sitting on 30k of machinery and products wondering how can I make the payments this month.

    Eps files

What really gets bad is camera raw files and converters for them. Every manufacturer has different codex for their raw files and it varies for model of camera on top of that too. When I used to do strictly photography and printing that was a major pain in the rear.

    Eps files

I do beleive most people use Bridge to view mass amounts of eps files that are bulked in folders. Would be nice to view them all in windows folders but i really dont want 85561562321631 processes running to allow this to happen and 387 freeware programs running in the background all dependant on each other per a certain rev lvl. But thats me.

    4 x 8 sheet for sign?

Thatws what i was going to say

    4 x 8 sheet for sign?

I am pretty sure lowes and menards have MDO on hand also. MDO used to be the standard for exterior signage back in the day. If I was gunna use wood it would be a sealed MDO board. And I know signs for the USDA Rural Development are still required to be APA rated A-B Grade Exterior plywood also. USDA Rural Development jobs are only thing I still use wood on and I charge thru the nose because I hate painting them per their code. Wish they would update and allow a newer design signboard. As far as the fumes its the bottle of Jack im more worried about than a little paint fumes, lol. And my shop used to be a auto body shop, took a year for it not to smell like a good coat of clear. Finally now starting to really not smell like a paint shop anymore.

    4 x 8 sheet for sign?

Its all a good story but i wouldn't put my name on birch plywood or sell that to anyone. Cheap? at $44 a sheet, then oil base paint cost, time in prep, and the mess and stink in the shop for a week thats not very cheap at all. Money better spent and saved on buying a sign panel, either a aluminum composite panel for $60 or a allumacore for $80 - 90. No mess, no fuss and its what it is made for. Plus its still birch plywood when your done. But really you could also paint a piece of cardboard and it would be shiny, glossy and flat to.

    Number Fonts

Every rececar number I do is nothing special for fonts Just the standards you and I use every day. I dont buy any or use any premades. Take a standard number, outline, stretch it, skew it, shadow, make it specific for your application and punch it into your graphics for a even better look. Here is a really basic drawing that took about 15 min to complete.
  18. Also. A3 paper size is 11.7" x 16.5" not 13" x 19". Super B is 13" x 19". So if your searching for A3 your results will be skewed. Although now some have been refering to 13" x 19" as A3+ in photograph terms. So that might be what you mean.
  19. Well i use 13 x 19 in my Canon PRO9000 alot. But thats a 8 color printer. Not very much thru my epson 1100's and they really don't have a good color reproduction for fine quality prints and designs. Good for what they are for but just cant match the quality that i am looking for in a photograph reproduction printer. But the Epson 9000 does a great job for the posters and large photos as it is a six color printer. HP Premium Plus Photo and Proofing Gloss. Product number Q5486A. Only HP paper I would suggest buying as i tend to stay away from them all together. Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss Paper, or any of their papers for that matter. They would probably be best choice for value and quality of paper if you don't want to spend the money on canon papers which in my mind produce the best and most vibrant colors and quality. Canon Fine art Paper Photo Rag, FA-PR1. Or any of their art paper line for the good effects and textures on your prints. Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum. Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II.

Best way to go for shirts

I do understand what you mean spyder. And for many that may be the case. But myself for 30 shirts i would vinyl them. I have complete control over them this way, I can control exact sizing and position on shirt how I see fit per the customer and vary the graphic specific for the size of each shirt. Everybody does things different and some would like to see the time spent elsewhere. 30 shirts with 3 colors text would take a max of 2 hours. Less if able to press 2 colors at same time which is unknown. Even if it was a medium sized graphic cost on each item will be what? 4 bucks. so for a finished goods price of 9 each brings more into my shop than the hassle of subbing it out, paying shipping and waiting when i could get this done in less than a day turn around. And that is what keeps my customers in this area to me is a fast turnaround and attention to detail. But if you don't carry the shirts on hand or the colors of the vinyl required you might be better off to sub it out as just ordering in material to do 1 job will outweigh the savings of doing it in house. So that in itself might me the deciding factor. Ordering just a few feet of each color will drastically affect the price and may eat any profit you would make by doing this in house. You and only you can make this choice. Both ways are good ways.

I want to play around with the greenstar

I would not suggest using greenstar or 651 for any wall applications as these are permanent adhesives and may damage wall upon removal. As far as trying to save money on materials, your selling these so the price of your materials would reflect on your pricing. Using the correct product for the end use is a good basis to start with in your business. Greenstar, 651 or any other permanent vinyl being used as a wall/interior graphic application is not a good choice. Damage to walls and its high gloss should be enough to deter one from using it. 631 is matte for interior applications and has a water based non permanent adhesive designed for this. Gloss on a wall with lighting is extremely hard to read.

    Oracal 970RA

i keep reading this and keep wondering why your going to spend all the money on buying a wrapping cast for this. Im not sure of the class or sanction of the car cause the pic is really fuzzy but that would point me in a bit better direction. From what i can tell wrap it in a black cast if there is alot of curves, if its a flatter sheeted body wrap it in 651. If you have a unlimited advertising budjed and like to blow money to have it look good prior to the first rubbin go ahead and use 970. I do think nomatter which material you use its gunna get beat up and and show signs of failure toward the end of the season with no panel replacememnts. It it the nature of the beast. The 970 to me seems like a lot of money that could be better spent.
  25. I would be around that 2.50 each also. Would not bother with it for any less at that quanity. Did a 8" x 8" with more weeding recently at 150 pcs for 5.50 each. kinda nasty little buggers. Firehouse logos
