  1. you can cut stuff thats copywriten... just can't sell it lol

    Dude

That is the worst advice ever given. There is no exception in the copyright law that says you can make for your own use. Copyright is copyright.

Well, hopefully, since I am just making these for fun, and I made the vector files myself, by tweaking exsiting images, no one will be upset with the stickers I am making.

The Tyrannosaurus for instance, since I did nothing to the vector, I actually tracked down the artist and got their permission to use their file.

My goal is to make people smile when they see my videos, and to give them a new appreciation for the amount of hard work we all put into our stickers, whether that be for a living, or for a hobby.

    :D

    Weed on!

  2. Well, I called US Cutter today, and discussed the memory upgrade.

I think I might buy it, but just as a pre-emptive measure for what I hope is a

long life for my cutter :D

The gentleman I talked to today, did 2 things that ensured I will continue to be

    a happy customer:

    1) He told me possible solutions (same as in this forum) that I should try before selling me the memory

    2) He told me they are support people that take orders, not salespeople.  This kind of awesome customer centric

mentality will keep me as a customer for a VERY long time.

Incidentally, I did in fact have a serial port it turns out, as I built this Win7 machine, and the board I put in it

DID have a serial port (was not sure originally)...  Once I added that cable, Sign Blazer crashed on me the first

time, but since then, I have gone back and done that highly detailed image, and it cut perfectly.

So, like I said, I will probably get the memory upgrade, but just as a good thing to have.

My woes are now over :D  Thank you everyone!!!

    Especially US CUTTER!

  3. Thank you!  I am going to try to do 3 more videos tonight!  Thankfully the tips I got regarding switching to the

Serial port instead of the USB port seems to have fixed my issue with the image halting 60% of the way through,

so I am looking forward to one of my favorite designs tonight!

So, here is a question, rather than creating a new post everytime, is there a way to edit this thread to show

that there are new updated videos?  Or do I just need to create a new post each time?

    Thanks! :D

**NOTE** I found the modify button :D  oh, and I also did a nice 2+ hour stint of weeding and now just

need to edit the 3 new videos!  I will update later this morning, or tomorrow, when they are online!

  4. I would definitely guesstimate that to be cheap :)  but if it is for your own pride and joy, then

it makes perfect sense.  I originally bought my cutter to make stickers for my Anti-Zombie website.

I realized it would be insanely expensive to have someone else make my stickers and I wouldn't be

able to sell them to my target audience.  Now, when I make them, I am pouring my idea into them

so it is more fun, and I don't seem to mind as much :D

(In fact I just cut a 12" version of my logo while I was typing this, for my new Pelican Rifle case :D hehe)

The upside, is that people liked what I did, and I have slowly started making wall, car, and laptop decals

for friends and family and just with that small market, I have made back more than double what my machine

    cost me.

My logo is entirely letters, and they are chewed up letters, hence why I would LOVE to be able to weed

out the letters as fast as you did :D  I suppose I need to play around with the settings more.  I am thinking

that it might really all be down to cut depth for me now.

Thanks again for your response, and best of luck!

  5. Three things...

    1) WOW... awesome video :D

    2) I now realize that I must need to set the depth deeper perhaps on my cutter?

I can never just pull so easily, with small details staying behind!  Has anyone ever figured out the best way to decide what depth?

(for all intents and purposes I am still a n00b :D hehe)

    3) What would you charge for stickers like that?  Just out of curiosity :D

Again, thanks for the awesome video!

    -Robert

  6. I am having this exact same issue, except that I installed it, and it was working, but I could not add devices or a new setup, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled.

Now it says that the security key doesnt match the password.

    Any ideas??

  7. To my knowledge, there was no memory upgrade available for this unit.  Has this since changed?

Also, at what size file should memory become an issue?  The file was 590k not even 1 mb.

In regards to long cuts, do you mean long amounts of time, or long distance?  As I mentioned,

the cutting area is only 25"x40", but it was a very detailed design.

I am using the USB, do not have a serial port on this computer.

I also did not notice any static, but that may be it.  Do you have any examples of how people have

    grounded in the past? (images?)

  8. Thanks!  I just edited and cut a huge sticker of Ichigo from Bleach again, this time in his

final form when he performs one of his final attacks with his Zanpakuto (blade).

