How to create a variable width dashed and curved line?
Spinnetti replied to Spinnetti's topic in Adobe Illustrator
Thanks for the advice, I'll definately give that a try. Will that last tip allow me to both vary the width and the length? (as the road gets "closer", the line should get longer AND wider)... I've finished the project for the moment (graphics are on the car), but it doesn't mean I won't redo it if I get it just right thanks. -
When I paste from Illy, the invisible bounding box always cuts along with the image. How do I get rid of it? THanks..

How to create a variable width dashed and curved line?

Ok, I'm making some progress, and ALMOST have something I can work with (except the variable line thing).. So this is probably pretty basic, but in the red section, right now the thin white line and the numbers/letters are just sitting on TOP of the red color. I want it to "knock out" the Red along that path (otherwise doesn't work on the cutter software. Should be easy I would think, but missing something.. how do I do that? TIA. -

Thanks, thats sorta the idea, but what I'm looking for is a variable Width line (not length of the dashes) - basically I want to taper the width from the bottom of the image to the end of it as it goes off to infinity in the background. I got it dashed, but not tapered (also from a perspective standpoint, wouldn't the dashes be Longer in the foreground, not shorter?) BTW, I made my first "real" graphic image on the cutter today. Worked really well. Only weirdness is that when I cut and paste from Illy and cut, it cuts the bounding box, even though thats not visible in the preview. Any way to get rid of that cut? Thanks!. -

sure. I'm half ashamed of it as I'm not much of an artist.. only part I know I like is the "Road" part.. just that the line doesn't work. Needs to be dashed, and go from a point to kinda thick. -

Hmm interesting idea. Might be worth a try... My "road" took a while to get just right, and its a bit more stylized, going to a point, but if I can't figure out the line itself, I'll try this idea.. Thanks! -

I'm still learning illy, and want to do a graphic of a curved road going off into the distance. I've got the road created fine, but need to do the center line. I did a path like I like, but how to turn that into a dashed line, wider at one end than the other? (and have it be a knock out to the "road" behind it? Thanks. -
Noob Question.. Can I just cut right from illustrator?

Noob Question.. Can I just cut right from illustrator?

I just got my cutter and dread having to learn more software if I can avoid it. I'm just wanting to cut simple shapes, and wonder if I can just use Bezier curves (non filled) and "print" as HPGL right to my new PCUT machine, or would I still have to go through the cutter software anyway? TIA.
