we are using 3M really?! no lamination? heck 2 years with no lamination is fantastic! we get maybe 18 months out of 3M with optically clear laminate. what kind of issues do you experience with the lamination?
-
that's not an illustrator effect, that's a photoshop soft bevel. you can get the idea with illy but the 3D bevel is photoshop.

nobody uses window perf here?

wow, if the ink is wiping off there's a huge problem there, I wouldn't be going back. Yea we laminate ours with optically clear lamination, they just don't last long and I know they aren't really supposed to, it's just awfully expensive material for temporary use basically (1-2 years)

do you by any chance have any close ups of the fog lights? We are doing a warranty today on a car we did about a year ago, and the recessed fog lights always seem to be a problem. I'm just curious how you do them.

Best Substrate for large indoor sign?
FrznFire07 replied to Brandiland's topic in General discussion
I like PVC for indoor signage, lightweight and clean finish. -
Before anyone says anything, i'm fully aware that metallic vinyl is not supposed to be eco-solvent ink compatible. So we are using oracal 951 silver and we are trying to print a gradient on it. We've had some luck with this before but this time we can't get it to work at all and I was just curious if anyone on here has ever had luck with an eco-solvent printer and metallic vinyls. Any tips/tricks? I will post a picture in a little bit of what we are experiencing.

We did wipe down the material really well with a micro fiber cloth, but not with alcohol, usually we find that when we clean printable materials with alcohol you can tell where you've wiped the material once ink goes down, but it's worth a shot!
-
and here's what is supposed to look like.
-
Ok so here's what happening... Its like the ink isn't sticking to the material. I tried multiple profiles, I tried no heat, low heat, and high heat. I printed on different media to make sure it's wasn't the printer or the file and it came out fine.

So I'm assuming this is a fairly common issue since we are dealing with ink jet printers but I wanted to know if any of you have any tips/tricks for minimizing drips. Below is a photo of what we experience once in a while. We are using a Mutoh Valuejet 1324 with Mutoh Inks. Print Head and Wiper are cleaned 1-2 times a week depending on how much we are printing. Nozzle checks are good. The printer is two years old, maintenance station was replaced about 6 months ago. This particular print is a 48 x 96 for sale sign that we are installing 30' in the air. If we weren't installing we would have reprinted it. Along with what you guys/girls do to minimize the issue what do you deem acceptable? How do you explain to customers that you've printed the same job three times and it still has a minor issue, it's not perfect? It doesn't happen very often but some jobs end up getting printed so many times because they are not perfect and we always get into an argument as to what we should deem acceptable, we of course strive for perfection but sometimes the machinery just doesn't want to cooperate.

how often do you clean your encoder strip? along with that how often do you need to replace it?
-
what do you find is the best way to clean the encoder strip? alcohol?
-
are you thinking we should replace the encoder strip?
-
yea the encoder strip is clean, and yes we print with a wave pattern although we have many options as far that goes, I prefer fine & fog when we are doing a wrap, regardless this still happens once in a while. And yes it does do it the whole length of the material for that one pass, however it still means we have to reprint. As far as cleaning ink off the print, we have ink cleaning solution that works great but if it's in an area that has other color that doesn't do any good since it would take all the ink. We do remove the drips off of the white areas but there's nothing we can do about areas that have other ink there as well.

I know I'm not on here very much, but the advice and ideas that come from this forum are priceless. I for one really appreciate the wisdom (wisecracks?) from everyone on here. -
Being a major Peyton Manning fan and of course a Broncos fan, we are ecstatic they took home the Lombardi this year. But I honestly hope he retires, I love Peyton but I just don't see another season. I really enjoyed watching Favre as well, but watching him try too hard to stay was just painful. Peyton's on top, he should go out that way before he takes another hit that could paralyze him.

FrznFire07 replied to H2Ohydrographics's topic in Graphic Requests
the maltese you can find on just about any clipart website, or even just google images, same for the axes, the flags you just mask to the image. Then just input new text.- 7 replies

oracal makes a transparent we use for several applications. I guess it really depends on the look your trying to acheive. 651 does allow some light to pass thru, in face most vinyl does unless its a blockout film (pigmented back)

Looking for some sort of thin plastic-like sign material?
FrznFire07 replied to fawnap's topic in General discussion
agree with jaybird pvc, we use Sintra or Komatex. Both are great products, come in several thicknesses. -
no worries!

i don't suppose anyone has a skin file for the xbox one yet?
