  1. My other half has decided she wants some wall art (grrrr) but she managed to find the lowest res images possible and I can't find anything that matches it or close to it thats good enough to vectorise.  Can anyone help me with any of these, something even close to it would be good, vectorised already would be superb

    Any help is really appreciated.

  2. SBE is free at the end of the day and it does the job.  I actually used it to start and found it really easy to use, yes it maybe limited in some aspects but will still do 99% of most things you want it to do.  I actually use corel x5 to design now, saving as .eps and use SBE to cut.  If someone is simply wanting just text i will SBE as its so much quicker and just easier than anything else.

Like others have said put your hand in your pocket and actually buy some software that meets your needs rather than complaining about something that is free, you don't have to use it.

  3. Im using X5 with a refine MH721.  I hope you don't think though that you can just import a jpg and then save it as an eps ready to cut because it doesn't work like that, it'll need vectorising first and like others have said inkscape is free and is perfect for that sort of job.

Corel draw from 12 onwards will be fine.

  4. that is why there is a BLOCK buyers  section, on EBAY.  Even if I see a buyer that gave negative feedback  to another seller, for something really stupid.  I will block their dumb a**es,  CAUSE I sure don't want to deal with them either.  I have seen some buyers just really abuse the feedback system,  give everybody negatives.  JUst being a**es!!!!

LOL I am glad i'm not the only one to do that.

With ebay I received my first negative a few days from some decals I sell.  The picture shows 3 designs all in black, with 3 other pics of the same designs in blue, yellow and red.  A new ebayer with only 1 feedback bought them and left me a neg a week later, stating "not the colour as in the ad".  Now in the advert it states no less than 5 times if you leave no note when ordering design 1 in white will be sent.  I contacted ebay as he also gave me 1 star for item not described.  They said the advert was very clear but would not change the feedback as its not in covered in their dumb a$$ policy.  Anyway contacted the buyer in the end, showed him his error and he changed it after I resent a new one at his postage cost.

The thing is if you bought something from ebay and it wasn't as expected wouldn't you contacted the buyer first to try and resolve it before just giving a neg??

  5. X5 is better for speed I beleive especially if you have dual core + as it actually uses the processors better than x4 (that was what I was told anyway).  I never used x4 but find x5 quite easy to use and very intuitive compared with illustrator.

  6. I just used rectangle reg. marks and after i app. tape them, i cut the tape off right around the reg. marks. You just like up the 2 edges of the rectangles. I hope that made some sense.

I use a similar method, I use square/rectangle reg mark, tape it then with a scapel i cut out through the app tape cutting out the square/rectangle leaving a nice little window to line up the reg marks on the bottom layer.

  7. Read, practice, read, practice and continue.  I would say i'm at the same stage as yourself TBH but thankfully the net is full of information and tutorials on everything.  Like others have said find a program you like, inkscape is free so its good, but there are others which require a bit of investment.  Learn that one program really well rather than learning 3 programs a little bit and just keep pounding away at it.

    good luck

  8. There is another very easy way to line up reg marks when using paper app tape.  Tape up the top layer, you will see the reg marks through the paper app tape, carefully cut through the app tape cutting out your reg marks with a scapel.  Then you will be left with two holes too see where the reg marks are in the bottom layer line up, tape in place and apply couldn't be easier.

  9. Its nice, good loading times and very clean. Just a few points.

Add a Logo to the top of page so it will appear on every page

Your buttons overlap the picture on the left and they look like an after thought, maybe with a central logo at the top they could underneath and be centered.

I would suggest changing Design gallery to gallery but you have portfolio aswell so its a little confusing as it appears to be the same thing, maybe you have another word already in mind?

The top bar of IE (the blue bar can't remember technical name lol) edit that so instead of just home or portfolio displays your company name - Home etc.

Hope my constructive critism can help in some way, well done on doing it all yourself though it can be very time consuming as you probably already know lol

  10. have you set the workspace size to the correct size.  If you have it really large and you are creating graphics within the box not realising your work space is actually set to 3mx3m you may find that is the problem.

Try doing just basic square and circle and see if that cuts or not.

How is your cutter and computer connected usb to usb, usb to serial or serial to serial.

Have you got another computer you can try using to see if you get the same problem.
