  1. Hey guys, been awhile, almost 5 years actually. So previously I ran my MH-721 from my macbook osx10.5 from sign cut. WITHOUT a keyspan adapter. Well, I dropped that computer and it's donezo. I'm now using my friends exact same macbook. But it's been so long I have absolutely no clue what I did so many years ago to get it set up. ANY tips would be great, I've downloaded what I thought to be the correct drivers but I'm pretty sure I'm messing something. I do my fair share of searching for the answer rather than asking because i know the info is out there, but with work and moving and crap I've just had a hell of a time! Heres what I'm using and whats going on! Macbook OS.X 10.5 Sign Cut MH-721 Series cutter. I know alot of people use the keyspan, but I don't have one and somehow got it to work just fine by using just the USB cord the cutter came with. I'm confused as to what drivers I need downloaded/where to get them, I got some from uscutter and just nothing seems to be working. ANY tips as to what the exact ones I'd need for everything would be great, I'm not so technologically skilled with that kind of stuff. I've attached what my sign cut shows for settings. (The baud rate is set to 9600 on both cutter and signcut) ANY TIPS would be great, I'm just so damn confused now trying to remember what I did and what drivers and all that crap and nothings working so I am sure I'm missing something! THANK YOU!
  2. I've posted this before, on the mac and flexi forums but they do not get enough traffic through there it seems and I never got an answer. The search turned up nothing. I've got Flex 8.5 (For mac) and a Macbook OS.X 10.5.8 on a US Cutter MH-721 And a Keyspan (The one from US cutter) I've downloaded the drivers for it as I bought flexi from some random website that didnt include it on there (Didn't know that ahead of time) I've gotten it to cut maybe a inch and it stops, most the time on my trial and errors of different settings it says "holding" Could someone who's running this or a simliar set up on a mac give me a bit of detail what their setup is, a screen shot of the preferances from the Flexi Production Manager I think would help. Or any other advice to try.. I tried several companies tech support and no one was helpful. Anything would be great, thanks!

    should be a quick one

Robert, thank you for that. I could have grabbed just the word logo into a vector easy. I guess I should have specified I need both parts of the logo, ontop of eachother, and it will be cut just as one color so the two logos, the word and the half circle things should just be together as one layer.. I just had trouble with it because inkscape wouldn't pick up the gray color with the black background. Thanks again for any help

    should be a quick one

I owe a friend a decal, and they want this.. Just the words and the logo. The black background with the grey gives me a hard time to vector it. Any help would be great, I usually handle all my vectors but just having trouble because of the size and background. A cuttable .eps or just a large .jpg would be great either way thank you anyone who has a quick minute to help me!
  5. @sarconastic.. the problem was, i checked here.. it wasn't listed ever.. i put it off a few weeks and happened to look again and it was there, as the support commented it was "unhidden" so I could see it.. I didn't wait till the last minute, it just simply appeared lol. It's not a real big problem, I was more frustrated with it at the time because of a time crunch, I understand nothings perfect in the world of online stores and sales, things happen, and I couldn't complain about how USC handled it after. Not a big deal to me anymore, seeing as though any customers I had waiting were understanding. I just wish USC would have had it in the first place so I didnt have to buy from some random place, which lead to a disaster trying to set up because of drivers and what not. All is good now! Minus the fact I now have to order a keyspan lol.
  6. So I bought flexistarter 8.5 for my mac os x 10.5 after much frustration i finally got the right US cutter drivers installed since I bought it from seikitech.com and was completely unaware with the fact it wouldnt have the right drivers, thank god for my brother who knows nothing about cutting but got it the right drivers installed. Now, everything works, installed and what not. But when I go to cut, it never let me choose the USB says its not detected which I've always used previously with signcut, so I chose the serials one which it let me select. It cuts maybe 2 inches into a design and stops, or it just doesn't cut at all, and says holding. Is this the communication error that a serial adapter would fix? on seikitechs website on the page for flex it has http://seikitech.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27 that listed and says it may be needed for some mac.. is this what I need to fix my problem? I've never read very far into the communication error since I never had one previously, and just want to make sure a serial adapter like this would solve my problem before ordering it. And if anyone knows if they are sold cheaper elsewere or if all usb to serial adapters are the same. or maybe even if theres something else to help my problem, i just assumed it was this since i've heard some about it. Thanks for any help

Flexi Starter with a US cutter.

