    Where can I find....

For starters you should be able to find a number of usable images (ai,eps) at Brands of the World. Do you have Inkscape? It's a good free program for tracing (converting) raster images (Jpg,Gif) to vectors for cutting. I too cut with SignCut, but don't worry about format cause I use Corel X3 to send the project to SignCut. And that leads to my 'other suggestion' . Invest in SignBlazer, Corel or Illustrator so you can work with and modify images (trim, weld, merge, whatever) of various formats. You've got this great cutter why limit yourself to a few premade images that are directly compatable?
  2. Some of the information I saw when first looking at cutters used the servo Vs. stepper motor arguement to imply the servo was far superior, precision being one of the catagories Perhaps to the data inclined, slide rule, numbers crunching, individual this may be true. Bit my naked eye couldn't tell you the difference and isn't that what cutting vinyl is all about? Visual interpretation

    Nesting?

With SignCut I use Corel X3 to establish orientation of a multiple item project for optimal vinyl usage. While I have not used SignBalzer to any degree, I believe it would facilitate this also. While techinically this may not be nesting, the desired result is achieved.

    PLease help with this logo

I did a quick trace on it and this is what I came up with. The vector stills needs some of the segments smoothed out. I would normally do this in Corel and then send it to SignCut. Once in SignCut, the various colors appear in the right column. These can be cut individually by clicking on each one and cutting out. If you're not using SignCut, then it's better that I stop here. blr.ai blr.ai
  5. Thank you both. I would have guessed if anything the teflon might be used to prevent sublimation ink from passing thru the fabric to another layer. For example from the front side of a T shirt thru to the back. Is this something that one need worry about? I gather you are saying if I use ink, I need go with 50/50 fabric. With better vinyls 100% cotton is ok? I'm still looking for a good source of multicut in the Chicago area if anyone has any suggestions. I hear what you are saying about support on a heat press. This being more of a hobby and learning experience for me, it's difficult to justify spending xtra to buy the best sometimes. I took a risk on the Copam and believe I got my monies worth and then some. Hopefully with a press it'll be the same. I purchased an import press last evening at auction. Only time will tell how it turns out. Thanks again.

    Why vectorize in color?

That's my understanding. I'm still a novice when it comes to tracing an image and have found color vectorization for me to be less clean as I have yet to learn how to tweak the settings. So I'll vectorize an image in B/W, import it into Corel, crop parts of it out and change the color if need be. Admittingly I haven't had much call for this.

When I import this dune buggy into Corel X3 I get a lot of unwanted vertical lines. What cause that and how do you eliminate it?

  9. While I'm still relatively new at this, I have had mostly success when it comes to applying vinyl without bubbles forming. Things were much different last week when I applied Avery 6 year gold vinyl to a vehicle window. I cleaned the glass as usual and squeegied the graphic as normal. Everything appeared good for 24 hours. After that, the best I can describe my experience is as unbelievable...where did all those bubbles come from? This application was never subjected to intense sunlight, it wasn't even that hot around here during that time. I know there will be those that say vinyl does not gas. Still I'm left wondering if the pigments of some colors make them more prone to bubbles?

    Help with this graphic/vinyl

I did a larger layered sports logo for a friend last week. When applied to his vehicle, it was the dickens to eliminate the blisters (bubbles) on the bottom layer wherever the top layer was present. The xtra layer of vinyl appeared to inhibit rubbing them out.

    Corel X3 and Sign-Cut X-2

While I have the Copam rather than the Refine. I design in Corel X3 and launch the SignCut directly from the X3 to cut without any hitches.

    first timer with question

That sounds like a chunk to chew off. I can imagine with all the color or shading variation a photo will contain, you've got your work cut out (No pun intended). I had some ArcSoft that would cartoonize a photo at one time. This reduced the number of tones and outlined the major portions of the image. I wonder if that would be one way to approach it. If you're successful, I'd like to see the finished example posted here.

TIP: When a vector shows up as all black you can usually import it into Corel or Illistrator and select wireframe view to see how it will cut. I run all my images through Corel so I hadn't tried this through any other program. Before I discovered this on my end I rejected a lot of images that probably would have cut ok. They show up as all black because of the method used to outline and fill the image.

    Vectorized Frog?

This frog image is to poor of quality for me to work with. This came from a RIP graphic that was done a few years ago at another shop, I'm hoping it's a common file that perhaps someone here has seen before? Does anyone has a novelty frog vector like or similiar to this jpeg ? Thanks

    Vectorized Frog?

Thanks I did just that with a pencil as markers bleed too much for me. I probably trace too slow. I attempted to scan and to also photograph the image. It doesn't help that I have a cheap scanner. When traced in Inkscape, I ended up with too much rough edge on the outline. Still haven't figured how to work with nodes and segments to smooth outlines. What I ended up with fell far short of my expectations. KylesFrog.eps KylesFrog.eps
  25. While this won't solve your problem it may help to eliminate suspects. I just cut the freesnowmen from my laptop (XP, 2600 Sempron with 1024 RAM) without any issues directly from SignCut 2.17.
