So one my local car friends has a very beautiful 2010 focus and the main issue with the interior was the crappy silver trim. So we discussed things and came up with a solution for him. This is the first time ive ever tried to wrap anything and they turned out wonderful. Used oracals carbon fiber wrap, and put about 8 hours into the 4 pieces. Some before shots: After: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs299.snc3/28619_437530783832_183874263832_5410608_2180479_n.jpg[/img] http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-sjc1/hs299.snc3/28619_437530788832_183874263832_5410609_7814982_n.jpg[/img] I had just enough left over to do my radio surround. Before: After: http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs282.snc3/27769_437755643832_183874263832_5415205_452675_n.jpg[/img] In the car shots: comments welcome, i did learn a lot doing this, one thing being i need to buy some kind of adhesion promoter (any suggestions?) for the really deep concave curves, it didnt want to hold in there at all in some of the areas. comments and suggestions welcome

not a bad price, but fellers sells 60" rolls. id like to see how they look side to side, from what ive seen the 3m di-noc looks like a dry carbon not a wet carbon which is more desirable (at lest to my crowd)

yeah, im in WI so i know snow... all of these pieces are inside so no weather, but its good to know where to use it... do you put it on and then work your way to it or put it on right before you work it into the area? not sure if it comes with directions lol im hoping you guys can help me out enough to get away with it, i now have 6 orders for this stuff and ill have to buy even more material yet lol... not a bad thing
-
i did not ask, i totally forgot. but i have someone wanting 60x7ft so i might be calling again tomorrow i swear ill remember one day lol... as for charging, ive been charging per piece and how much time/ pain in the ass i think its going to be... i dont really have a pricing guide for myself on this yet... items 18"x18" and under that are mostly flat ive been doing for $40 + shipping + a core return (the price is $100 then im refunding $50 of it when i get their old piece back) its a very standard thing on these car sites im part of. the bigger items im getting $80 or more for because of size and time... this was the first ive done, so pricing may change in the future as i get quicker but time will tell.

gotcha they look good

i guess i dont get what im looking at, are they magnets or decals? they look good, just cant tell what they are lol

i appreciate the reply, i spent a lot of time on prep but never knew about the 3m adhesion promoter. Do you put that over the whole piece (in this case small interior pieces) or just on the deep curves and things. Most of these pieces ill be doing here then shipping across the country and the owners will be installing. I just want to make sure they arent going to fall apart a week after these guys get them. thanks again for the tips, i love learning this stuff

I got the wrap from Fellers. Dont have a number near me right now as im not in the office. but its oracals carbon fiber wrap in BLACK.

im glad to hear the 3m primer 94 works i just ordered it for the next set. any other tips jim? i really appreciate them. Josh

for most of them i started at the middle and worked out, for the center radio surround piece i started at the top worked down. not sure it was the best method, but it worked
-
yeah i used a heat gun, it gets very nice to work with with some hear

thanks guys, i have to order another roll today, i have 3 more people lined up that want bits of their interiors done... thats the nice part of sponsoring a car website, once 1 person has the guts to do something it spreads like wildfire, and usually the person doing it gets most of the business aslong as people keep getting a quality product in a timely manner.

Sounds good, On the carbon material, they should be able to sell 60" x however many yards i would think. I can't see why not, they are probably cutting it off a roll. thats what i figured but the lady i talked to said they didnt... i duno. maybe if i order 2 of the 60" x 3ft i can tell them to just not cut it in half? i duno ill call again tomorrow i think for more
-
like i said when i called they wouldnt sell it by the yard. if they would i wouldnt have passed on a job i did, but i cant justify 550$ roll for 1 persons hood/ roof : Let me know if they sell it to you by the yard because ill have to call. or maybe if i order a roll i can cut you off a few yards.
-
Yep that's where i'm getting mine too. If they can sell 3' of it, i would think they are cutting it off the roll so you could get 6'x60". Wouldn't hurt to ask. i asked when i called about the matte black wrap and they wouldnt cut it to what i needed and told me to contact 3m... but i have a bunch of new orders for pieces so it looks like ill be ordering 2 60"x3foot rolls tomorrow lol
-
i got it from fellers. will the 60"x36" fit your hood? i have a few guys wanting their hoods done but thats not big enough and im not ordering their 75 foot roll lol
-
thank you, i suppose to heatset them you would need one of the heat presses, i wonder what else would work for that.
-
what are you guys using for paints when doing the painted ones? and how is it diluted? id love to try this on some old shirts, that could be a nice way to advertise :thumbsup:to everyone!

thanks guys

zx360 posted a topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Ive read the "Rounded edges ?" thread and the noobie guide and ive adjusted the blade offset (signblazer) and my cuts still have rounded edges, and half the time the cuts arent completed. can anyone help? short of calling customer service and trying to deal with that again. can someone give some advice besides the noobie guide and the rounded edges thread? -
Advertising Online: Who does it?
zx360 replied to JoeCamaro's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
My core business is online. Im a member of 2 huge car forums to which i cater to... that is 99% of my business and the advertising and "sponsor" costs have paid for themselves over and over... i have a deal with 1 of the site owners where i supply him decals as my "fee" it works out great for both of us. -
it looks a lot better finished then the mock ups did... im glad it turned out well!

got mine a few weeks back, ill never go back.
