I was looking into cling wrap for some temporary decals but would like to use something different. I haven't purhcased a vinyl printer as of yet but am looking to. What I want is something with a low tac that is easibly removable but can be printed on. I have clear transfer tape and the tac on that would be almost perfect just enough to stick to flat aluminum plates but easily removable when it comes time to change the design. I am open to any reasonable printer hoping to get out for less then $300. I have no need to really print an wider then 14" or any longer then like 28". I would like the material I am printing on to be clear in nature for the most part but in the future may have a use for colored material.

Ok my lack of patience has just led me to go to my local store and buy an epson WorkForce 1100. I now just need to know what to do about temporary vinyl I can print on. http://www.papilio.com/inkjet%20waterproof%20removable%20vinyl%20media.html. That is a site I found but can't locate and prices. I also need to print 11x 28 is the final size of my product so with what I am doing this is going to do me no good as it only shows there in sheets of 8.5x11. I know the epson says it will print in format up to 44". The salesman told me thats not really true that is should print to any length that my software supports. I have been reading on the Oracle 631.. Is this vinyl inkjet safe with the epson 1100? I uploaded a rough sample of what I will be printing the size is 27x11.

I have a customer looking to replace these flames on his sled. Just the black flames from the hood up along the side. They don't have to be exact and I have the measurements here I just don't have a flame anything like that in which I can stretch and make work. I need something flat along the bottom with the flames working towards the back like in the photo. I know these are multiple color but he wants them in just black. I searched here and found a few flames but none that will work with what I am doing. I contacted Polaris as he did and these decals have been discontinued that is why I am making them and the customer has requested only 1 color. I appreciate any help!!

Is there anywhere I can get a template for this sled and or flame? I just spoke with the customer and as long as the black flame fits below the silver one and works it way towards the back he will be very happy.

I use the same thing I use when I tint windows.... Baby shampoo and water. 32 oz spray bottle with 3 squeezes of the baby shampoo.. Not an exact science but I have filled millions of bottles so I have a good feel for the proper squeeze. Don't use medicated shampoo just buy the cheapest baby shampoo you can find.

Do you have a link to that font I googled it and haven't found the right one yet. Or just the site you got it from please?

I have a customer who wants a sign made with his logo on it. However all he has available is his business card with the logo on it. I tried to trace the image in Inkscape but it will never clean up to where it needs to be. My question is.. Is there an easier way to convert that JPEG I scanned his card in into a cuttable image. I have Inkscape SB Illustrator and Corel Draw 12 and am somewhat familiar with all of them. He has a website but all of the images saved from there are also just JPEG. I appreciate any help.

The biggest thing is make sure the images are all in the right format.. The search here on the forums can be your best friend. Try going to the graphic request and search for a peace sign. It's a great place to start your library. There are also some great videos on SB and Inkscape in their appropriate sections. Good Luck and welcome to the world of vinyl cutting!!

Thats a matter of personal preference but I use google for everything. It just seems faster and returns results more of what I am looking for.

I think you are really on to something with that one... I do believe for what I am doing with it I can make it work. I really appreciate it. Can I ask what program and steps you took to do that?

Your talking about using the pen tool in Inkscape? What if its a multiple color image? I'll insert the image above if I can

I have 3 machines that I use all working on USB. I am looking for a hub or other solution to have all of these plugged in at once as I am constantly getting error messages saying I have failed to plug in my device (due to something else being plugged in). I have 3 ports on my laptop however 2 of them are in constant use my the dongle key for my LXi and Mouse. That leaves me always switching my machines between. I know everyone says not to use Hubs with these devices but am wondering if anyone has and if they could share their experience good or bad. It is a laptop so I don't have the option to use the serial port and I have a few towers I could bring in just no funds to buy a monitor at this time. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the time its only for a windshield banner and they want to see what its going to look like in a certain font as for designs and big jobs I don't allow anyone to over see me that is all done through emails. I agree I do remote starts here and hate when someone thinks they are going to stand behind me and watch. For 1 I am not going to show them how to do it and 2 I just hate it!

I am trying to taper text. Is there a way to do it short of adjusting the size of each letter? I need to start at 1.5" and end up at 3" over the course 12" then reverse it for the other side. I was hoping there was a shortcut I was missing somewhere.

When I email drafts I do export as a JPEG but when the customer is sitting here looking at how text will look in a certain font it always seems "choppy" around the edges I am just going to have to get used to SB again though it will save me a ton of time in some of the upcoming projects.

My only real problem I have had with it is the edges on anything I look at in SB look jagged and distorted on the screen. When I do projects and show my customers the screen the images just don't seem as clean and crisp as they do in LXi even though they cut just fine.

That is AWESOME!!! I really really need to start using SB again.. I gave it up because I like the look of LXi better but I need to revert back again... Thanks Again John

I usually cut with LXi apprentice but I have SB Corel Draw 12 Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator.

With this job they are very temp so durability is no issue. The designs will all be different the concept for this is like the place mats in diners with all the different ads on them except we are doing them in cling and sticking them on a piece of tin attached to the wall. Will the inkjet work with this type of application? Printing on white would be just fine with me I don't care what the background color is.

I have a buddy who does alot with computers he has a couple of 17" flat panels but I had a 19" and I think I want to go to like a 21" or so.... I have never heard of 256mb sticks being worth that much.. must be something really rare or not made anymore??

My cousin is in the Army and getting into the 75th and has asked if I can make these for him. I played with it in Inkscape and got it close but need it to look cleaner. Maybe someone already has this or just the banner I will match the text and add that in myself please and thanks. 75th.svg

I just found another logo someone contacted me from Alaska wanting and I said I couldn't cut it becuase I couldn't get it to trace clean now that I know the SVG trick I will be able to complete it for her..... I am so appreciative!!!! I hope some day I can return the favor