Any clue how to change it once you've chosen one? I found drivers for us cutter.. and they work but there seems to be a connection issue and I'm thinking i might need to serial converter thing, but before ordering one I figured I'd try the roland settings to see if it will cut my image completely not just a couple inches but can't seem to find a way to change or add another cutter. thanks!
  8. I need a quick answer, figured i might get one here faster. Just bought flexistarter 8.5 for mac.. running it on OX 10.5... with a US cutter MH-721 Got it all installed, I go to the "production manager" to try to cut.. and it wants me to select my cutter.. there is no US cutter on the list.. and I can't find anything online.. does anyonw know where to get the drivers for this?! I can't find it for mac. I also read somewhere on here that if you bought it from uscutter it should have it on there.. well us cutter doesn't sell it anymore and i bought it from seikitech.com.. whoever said that also said it's usually branded from where its sold.. does this mean i'm screwed since it's not already on there? Any help would be nice as I'm tight on time, thanks!
  9. Flexi starter was out of stock for quite some time on here.. I just happened to notice it was back up on the website yesterday and decided to order it.. along with a very small roll of app tape since I've been wanting a thinner roll but $10 shipping isnt reasonable on a $3 roll... anyways I order it and get an email today saying Flexi starter is out of stock or whatnot because flexi 10 is out ($300 more..). First of all.. if you don't have the product don't but it BACK listed online. They said they attempted to call me, I've been home all day, no call. The email said they'd continue with the shipping the app tape.. which I did not want anymore considering the price for shipping on it. So I called support to cancel it, other than a semi long wait time I have no complaints about support, he was nice and cancelled my order quickly for me. I guess the biggest problem is, don't put a listing for something thats not available, I'm in need of it quickly and and this is 2-3 days wasted of time before I'll get cutting software. I realize mistakes are made, and they've corrected them, but when it's an item pertaining to someones way of making money for a living, and making my customers less happy with a wait, they could be a little more careful.
  10. So my free one year with sign cut is up.. and someone else here was nice enough to provid me with some info to flexi starter, and because of the cost of sign cut I believe I'll be trying flexi starter.. Few questions though before I buy.. http://seikitech.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=42 That's the link to the one they sent me, and I'm wondering as it says on the bottom it may need a usb adapter for some cutters. I'm running a Macbook OS X 10.5.8 with the US CUTTER MH-Series, does anyone know if I'll be needing this? Also, is flexi starter easy to get up and running, and where can I find the driver codes? I can't be out of cutting for too long as I'm always doing small orders constantly.. Any info from someone using or has used flexi, and what I'll need to do will be great.. Thank you!!
  11. Thank you for the explaination I really appreciate that, and that makes alot of sense. I think I'll be going with flexi then, decent price compared to sign cut which I haven't been all too impressed with. I appreciate everyones help, thanks again!!
  12. Probably a newbi question, but I haven't had to deal with it so i dont know.. what is a dongle? Also it says it might require an usb adapter for some cutters with a mac.. any clue if i'd need one of those? right now I'm just running the USB from my us cutter MH series right to my mac and it's always worked fine Thank you!!
  13. I appreciate the link! I'm consdering switching over to that.. I believe when I bought my cutter I could have paid $80 to get flexi starter.. which I'm regretting now not getting now, knowing how much signcut is to renew.. Does anyone know if that price for flexistarter is a lifetime cost then? It doesn't seem to say anywhere.. but that's alot cheaper than $300 for a lifetime of signcut. I am using inkscape then signcut right now, which is working fine since I'm not doing all that detailed of designs, but I'm in a money crunch right now, and can't afford to not have my cutter cutting because this is my busiest time of year.
  14. It's been a year, my free one year trial of Sign Cut that I got with my US cutter MH series is expiring.. It's $80 some dollars per year for like $300 lifetime, which I wouldn't have immediately.. for what they give you, I feel its a little over priced since it's pretty basic. I'm just asking for some suggestions on other softwear I know of a few but I'm wondering other peoples opinions on what they like.. I know it's going to cost me one way or another, just wanna make sure I check out all my options before commiting.. I run a Macbook OS X 10.5.8 on the US cutter MH series. Thanks!

    Signdesignsupplies.com Vinyl

Keep in mind that if you switch to Oracal in the future that it will cut differently then whatever vinyl they are selling. Jon Oh yeah, that's another reason why I'm trying to stick with the same kind I have, I almost ordered a large roll of white oracal figured it'd be better for small car decals, but then remebered Id have to adjust my cutter everytime.
