due to the nature of shoes, personally I would use vinyl as a stencil and paint it. I would be really wary of using vinyl on shoes, the first edge to lift would get dirt under it and then it's all over.

yea print screen is definitely a problem for us. but at least whoever copies it, sees watermark & disclaimer, and if they still copy it they have to go through the work to re-draw it.

What is the name of this holographic material? (Video Inside)
FrznFire07 replied to jschmidt's topic in Vinyl
try giving them a call, if I remember right it's called rain something. We have used that material before and we did get it from Fellers, i just don't think it's around anymore, if recall correctly I think it was discontinued. Because it used to come in a bunch of different patterns and now it's only that one. regardless they should know what you're talking about if you call em. -
we do watermarked and secure pdf documents (password protected) so the only thing you do is open the image, you're not allowed to edit or even print the document. it's not fool proof, but it gives us the option to send high quality proofs that cannot be edited or printed.

i know it's also called holographic like you mentioned, but we always used to tell fellers we were looking for refractive vinyl. I just looked at the catalog, vinylefx calls it special effects vinyl. does that help? -
what mobo are you using? hey if you really want some speed, use those 1tb drives as extra strorage space only and run your OS and other software on a SSD

we charge $400 for a single sided 4' x 20' banner $650 double sided.

what is the substrate? you said metal, but is it .040 alu? .080 alu? steel? dibond? what type of vinyl are you using? oracal 751? 3M? are you building it as one sign or paneling it when you install?
-
no experience with it, but I would love to what you come up with, sounds like it could be fun!

that's a good processor for the money dakota. just make sure you get a liquid cooler for it, high end AMD's run hot since overclocking is basically a normal option now.

Fellers use to carry it, we used to use it till we realized it's an indoor film. They still carry a version of it, the manufacturer is vinylefx. this stuff has a terrible shelf life, is hard to cut, and doesn't last so be warned. by the way, it's called refractive vinyl. -
Wet application and Trailer screws?
FrznFire07 replied to precisiondesigns's topic in General discussion
we don't really give the customer a choice, we tell them before install if at all possible we are going to remove screws prior to installation in any area the vinyl will hit. we have laid graphics on many trailers it's far less headache if you just remove them. the trick is to layout your graphics on trailer and then only remove screws the vinyl will hit. -
welcome from Colorado!

I think your only other option would be translucent, but window perf would probably be the best. If you need a quote several of us print window perf.

Loose blade carriage
FrznFire07 replied to Boom's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
from what i can tell on my ce 3000 60 no it is not supposed to be loose. it looks like there is a screw on either side of the carriage to remove plastic, then there are several screws inside that tighten carriage to belt. try removing plastic and see if you can tighten it to the belt. -
hmmmm, i've never actually tried to wet app with plastic tape, good to know, thx!

what make/model plotter are you using? can you post pics of specific part that is loose? -
I would layer on the boat, you get less bubbles. you can lay it wet if you are not used to laying vinyl, otherwise I would lay it dry. I'm guessing your transfer tape is clear? This just makes it a little easier to layer vinyl, however it is more expensive, which is why most of us use paper transfer tape. either will work fine.
