    MH871 - weeding small letters

Also, good vinyl is not just for the customer, it makes life so much easier for you and me! I bought 12 different colors from a ccworkshop or something on ebay, all but the black and white was a chinese brand, calendared probably 3mil+ and is very tough to work with. Fine for big stuff, but weeding small letters, no way. I cut 100+ small (6") car decals with text and after struggling with the first couple threw away 24" x 4 feet of the crap and bought a roll of greenstar. It just isn't worth the small savings. Not saying the Greenstar is great, but it sure is better than the first junk I had.

multiple cut jobs - have to restart my computer?

    of course! http://www.amazon.com/Keyspan-Speed-Serial-Adapter-USA-19HS/dp/B0000VYJRY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268937129&sr=8-1

    MH871 - weeding small letters

X2 on this, I have a logo I'm cutting (real small text with overall size 1.25 x 6") that was literally taking 2-3 minutes per decal to pull the initial boundary off the letters and having to hold down differet letters, find the commas, etc. Swapped the blade offset to .5, way better, .3, even better, and .2 they peel without me holding anything down. Literally a 1000% improvement, makes 200 decals doable instead of giving me nightmares. Great tip.

multiple cut jobs - have to restart my computer?

I did this, bought one on amazon for just over 30 shipped, and it has made a world of difference. I have not had to disconnect the usb cord OR restart my machine since installing the usb to serial converter. Best 30 bucks I ever spent. Thanks for the tips

multiple cut jobs - have to restart my computer?

This makes a lot of sense, and is kinda what I was thinking. I was trying tof figure out what in my process was causing the lockup, and I think it was the reset button pressing on the cutter like you said. That signblazer software is quirky though, works well when it works. Strange to me that I can't shut the program down when it stops responding without cold rebooting my laptop.
  6. I'm cutting just fine with my 871, but my issue is figuring out what I'm doing that's causing subsequent cut jobs to not go to the cutter, and ending up having to restart my laptop? I'm running the USB cord, which I know has given some people issues. I'll go into SignBlazer Elements, send a job to print, then hit reset on the cutter, take it offline, move the cutting tip to a new position to start the next job, set new origin, then when I send the new job, it does nothing, Signblazer stops responding, and I can't even shut the program down. I have to shut the laptop off to get to cutting again. Is the reset on the cutter causing the issue? I guess when I've had successful jobs cut back to back I haven't used the reset button. Does that cause the USB to lose communication and not re-initialize? Anyone have similar experience? Thanks, Jeremy
  7. I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to the guys at USCutter. I got my MH871 middle of last week, got it setup over the weekend, and ws cutting decals the same day. Monday night I was cutting a 6" x 48" wall quote off a new roll of black matte vinyl, humidifier was off at the house, and the motherboard got shocked. Researched it Monday night, called USCutter Tuesday when they opened, and they had a new one in the mail to me that day overnight fedex. I added a ground wire, bought a new filter for the humidifier in the house, and got my new Motherboard Wednesday before 3pm. Called up USCutter at Brandon's recommendation and had Eli walk me through the install, no issues. Last night I was able to cut my five backed up vinyl orders, and am happy to be back in business. Was I happy the cutter stopped cutting after 2 days? No. Was I pleased with the service of everyone I spoke with at USCutter? Absolutely. They are not a huge company, so you have to wait on hold a bit to get ahold of them. I wasn't a fan of the 10 minute hold time cutoff though, I could have done without that. I've read a lot of good and bad reviews of the refine series, but bottom line is it's one heck of a deal for what it is, and with a little care and environment setup to minimize the static effects, it's tough to beat it. Keep up the good work guys.