If you don't read the manga, then its either a little bit of a spoiler image, or a teaser ;D

depending on how you look at it.

I also recently started watching Soul Eater, since it was quick and on Netflix. :D

Am about to start cutting a Kid Death sticker, as soon as I hit submit on this post ;D

Thanks again for watching!  I will update this post, as I add more videos!

  9. **Updated 2-9-2011** I just added a new video to the YouTube channel!  This time you can win the sticker I made!

    *****************************************************

**Updated 12-24-2010** I just added 3 new videos to the YouTube channel!  Tell me what you all think!

    *****************************************************

Hey everyone!  I have to say, for the most part, I love my cutter!  It does have its quirks, but I finally found something really fun that I could do with it, that has been well received locally.

I have been randomly making large (25-28"x whatever) stickers, videotaping the weeding process, then speeding it up to a ridiculous amount.  Think 1 hour of weeding, in 1 minute.

Let me know what you all think!  I am going to start giving the stickers away to subscriber/commenters in hopes of making the channel more popular, so if you are on Youtube, please subscribe and spread the word!

    http://www.youtube.com/user/thestickermaker

BTW, if you have any requests/suggestions, pass them along!

Thank you all for the great info on the forums over the past year or so!

    Thank you again!

  10. So, this is about the 5th time this has happened.  It seems to be random, which images it will stop on.

Some are highly detailed, others are not... they are all about 25inches x 40 inches.  The machine will

cut all of the detail, but then just stops cutting and returns to "home".  The SignBlazer software continues

to run, "sending output to cutter".... until it finishes the outline of the image.

I did notice that the cut parts are outlined in RED and the parts (outter edges usually) are in blue, and

    are not being cut.

Is there a way to figure out what is going wrong?  I am tired of wasting so much vinyl on these botched

    images.

Oh yeah, the vinyl is actually gold infused platinum, beaten extremely thin.... its about 3 million dollars a

    roll.  Thats for 10 feet.

Seriously though, I am being a smart alec about the vinyl costs, but it is annoying as it takes a long time

to finish all the detail, and then it basically wastes the vinyl that was cut ;D

This is a 34" MH 871 running the Sign Blazer elements for USCutter software.

BTW - it will also cut other images, just as large with no issues.

The files are ai files (live traced in illustrator, then copy and pasted into Sign Blazer).

This has worked for a year or so now, but is now messing up.... Thank you for your help!  ;D

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone else :D

    -Robert

(p.s. I hope you all had a good laugh,, and maybe someone can help)

  11. Well, like I said, I explicitly asked regarding using some of the images in my logo for my business and for some of

my customers.  Then the legal verbiage seems to state the contrary.

I am more concerned I think with the fact that I had so many files that are blanks, and I paid almost twice what

some people paid, who got perfectly good art.  Oh well, I will see what they say when I contact them.

    -Robert

  12. He had a massive sale recently, that was the Mega Bundle 3 pack... 299.00.  I bought it for 308.00 after shipping.

Got the DVD's in a small envelope, all had the same sticker/label on them, nothing marked to tell you what was on

them.  After a few hours of accessing them all and trying to catalog all of the images I received, it turns out that

quite a few of the files were blank, a few of the collections were repeats as well.

Admittedly, I still need to contact him to see about replacement discs, but with 50gigs of files its hard to go through

each one to see what works and what doesnt.

I also noticed this little bit of verbiage that is a little disconcerting, in the T&C's on one of the packages:

    "

    6. You may not use, or allow anyone else to use any of these images in any pornographic, libelous or defamatory use."

Now, I understand that this is mainly to keep you from ripping off their artwork, and

when I talked to Dan (I beleive it was Dan) he said that I was able to use the artwork

in my business logo and in the logos of people whom I do work for.  It just apparently

would mean that everytime I wished to do so I would need to email them directly for

permissions (contrary to the conversation I had with him on the phone, that resounded

the fact that I could do anything except for sell the files).

Did anyone else notice this, or have any issues with their art?

All in all, it is a pretty impressive package, I was dissappointed that so many of the

categories I wanted did not work, but I am certain they will replace them when I contact

them.  I was also deeply dissappointed that there were no Fonts included.  I misunderstood

that when I first called him and asked him if the Fonts were included, he told me to go

to the website and look under the collections and that would show me what all was included.

    C'est La Vie.

Did anyone else get in on this sale?
