-
just about anything could be copyrighted i would have thought, but if you know the guy personaly i think your pretty safe (not that i condone any copying/reproducing of copyright work etc etc blady blah)
Nothin on there website/brandsofthe world you can find ??

Skip buying a new computer and get a new Graphtec. That'll solve your problem.
I'd Love to i really would but there is huge price difference between a computer and a graphtec lol
-
If your desktop allows, try direct serial connection. It solved a lot of my problems with incomplete cuts.
Jay
thats what i am hoping for taht serial to serial will resolve the issue
-
heres some advice for you, check this thread you may wish to re think,
http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,19074.0.html
do you know the buyer personally, if not i would say don't do it

thanks for the pointers guys much appreciated, the reason i m looking for a new pc is im currently using a laptop reasonable spec but i think its causing me a few cutting problems when i seem to do large graphics (length wise) possibly to do with either not enough ram or the connection USB to serial adapter.
This weekend im going to test my theoy out on my home desktop i know thats more than man enough, so if i still get problems from using that then the problem must lie else where, its an elimination process at the moment.
But i am glad to see that the cutter it elf doesnt need a top spec PC to run a basic set up will do the job, and its the programs other than SB that actually need the spec

for those of you that wouldnt take a non payer to court for design work you have completed please let me have your details i need some design work done lol
As for Mader i think you have made the right decision, as long as you are prepared to not receive the $250 you have nothing to lose, FIGHT IT or you may aswell as pack up shop now as you will be getting a lot more customers like this in the future.
I just dont understand why anyone would be in business if they just give up at any hurdle, and why they are so afraid to fight back at customers, the old saying "The customer is always right" is the biggest lie ever to be told, very rarely are they right.
Anyway i think you have a good case as its not only about non payment its also a copyright issue, they havent NOT paid you because of an issue with the design especially if they are selling a product with the design on it, hard proof of that would help you (I.e photo inside their store with your design on the product).

cool i was thinking along those lines myself, but i didnt know if the cutters required a certain amount of RAM/GRAPHICS or other bits and bobs
-
that doesnt help then really, couple of options dependent on you as a person
1) chase through courts
2) write it off to experience
3) Get your own back!!!

Had a quick search but not found a definitive answer,
What are the minimum PC specs required to run a cutter, for example when you play games etc it tells you exactly what the lowest spec machine it will run on, but the for the cutters nothing.
I am running a MH721 Refine with sign blazer and flexi (or atleast trying to get flexi to run) it also needs to run the adobe creative suite, corel in the future.
What would you recommend to be the minimum spec required??
I am asking for the minimum so i have a ground base to work up from, if that makes sense
-
So I sent her the invoice and payment date. And the response I get is:
Here is where I am. Clearly you have no ground to stand on so if you feel you must take me to small claims court. I guess you will.
Well i think that says it all, can i ask is she actually the boss of said company or just staff?? (Not knowing size of company your dealing with) if she is just staff you need to get above her, to the organ grinder and not the monkey so to speak

it was cold i was froze to the core after lol, i did heat the panels up a little so they were warm before applying (Not hot) just warm. The vnyl i am using is calendered vinyl, cheap stuff as its just for practice but i am starting think i should have used a higher class cast vinyl for this job. I will probably redo the whole lot again in 6 months when the weather gets warmer and try with a cast vinyl
It was good practice though and took me a lot longer than i thought it would

it is a hard situation for anyone to deal with as you dont want to lose a customer, especially in these economic times but a non paying customer takes up a lot of time with having to chase around and yes it maybe only $250 this time and the next 3 jobs of similar value maybe paid promptly but you only need 1 large order and "i'll pay when completed and installed" to happen and it could be detrementel to your own business.
I do hope you get it sorted without court action, most times any respectful company will not want there details listed in the courts section of the local paper for such a small amount and will just pay it,

well i spent all day sunday doing my first van, really too cold (6 degrees C there abouts), but i finished it. The vans owner is very pleased with it, i would say im about 75% pleased with it, i need to definetly redo 2 pieces on each of the front wings, ("FREE QUOTES") part,
Most of it ok i do have a few creases that i couldnt get out, i tried to do it wet app, very light misting but the vinyl just wouldn't stick so went to dry app instead.
now for the bit i need to redo, any any advice is greatly appreciated, i just cant not bend the vinyl over the curve without some serious creases, the curves goes in two directions, if it was jsut one it would be fine (hope that made sense)
Any critiscism good or bad will be gratfeully received opinions please, this wasn't a paid job other than the cost of vinyl this was more practice on a friends van lol
EDIT Soz for small pics camera settings were incorrect but i think you get the jist

Sorry but wheter its $1 or 1 million dollars it comes down to the principle of it, if it were me i would be chasing it and any further work would require 100% payment up front. I love it when people think there might be further oppourtunites with customers like this and even think they are good customers, definition of a good customer is one who pays on time, how much time have you wasted chasing this money with emails back and forth, if you have restricted cash flow that money could be holding up other work for "GOOD" customers not to mention charges you could incur for late payments on bills or worse still staffing payments.
Aside from the fact if you let the bill slide this time next time they may pay 100% up front but ask for credit againthe next time around, you will become an easy target for them
CHASE WHAT YOU ARE OWED, but most importantly change the way in which you deal with customers to ensure you dont get stung like this again,

i dont actually think my problem is the cutter i think its more of a combination of software (SBE) and the cutters internal memory, i see a lot of people shout "STATIC" with this kind of problem but again i dont think this is the issue due to the fact vinyl isnt even in the machine and its doing it. BUt the vinyl wastage is annoying, and the job im doing at the moment thanks to the slashing has made me short for the job so i have had to order a small roll 3 days after making a large vinyl order.
I do think they need to work on the USB connection problems though as serial ports are nearly non existant on new computers especially laptops
-
i didnt adjust any settings from the install as i really have no idea what to adjust, only changed the packet size to 1000kb as i read it on here but if anyone has a set of settings to try i will give it a go
Thanks

of thats the case id set my own webasite up with everything listed @99p lol

well i found this thread yesterday after deciding i really need an app tape roller after applying 24 inch app tape by hand and its a nightmare, anyway im in the UK and have spent about 3 hours now searching the net all major tool retailers and even the bay of rubbish and i can not find any of these, if i wnat a whole 2 metre table of them fine, but i can not get them as single items, if anyone in the UK has managed to source then please do share, if i find some i will be sure to post a link up for all
-
thats what i'm thinking as well. But like bannerjohn said prices of the graphtec are the same as USC. I wish there were a better way to see if they were a scam without forking over a ton of money then find out the hard way.
you might be able to blag then and tell them you have a friend/family member where they are that would like to pay cash on collection and see what their response is
-
i think it probably is too many things dont add up with the site in general, but sometimes these things do turn out to be real, but i can assure you i wont be testing that out with my money lol
-
i'd like to see a uScutter in the UK mayube a division could be callued UkCutter??

contact details are in Indonesia yet the site is registered in the netherlands and is only a few months old according to whois report, seems a little strange to me.
I also wouldn't trust that press release site, again if the company started in 2007 why a press release 2 years later??

well i got calle out to the van today as the rear panel has started to peel away, typically it was the panel (the only one i did wet), anyway i squeezed the water from the rain out of it and with a little heat tried to stick it back down, kept squeezing every last drop of water out of it, it looked good like it had taken, but it hadn't i just felt on dege to see if had stuck and the whole corner lifted again, the adhesive on the vinyl is non existant, so i guess i will just replace the whole again.
For future reference is there a proper way to fix such problems??
