just asking
mopar691 replied to livinloudgraphics's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
It all depends on your geographic market area. What sells in Minnesota does not sell at all in Cal. -
What type of vinyl are you using and what program? These are all factors
-
Thats odd cause I can cut just fine with 7.6 in W7 with mine. Its the 8 bit rip drivers that dont work with anything higher. But cutting communication works just fine.
-
Sweet, thanks for taking time to do this. The way you did these does have a great, clean look that pre-fabbed ones cannot get.

Well, I am with roxy on this one and wondering if materials and time were cheaper than a 55 bucks for a signcade a-frame cause costs vary by location and time was less than thought tells me nothing. I think we are just curious if we want to try this. Nothing more or nothing less.

The Roland will contour cut, just have to do manual registration.

Are you supplying new acrylic on second sign? Is it pan or flat face? I have never resurfaced these as shadowing is almost always a problem. Take down, clean, letter and reinstall. 4-6 hours at your shop rate. Hard to be anywhere close without knowing material usage. Judging from the sizes and shooting blanks 600 to 900 for the lettering and installation. As a referance a 4' x 8' 2.5 pan face, two sided and lettered is about $1400 out of my shop with removal, disposal and install. New can, 2.5 pan acrylic, 2 sided is roughly $2600 plus mounting and installation.

No. Epsons 9800 uses K3 ink(dye), not solvent. These would not do what you are looking for. Granted you could but a coated vinyl, but the end product is super thick, 12+ mils, and no where near the same quality as printed vinly in appearance, life and conformability.

The life of the vinyl is awesome. Super stable and very strong. Applies awesome. But the white just does not weed. I haved mentioned this to my 3M rep and they have heard it before. But again it is just the formulation. If you get used to it it would not be so bad. By the end of my 50 yard roll i knew how i could and coulndnt pull it. If your weeding oracal cast all day for years and switch to that, do not attempt to grab a corner and go to town like your used to. It requires more finesse and maybe a few weed lines well placed.

3M in white is a weeding nightmare. Period. It is not known for its weeding properties. Colors are fine but white, no. Always been a issue with thier products. It is a great vinyl but man, i will not ever buy any again and after talking with other shop owners across the country and hearing the same results it just confirmed that it wasnt just me.

Wow, she must not of cut anything. I go thru about a blade every month or two, not counting the machines that run reflective.
-
It should be pulled apart, same colors merged, then reassembled in correct order. If i get a bit of free time this morning I will do that and post it. I am assuming you will want to stack these colors correct?

I have 2 9000 and a 9600. Great printers for what they are made for. Photos and indoor displays. I do alot of framed photography and these work excellent for that. Ink is super cheap and readily available. I run dye thru all mine for the color reproduction. Prefer the 9000 over the 9600. The 9600 is faster but not as fine with the detail if your printing max resolution. Have run pigments thru a 9000 on occasion but really have done nothing with these for outdoor or on anything like the sihl vinyls.

Why not just print it with your gerber? Then CC it out. I would not vector that and run it thu mine. What software are you using to print? High DPI and increase your blacks and nothing else. Just straight black ribbon.

mopar691 replied to dsage's topic in Pre-sale questions
The Best would be Oracal 951. It out preforms 751 across the board. And if its a high dollar boat with lots of use, time in the water, etc i would use 951. Plus More Colors -

Pricing large sign job
mopar691 replied to jwallen543's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Are you replacing the translucent faces? If so how thick material and how much lighting is behind? While in ther i would get them to spring for new bulbs also to really add life to the old sign. Also i would consider trying to talk them into a new awning cover as might be a adhesion issue on the old one. Also on your bid guna need alot of labor for the etched vinyl on all that window. Lots of prep and steel wool cleaning if older glass that has sen alot of the elements. -
Going from a Summa to a LP is a huge differance. Things that the summa would fly thru you are going to beat your head on the wall with tha laserpoint. Dont expect the same result. Kinda like going from a Mercedes S-Class to a Geo. Gotta be dead on for your blade height and pressure to not get the punch thru and be sure your cut strip is in flawless condition. If not you will get these problems all the time. Blade angle does matter via speed of cut, pressure and drop force which is not adjustable on the LP. Its also going to change your offset for the blade. Smaller text is going to magnify these problems quite proportonally. Going to have to do lots of trial and error to get a good all around blade setting for your specific machine.
