I am trying to make some 2 color decals with just names. The problem is I can not figure out how to change the "size" of what will be the top layer. I have a font picked out.. I searched and searched on here I only found 1 thread that was close and it referred to using SB and using the inline/outline to do what I want but I tried this and all it did was make my bottom layer solid in the middle with just an outline. I am posting a similar logo for what I want to do but instead of the Tigers I want to use my own text.

Awesome Thanks guys!!! I was really close just had to use the inline instead of the outline plus I had to blow the text up to get the desired effect then shrink it back down but that is more or less what I was looking for... I just wish my LXi offered that so I didn't have to try and transfer my project over from there to SignBlazer

Form W-9 Help Please
Dr12volt1338 replied to SpareParts's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Yes if they want you to fill it out then they are going to 1099 you at the end of the tax year. You will have to report it and pay the taxes on it. I have a few local contracts with some schools and larger corporations who also require me to get paid this way. It's not a big deal just doing it with your SSN just factor it in with your taxes at the end of the year. Luckily I have a good tax guy who takes care of this all for me and I don't have to worry about it. -
How do you price?

Thanks vinyl that gives me a good insight. Looks like I will just stick to my flat rater per square foot and hope for the best on this one. I have been doing it long enough I can wing it on other things like is someone wants a windshield strip or something. Thank You much -
Thanks Bam!

I was charging just a flat rate per square foot for the vinyl that gave my customer a price in there head for the things I have already designed and cut. Now thanks to this I have a better idea on how to charge for things I have to edit. What do you guys do for craft shows? I am attending my first one this weekend and am kind of stressed on how I should charge and what to make to bring and what to hold off on and make when I get there... Also I see people cutting the stick figure families what are you guys charging for those? I do a family of 4 with a pet and the family last name at $15 some say that is cheap and some say that is outrageous. (that usually includes me running out and installing it real quick too) -
Very cool I have been looking to build something like this as I am always masking on my own and waste alot of it no more of that in my fututre...Good Job RH!!

Need some vinyl cut for me
Dr12volt1338 replied to smallTIMER's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I know this is an older post but what I do is load the material on my cutter like normal manually run the material to the length I need making sure that it tracks good and straight then I take my olfa knife pierce it just on my side of the roller then manually run the material back the other way making sure to hold my knife steady. I do this alot with making like 1 and 2 inch pin stripes for boats and what not. -

Thats a great guide Thanks... I have been doing this for a while now and am just now getting to where I am actually setting rates. I come up with a flat rate per square foot and if the design time is prolonged I will charge accordingly for that but I think I like your system even better now I just need to figure out the numbers to actually work where I am. -
I remember seeing a football in a baseball glove but can not remember where if I can locate it again I will put it up... Maybe someone else remembers it also.

Awesome!!!! what kind of copyright is on that is that something I can legally cut and sell or hand out?

I am trying to open multiple files at once in signblazer so I can print off a catalog of some samples of designs I have but everytime I try it wants me to save the already opened file and then start a new one.. Anyone know how to do this or if it is even possible??? Thank You

I am having some trouble with this. I am trying to eliminate the lines and cuts or part of the graphic that is "behind" the softball on here... When I open the file in Adobe Illustrator it is exactly how I want it to look when I cut it but when I cut it all the lines from behind the ball also cut. When I try to delete the nodes in Inkscape it is altering the whole bat. What I am trying to get is for it to cut just how it looks. I am not asking anyone to do this for me but maybe some quick steps in the right direction. Maybe node editing isn't the way I want to go. I appreciate any help at all Thank You! softball flames.eps

There is a link for the download of Signblazer in the signblazer topic as far as cutting with your version of Corel I am not sure I use Coreldraw12 and as long as I export from there as EPS and import to Signblazer mine cuts just fine.

Sorry I didn't click the upload button the first time. I got the lines in the back ground to stop cutting by tracing it like 1 of the videos showed. I did have to uninstall and reinstall my inkscape because it would not trace before for some reason. As I read more and more I think I am getting where I want to be. I need to make the outline of the ball thicker and make the inside of the bat handles solid or change them so I can weed them properly. I am getting there and as I said the biggest part of my problem was inkscape was not cooperating and I had to reinstall it now it seems most of the functions are working. As on a seperate note I also have corelTrace is that a better program then Inkscape or what are the pros and cons of either one? I have alot of experience with cutting vinyl lettering but this world of graphics and vectorizing is all pretty new to me.
