  1. I have an MH871-MK2 and it has been working flawlessly but in the past day I have noticed cuts becoming weak. I have adjusted the blade numerous times and tried a new blade all together. Even with the blade all the way down, it still won't cut smoothly. It cuts the design fine but weeding it is difficult, especially on smaller things. I even bumped the cut press to 120 with the blade maxed out and it didn't help. I have a project due this week that needs to be done right so I'm hoping it's something easy....any ideas? Anything to check? I noticed some grease on the case, could something have broke? Like I said, it still cuts, it still looks like it's doing its job, it just doesn't seem to cut smoothly through the vinyl which is why I am worried maybe whatever controls the press could be broke? Thanks!

    MH-871-MK2 Cut Press Issues

I tried a new blade with no luck and tried the test cut. It sort of hung up in 2/3 cuts in the corners of the box. I'll take the cover off in a bit and see if I see anything, thanks!
  3. Hello. I just got a brand new MH871 today and am having some issues. After setting it all up smoothly, installing the USB driver and program I did a test cut with OK results. I figured I just needed a minor adjustment which I did to the blade and it cut well. I then decided to cut something larger off of Sure Cuts A Lot just to see and noticed one of the metal rollers was very loud, almost seemed too loud and looking at it, it's very loose and binds when you spin it by hand. Is this normal? I tried another test cut and get a very bad cut, the star it cuts is all chopped and the square is just almost non existant. I've rest everything, played with settings, even put in a new blade. I can't figure it out, I called tech support but was on hold too long. This isn't a very good first day with it but I'm hoping it can get sorted quickly. Last cut I tried gave me a very angled cut and it wasn't well cut either, so I'm pretty stuck. So the rundown: -Left side (viewing from front) metal roller is very loose/makes a lot of noise when running. A lot of noise. -Images cut irradically and don't even connect. -Cutting a single word from Sure Cuts A Lot gives me a cut at an angle and still not smooth cutting, even with the speed turned down quite a bit. Any input GREATLY appreciated.
  4. So my MH871 randomly cuts fine, then halfway through a project just goes straight horizontally to the end of the cutter and stops.....any one else seen this or know what to do to fix it? I've also noticed randomly on this design I cut it will cut fine, now all of a sudden it can't seem to get the bottom of the image straight, it cuts it, but it's offset but only at the bottom of the picture the rest is perfect.
  5. Sounds like my issue, it just goes straight and scratches the vinyl and goes all the way until the end of the cutter? You did use serial cables?
  6. Yeah I sanded the paint down right there. Cool thanks! I'll get one those two.
  7. Running USB, I'll try to find the adapter but it's weird that it just now does this. Ground is fine, very small decals, like 4 inches long.
  8. How freely should the feed rollers spin by hand on the MH871? Having issues with my unit (hehe) and am just trying to cross everything out. US Cutter is sending me a new blade housing/box/cartridge thing but I'm still double checking everything.

    test cut is off

Well I went ahead and took that cover off, nothing is visibly loose. :/ I'll double check everything is tight.
  10. Although mine is still acting up I did have the jagged line issue and also turned the speed down and got very straight lines from that.

    test cut is off

I just saw this, having same issues, going to try that tomorrow although they're sending me a new box.
  12. Quick question while I wait. How smoothly should the feed roller spin? It spins but there's a bit of friction. Reason I ask now is because after talking on the phone with them and they mentioned it could be the rollers I played with the blade holder more and no matter how loose or tight I have it, it shows the exact same result. I didn't know if the rollers could be screwing it up, my straight cut lines are perfect, it's just corners and what not that show issues. So. Frustrating.
  13. Got in touch with them, they're going to send me a new cartridge piece to solder in and see if that fixes it.
  14. Yeah I shouldn't have said that, I didn't torque it down or anything, just as tight as I imagined to be safe for that plastic.
  15. I brightened the image a tad...notice how the two pieces of the holder don't meet flush? I did contact tech support, waiting on a reply, sent a few photos as well.
  16. I did try that, still no luck. It looks to me like the blade holder is slightly crooked, I don't know if this would cause this? Here's a photo. I've tried looseing it a tad, tightening it as tight as I can, it just looks crooked to me, when loosened a little it seems to sit more level but when you tighten the nut it slightly pivots: It's a little hard to see, sorry.
  17. Yes it's grounded. I registered the software and it doesn't put lines it the cuts now. The issue NOW is it won't cut smoothly, I opened a case with customer supoort, it seems like the blade cartridge sits a little crooked, not sure if that will cause it or not. Straight cut fonts for example IMPACT font cuts well, but anything with smooth curves gets messed up. It will do it, but it's not smooth by any means:
  18. Hmmm I haven't yet, I'll try that. Yeah I'll call customer service in the morning just to mention the issues I had/have and see what they say. Thanks you all for the help!
  19. Well I actually got it working smoothly, huge difference, the only problem now is when I cut, it trails across the image and puts horizontal lines in the image I'm cutting. I've adjusted the blade and the settings on the cutter itself, I can't seem to find anything that works. Any ideas? If I keep having issues I'll call tech support and see what they can do.
  20. Is there a bearing in the end of it?
  21. Thanks for the tips, I tightened all the allen screws but what appears to be happening is the very end where the roller goes into the casing seems to be loose, almost like something is broken allowing the roller to move around,
