  1. Ok, so I've had my 871 grounded from the machine to the stand since it's been out of the box. Just recently I'm getting blade drags through some of the Oracal 631 I'm cutting. I do pull the roll out to prevent static electricity. I've read that this problem has happened with others. Does anyone have any suggestions. It's not a horrible dragging problem, but it's definitely cutting through parts of graphics where it's not supposed to. Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. I can't get this feature to work on some eps files. For example, simple text that I've done, I don't have a problem ungrouping and taking each letter out or whole sentences. But some of my graphics, for example 4 different dog silhouettes, I can't seem to split apart. The unsplitting feature messes up some of the graphics by adding an extra grey color to cut. Ungrouping should work, but it is not on some graphics. Has anybody had this issue or know what I could be doing wrong? Thanks a lot in advance

    Ungrouping Objects in Signblazer??

hey thanks again for the reply. When I get home I'm going to try it again. If I remember right, I tried to combine just the one dog and the grey that showed up from originally splitting the objects was still there. I'll try again here and report back.

    Ungrouping Objects in Signblazer??

Hey thanks for the reply. I can do this, and if I can't figure out another way, this is what I'll have to do. The reason I'm trying to figure it out the other way is for two color decals. I could split the graphic, take out one color, cut the first color, then reopen the graphic to the same size cut the next color.

    Ungrouping Objects in Signblazer??

Hey I really really appreciate the reply. What I'm trying to do is just unsplit 4 simple silhouette dogs from each other that are in one eps file. Like your saying, when I do that, parts of the enclosed graphic on the silhouettes turns grey giving me another cutting color. So, basically it takes out detail if I just try to cut the black part of the vector. If I split the objects, delete the three I don't need, should I be able to combine the one object, and the grey will be gone?
  8. Hey, thanks for the reply. It's definitely dropping the blade down. It's about five or six inches going from one graphic to the next.
  9. Should I ground the thing more than once?? The only thing I can think of is that I run a humidifier in the same room as the cutter for our DTG machine, but as far as I know it has never made the thing make random cuts. I don't even know that the humidifier could cause that. Hmmmmm
  10. Just wanted to update this thread and ask if anyone had any special secrets or tricks to how they install large wall decals? Do you all remove the backing before placing the large decal on the wall? Do you tape the design onto the wall from the top, and then remove the backing? Just wanted to get some input on this? Thanks in advance.
  11. Ok, so the dimensions of this tree that I need to cut and send to the customer are 60" wide by 44.5" wide. I'm using a Refine 871. I am going to need to tile cut the design in Signblazer. This is my first large wall decal, so could you all help me. The vinyl is 24" wide by 10 yards, so I can do 3 tiles if I cut it horizontally or 2 tiles if I cut it vertically. The thing about cutting it vertically is that it will be 60" wide through the cutter. Will the cutter be able to handle that without getting off? Also, will it still be easy for the customer to apply it? Thanks a ton in advance. [ftp=ftp://][/ftp]
  12. Hey thanks! That one is only 7" by 7" that I did for a test, but we had a customer just order it 2 feet by 2 feet. Thanks man!

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

Ok, I got 10 squeegees for .73 a piece, the roll of tape for 63.10 and two day shipping at 8.70 for a total of $79.10. Not to mention they sent me two rolls of 15" X2 yds of red hi cal vinyl.

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

The tape was suggested to me by an Oracal rep. Has anybody used it or had any experience with it with 631 removable vinyl? I've had some issues getting the vinyl to peel off the backing using medium tack tape. Thanks for any replies.

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

Oh, cool! I'll go look and see how much it is. I got 24" by 100 yd for $63.00 from R & J. Just make sure it's 4076 instead of 4075. I found that most places don't have the 4076 in stock because it's a more specialty tape, so they have to order it. R & J carries it in stock.

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

I got it from here. http://www.rjsign.com/ I talked to Barry the owner on the phone. He was super nice and helpful. They are based out of MO. I live in Oklahoma and it took 2 days to get to me. They also sent me a bunch of free vinyl to try and all kinds of catalogs. I've only ordered this one thing from them, but I know I'll be ordering my tape from them from now on.
  17. Hey thanks for the kind words man. I'll see if I can get one up here soon.
  18. Wow wow wow! R tape 4076 high tack is the sh@#t for Oracal 631! I just did a test cut of a 7" by 7" Bob Dlyan in tourquise vinyl with a lot of detail. Some of the small pieces of vinyl where less than 1/4" inch maybe 1/8". That 4076 picked it right up with no problem whatsoever and put it on the wall with no problem. I didn't even have to squeegee that hard! I did lower my pressure on my refine to 40 g. In combination with the tape, it works wonders. Just wanted to pass this info along for anyone doing wall decals with 631. Thanks for everyone's input on this forum. You all really do rock.

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

Just got the 4076 in the mail. Just to the feel, I thought it would be stickier than it is. Hmm, won't know till I try it. It is a paper tape, where as I was using a clear tape. I really hope this lifts 631 well.

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

Hey, thanks for the reply. If it works any better than the medium tack I was working with, i'll be pretty happy. I think I'll even try lowering my cutting blade lower than 60 g, but that seems like it would be too low. I know that there is a solution as there are many companies successfully selling wall vinyl.

No one has used this tape for Wall Vinyl?

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

I sure will. Oracal said it would work well so we'll see. I've heard of the "cutting too deep" problem, but I'm using a 60 downforce. It barely if at all makes a mark on the backing. So, it can't be the downforce. Somebody else on here was talking about 4076 as what they use. Maybe they'll see this and say something. If anyone else has experience with 631 and tape 4076, please give us some input.

Oracal 631 and R Tape High Tack 4076

Hey, thanks for the reply Christi! You think the 4076 is going to make a much larger difference than the medium tack clear tape? I know it's stickier, but did you have problems with the vinyl lifting with it? I've been using that method, turning it over and pulling the backing from the design. It would lift the larger parts of the designs, but the smaller ones 1" by 1" were having a hell of a time. I started helping them along with the knife. I've got three wall orders to complete in the next week, and i get this tape on Friday. I just hope it works a significant amount better, as I don't want to send things out that are ridiculously hard for the customer to handle.
