  1. My cutter was working properly with Windows 10 and VinylMaster Cut until a Windows update and is no longer recognized by VinylMaster. It will function properly with a trail version of SignCut. I am using a Keyspan serial adapter but no matter what I do VinylMaster does not detect the cutter as being present. I have tried 3 different computers with the same results, tried every variation of language settings, etc no no avail. I would prefer to continue using VinylMaster due to the creation options but am at my wit's end. My port is set at COM3 (the only serial port present)/9600/8/N/1/Hardware.

    cutter return to starting position

Thanks so much for the input. I'll give it a shot. I initially thought about posting the eps file but decided the sb would be more helpful - my bad
  4. I am a casual user so don't have an intimate knowledge of SignBlazer (or many other things). I have an image with 2 colors but I want to cut both on the same piece of vinyl basically overlaying the cuts on each other. (file attached) What I need to do is return the cutter to the position before the first color was cut. I have experimented with setting the origin, etc but not accomplishing what I want. Can someone enlighten me on how to return the cutter to the starting position so I can process the second cut? Thanks for your assistance. Jackie aTm.SBD

    Problem cutting Anchor Sandblast resist

I may have solved the problem. I fed the resist out a few more inches before cutting and it seemed to cut fine. Thanks for looking.
  6. Let me preface by saying I am new at this and this is the first time I've tried cutting Anchor sandblast resist (which is mainly what I bought the Copam 2500 for anyway) I am using a 60 degree blade as recommended at 60 g pressure. I'm trying to get the blade depth set so I drew a simple rectangle in Signblazer to use as a test object. The top line (the one nearest the end of the resist) cuts fine but the parallel line on the other side barely cuts at all. I tried increasing the pressure to about 100 without benefit. Any suggestions?

I may be getting off thread somewhat but I wonder what people use to initially create graphics - a bitmap program then convert it to vector and cut or do you create directly in a vector program such as Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator and import to something such as SignBlazer or just create in SignBlazer directly? Again, thanks for the help

Thanks again I think I understand - by creating the graphic with lines with no fill the cutter is basically cutting out the lines which creates two cuts on something that should be a single cut line. Is this correct?

Here is my EPS file. I'll play with adjusting the cutter depth and see if this helps. aTm Vector.eps aTm Vector.eps

Thanks for your responses. I think you may be right about cutting the image twice as there are small slivers of vinyl throughout. I will upload the EPS file later when I get home. I tried importing from a cmx file but I get "not a valid cmx file" or something similar. Is there one file type I could export to from Corel Draw that is more reliable than others? Thanks again Jackie

    Newbie needs help

I totally new to the vinyl cutting arena so I may be making a multitude of errors but here goes... I have a Copam 2500 cutter (settings 30 mm.sec, 60 g, and .25 blade offset - 45 degree blade that came with cutter) Using Greenstar white vinyl 24" SignBlazer software, images created with CorelDraw X4 and exported to EPS file I cut a few items with letters and seemed fairly good though cut paths did not exactly meet in a few instances but not off by much. I created this graphic for my own use - it's about 6x8" in size. (Picture enclosed) The problem is the vinyl seems to catch on the knife at times and get pulled up at the corners and some of the smaller lines will pull up and fold over - a royal mess. I've played with the cutter height and it seems about right - cuts through vinyl and part way into backing but not all the way through. Increasing and decreasing cutting pressure did not help. I also slowed speed down which did not seem to help much. I did notice there is a place for cutter offset in Signblazer - not sure if .25 is to be entered there but either way didn't seem to make much difference. The knife is brand new and looks clean. I do have a 60 degree knife I got to cut sandblast resist I could try if you think it would help. Perhaps I'm trying to do something that can't be done as far as the thinness of the lines (about 1/8"). Any suggestions appreciated. Jackie
