  1. I have my first sign job, and have a few questions.

It's for a hair salon and she's not sure if she wants it on the window or on a substrate.

If it's going on the window I would think white would be the color choice.

But if it's going on a white substrate and hung in the window what would be the best color to use as far as being able to

see it clearly? Oh, the sign will be about 2'x3'

Next question. I've read 46 degrees is the low temp to apply vinyl, so I guess I would have to wait till spring to apply to window or put it on the inside?

Also want to give a BIG thank you to Levi for getting my machine on the right track.

I was having a lot of problems with it freezing up like so many of you on here, so I took the forums advise and bought a usb/serial cable.

Installed it ok but it wouldn't work. Talked to Levi and it wouldn't work for him either. Put the usb back in and he got that working

without freezing up. I'm hoping it continues. Thanks again!

  2. OMG...What a surprise to see the address and actually know where it is!

I'm from Pa. but my husband and I have a place in Old Town.

Will be down for the month of March. Can't wait to get out of the white stuff.

Getting 15 inches more of it tonight.

By the way the signs look good

  3. Just received a brochure from the local community college and they have 2 Graphic Arts classes coming up in March. Which one would benefit me more? Intro to Adobe Illustrator or Intro to Adobe Photoshop CS3. I've only had my Creation P-cut cutter/plotter about 3 weeks and I know I need help and am willing to take classes but don't want to waste my money or time. Whats the dif between the 2?

  4. Thanks everyone, I'll probably download inkscape in the near future when I'm more comfortable with all this jibberish.

Been doing just one color cuts for now. Which is getting a little boring.  Haven't gotten the hang of importing stuff or vectorizing but I've been trying and I keep going back to the SBE manual to try to see where I'm going wrong. No problem, this machine isn't going to beat me. At least not yet!

  5. Called Ross the other day @ clean cut and he couldn't have been more helpful!

Wanted a 60 to try since a lot of the forum talk that I've read will be better to cut finer/smaller fonts.

Also told me to try adjusting the offset and to call him back if I had any questions. Now you don't hear that from too many company's.

Got the blade already and just wanted to give a thumbs up to Ross and CCB.

Plus got the discount for being a forum member!

Thanks for all the help on this forum, I'm slowly learning.

  6. Just got a pcut 630 and tried to do a test run as suggested with pen plotter but got no response.  Cutter is hooked up to a USB port on my laptop.  Did the setup as instructed on the Newbie "how to" manual for UScutter, but when I tried to design a simple text could not even locate the "Plotter!" button on the top!  So I clicked on Cutter instead, then clicked Cut, then Cut Tile.  Nothing happened.  What am I doing wrong?  Or is there a communication problem between the laptop and Pcut machine?  Before hooking Pcut up to laptop, I did a test square with the pen and it worked so the machine is/was working.  Any ideas?

  7. Well I finally did it, bought the p-cutter. I bought it off e-bay though, hope it will be ok.

Also bought some vinyl from usc but forgot some other items so I e-mailed them to see if I could add to my order.

I'm anticipating problems as I have been reading a lot on the forum. I saved the newbee file and will try to follow it to minimize problems.

I have the basic computer skills but hooking things up and getting them to work is a challenge for me.

I work for a company that does laser engraving but I don't have to create anything. I get the file and click a few buttons and it's done.

Would really like to learn more and I'm sure I will with this machine. Have already learned some stuff from this forum. Been telling myself not to get disappointed and quit.

I'd like to keep the work small, I like the tiles some of you did and license plates. My sister and I set up at craft shows. Where's the best place price wise to buy the substrates?

Now I'm just waitin' for the postman to come!!!

      ???;D
