Brand new cutter won't power up!? *UPDATE*

OK I promised an update: After talking with customer service quite a bit, they were all super helpful and empathetic. I was given two options. I could either send the machine back for repair and they would repair it (at their expense) and send it back to me. Or I could opt to test the machine with a multi meter to figure out which part was band and they would send out a replacement part for me to install myself. Since my husband is a mechanic and I did not want to wait for them receive, repair, and re mail my machine back I opted to do the work here at home. Husband found the power converter board was bad and USCutter sent it out in a matter of days. Husband and I installed it today and viola! So far the machine is working without issue. I have yet to cut but am working my way through the Noob Manual posted here on the site and getting ready to do so. Thanks as always for the support here on the forum! I look forward to learning and working with everyone!

Brand new cutter won't power up!? *UPDATE*

Again thanks for all the replies, as of now I have spoken to tech support once. They advise I have my husband test the wires and electric connections for a dead area. So the poor guy is downstairs after a hard day at work taking apart a machine we just spent a lot of money one. He is pretty pissed. I have to wait to contact them again tomorrow since my husband gets off work outside their business hours. Hope to update you again with happier news.

Brand new cutter won't power up!? *UPDATE*

Thanks I'll definatly try switching out the power chord, I don't think the fuse was seperate but I'll double check that as well. I haven't even connected it to the computer yet so I know its not the serial cable. Just tried the power so far. I really appreciate all of the suggestions. It's KILLING me to wait until monday!

Whats with all these oval stickers

Just my two cents ....but as a military family we do have quite a few of the white oval country stickers for the countries we have traveled with our vehicles to. My car has one for Germany - oval D for Deutchland The military bases have begun to carry them more an more so I think that is adding to the popularity.

Noob with questions about vinyls :))

That makes a lot of sense actually. I will be starting small and I can definatly see the benefit of stocking mainly the 751. Better to know I put a quality product out there. Any experience removing 761 from auto body? Id hate to jack up someones paint job!

Noob with questions about vinyls :))

Awesome Is there any reason to use 751 over 651 for laptops, phones and windows? I just want to be sure not to damage anyones items
  9. After researching for a long while and reading the forums I am finally ready to buy this week! I just want to be sure I understand the different vinyls and their applications? From what I understand if I am using Oracal For temporary wall art I need to use : Oracal 631 For laptops or phones or window art: Oracal 651 or 751 For autobody: 751 Im assuming for banners and correguated plastic signs I would also use the 651 since I do not need to worry about removal so wouldnt want to wast the 751? Do I have this right? Sincere thanks in advance I can't wait to start designing and sticking!

    I MUST do this!

Thank you all so much for the advice! I am shopping now! Thanks Jay for the advice about size and the software. Im anxious to get started. Im a little worried about shipping since I am military overseas in Germany, but worse case scenario I can ship it to a friend in the US and then reship it. It will cost but I think I can make the money back! Im so excited!

    I MUST do this!

Ok Im sure you all get tired of newbie questions. But I have been hand painting signs and wall art for awhile now. I have recently been asked to design banners and even artwork for the gas tank of a Harley. I know that a vinyl cutter is something that would greatly add to my abilities and cut down a little on the hand painting Im doing. I would really love some advice on the type/brand of cutter to buy. Im hoping to keep it under a grand to start, but Id like to go big enough to really get my feet wet in this art form! Im also looking for advice on software and any other websites that may be helpful. If all of this has been answered already Id love if someone would just point me to the existing thread A million thanks! There is SO much talent on this site! I am just giddy!
