  1. I have an order for 15,000 tshirts, all different sizes and colors. Where's the best place to buy these? I also need a teflon sheet, where's the best place to get those from?

    j/k

call sanmar and see what they can do for you.

15000 shirts with a heat press!!! Your going to have one strong arm. :)

i can get you good pricing on screen printing.

  2. This is partially cleaned up. I started with a scan off a scrap paper where my customer drew this.

I am still learning illy so tips on how to make it cuttable appreciated.

note: I need advice on how to save files... They are always too big.

what settings and file type should i be using?

  3. You have Illustrator what more do you want?

    mark-s

not the answer I was looking for, although it may be a great answer.

i have $600 illustrator... flexisign is $1700 and flexipro is $4300. What am I not getting compared to these? There has to be a reason the cost more.

I saw a video posted by bannerjohn of flexi converting poor/low res graphics into nice cuttable vector in seconds. Can this be done with illy? I have always struggled with the settings, being self taught.

Also the ability to quickly add and edit cutting lines. can i do this in illy?

im a self taught noob, so some explanation would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. I have been doing all my vinyl cutting with Illustrator and CutMaster 2 for about a year now.

I want to take the next step and get some better design/cut software but not sure I really need it.

There are so many to choose from what should consider and what can I expect to gain from better software?

I do not have a large format printer, but I do plan to use my WF 1100 to print/crop mark for cutting a few decals and heat transfers.

  5. If you set the job size window to 2" that will be the size of the capitol letters. Now if you have any letters that drop below the line such as p,g,j, the part below the line is included in the 2"... all caps should be 2"

    MM64 B)

Sorry, but can you tell me when you say job size window are you talking about something in CM2 or Illustrator. If illy is that the "Artboard" size?

  6. Simple example: If I type "Coach Jason" in illy

Send to cutter. cutmaster 2 / graphtec ce5000-60

Tell cutmaster 2 to cut artwork 2" tall.

The text always comes out shorter. It seems like it cuts the invisible text/edit box at 2" and not the actual text.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

  7. If your saying the adhesive is the problem, then it sounds like your vinyl. can you do a sample cut on different type of vinyl?

sorry for the late follow up.

Yes I used oracal 651 and the weeding was not an issue. Just can't believe I spent so much on the 3M Controltac and can't even use it?

  8. I am attaching the file.

First problem might be I am trying 24" 3M Controltac for the first time with my Graphtec cutter.

I have adjusted blade and pressure and switched between 45 and 60 degrees. I have wasted about 3 yards.

The weird thing is that the vinyl/cast seems to be cut but the adhesive is sticking across the cut from the weed to the keep?

Any suggestions or work with the file appreciated.

  9. i have tried several merchant accounts and seem to be most happy with Intuits "go payment". unless you are swiping dozens of cards a day this is great. i have it on my ipad and every time i use it the customers are in awe and think it's so cool. hey, it may be cool but it sure beats having to tell a potential customer sorry i dont take credit cards.

fee is about $12 a month for the service. my first 3 months were free and no contract.

charge fees are about 1.7 swipe, 2.7 keyed

you can use it on most phones, iphone, ipad, and over internet.

  10. Hi, all.

Just wondering how many people use shutterstock to buy or sell images.

I am trying to do things as legal as I can with my limited knowledge of copyrights and royalty free and plan to start buying such art for use as decals and transfers. It seems like the smart choice is to buy it if I don't know where it came from.

Is shutterstock the best or is there another I should look at?

    Thanks,

    Jason

  11. My prices are based on square inches.....

    So 12 square feet x 144 = 1728 x 5.6 = 9676.8 / 100 = 96.75 rounded.....

    got it, thanks.

    Thanks...

One more question about your chart. if you were making several signs for the same customer. would you total the sqin for all the signs before refering to your chart or go to the chart per sign.

  12. I made a sliding scale chart. It starts 6.5 per sq. in. for 3 square feet and goes down to 3.5 per sq. in. for 32 square feet or larger. This is for coroplast or white banner. If the material is different I add 1.5 times the cost of the substrate. I add 20% for each additional colour and sometimes extra if the text is extensive. This gives me a minimum of 28.00 but I usually charge 25.00 for an 18" x 24" coroplast sign. Some prices get rounded off. I am sure a "techie" could make an excel spreadsheet to make the calculation I have to do manually.

uh, maybe you made a typo. I think you meant to say 6.5 per sq ft???  or  .065 cents per inch?

$6.50 per sq in is $936.00 for 1 sqft.

  13. I have customer ask me about making some stickers that he can across.

Here is the kicker, they have a copyright date of 1982. No way to find out who printed them.

He is representing the company who's name is on them but I don't think he has the authority to make the final decision.

What would you do? I don't want to get my new business in trouble for $50 worth of stickers.
