Ready to change cutter software, any advice?

Thank you! That was all great information! I know that I'm using a lower end cutter, but i don't have too much extra to spend on a real higher priced one. If I could find something good in the $400-$500 range, I would be interested. I will also look into the other ideas you gave. One problem I have had, is that I can only use my Vista PC to cut with. I have a laptop with Windows 7 and can't get it to work at all. I thought that it might be a memory problem with the cutter, but hadn't thought that there would be a (semi) fix for that. As far as my cutter goes, this was some of the best advice I've gotten on this forum. Many people have given me some good information on other stuff, but I've had a mess of a time getting info on my cutter, even from US Cutter. They just left me stranded on my last job ticket I put in. They asked me some questions about my cutter, I answered, then never heard back from them, even after sending 2 more reminder emails about the problem. I don't hold US Cutter support in high regard. This forum and other users are far superior and more helpful.
  2. I'm currently using the trial version (like practically everyone that has it) of Signblazer software, and am tired of a few things with it. I'm not sure if it is part of my cutter problems or not, but I hate having to go through the trial flag that counts up to how many times I've opened it before I use it, and I do think it has some problems, and they can't be addressed anymore. I've used it for over a year, and it's fine for a beginner, but I want something better. I'm not looking for free software, but something that works with fewer flaws than Signblazer, and something that looks and feels like it was made in the last 5 years and will work with Vista or 7 64 bit systems. I am using an MH-721 cutter, and have problems with it. I can cut 2-3 images fine, then it will stop cutting in the middle of a third cut. I can sometimes turn off the cutter and then back on, sometimes have to shut down Signblazer, but sometimes it takes a PC reboot to ensure I can make the full cut again. That's just not right. I figure better software will give me some better results, and just looking for some opinions. Thanks!

    workforce 1100

I'm leaning towards buying this from cobra inks and this thread has been very helpful. A) One thing I would like to get feedback on, is the difference in the high temp ink, pigment ink, and dye ink. I will be using it mainly for t-shirt transfers, but would like to expand to doing flyers, business cards, and other things besides just t-shirts. C)Do you get good quality transfer on colored t-shirts? I sell a lot of dark color shirts and would like to be able to transfer to them as well as white. Thanks for the help!

    Epson 1100 and photo transfers

Both of those look great. I was wondering how it would look if I printed off a lot of small type, like you see on concert shirts of a bands tour schedule, or the hold high school shirts that had everyones name on the back of the shirt that graduated that year. Those low quality transfers you get at walmart and places like that, and iron on, are terrible. I just wonder if the quality you are using is very much better.

    Epson 1100 and photo transfers

I am with claw he has done way more than me but the ones I have done the people love and they are holding up great, I just did this for a friend and look how nice the photo transfered to the shirt a beefy 100% cotton white. mr300, on that sleeve transfer that says "your host kathryn", does the transfer leave any residue inside the lettering that is noticable? Right now I only do vinyl transfers and when I have an order of 10 shirts or so, it can get tedious to weed out that much vinyl. I want to order the 1100 to help out in that way, plus some multi color logos.
  6. I've used Siser Easyweed on 50/50 and 100% cotton with great success, but what about the material that polo shirts are made of? Would Siser work well on that or is there a special vinyl material to use for those? Thanks

    Vote of confidence for USCutter

I can't say the same with the problem that I had. I made one phone call to tech support in which the person was not very helpful, giving me instructions on things I had already tested, like unplugging the usb cable, rebooting the computer, setting the com port; all of the typical stuff that even pc novices know to do. The second was a support ticket through US Cutter's website, in which I got one email reply, then was just left for dead after I replied back, twice. Last summer I used tech support, got good support and posted that the problem was mine and US Cutter did a good job, but this most recent time, it was very unprofessional.

    MH721 Won't Lift

I haven't seen Jimmie's' thread, but agree with him 100%. On my last tech support ticket to US Cutter, I received one reply. I replied to that one on three occasions, and have not heard a single thing back from them. They just left me out in the cold without giving a crap about helping me with my issue. This one was an email from Levi. I will NOT be telling anyone I know to buy anything from US Cutter.

    Printers for Shirt Press

Are you guys saying that these "inkjet" printers are good enough for quality transfers? I know the transfer paper I've seen at locals places like Office Depot or Wal Mart aren't something you would use to sell t-shirts, but buying quality transfers and using on of these sub $200 epson inkjet printers like the 1100 do that good of a job? If so, I'm going to think about adding that to my set up.

The MH-721 thread, let's discuss connections

Everyone, I appreciate all of your help and suggestions on this so far. I'm going to go into those settings in my device manager like hockey girl said and double check the usb connection as well. I might be frustrated with my cutter and the tech support, but the forum people really do a great job helping each other out.

The MH-721 thread, let's discuss connections

Okay, here is the latest, and still nothing is working, and US Cutter has failed to reply to my ticket (this company is officially on my "they suck" list). I rarely get off work in time to call them, and when I open a support ticket, I got one reply then no one ever got back with me. hockeygirl, I have tried 3 different USB cables that all work on other hardware, so that's not the cause. Here is what I've got on my desktop computer ports: LPT1 LPT2 LPT3 COM1 COM2 COM3 COM4 FILE MICROSOFT DOCUMENT IMAGING WRITER PORT XPS PORT USBONE In my signblazer port set up with USB connected, I get: BLAZER.COM3: - USB SERIAL PORT This one is what I've always used and it used to work, now stops cutting in the middle of project. COM1 - Software sends to cutter but cutter does nothing BLAZER.COM1-COMMUNICATION PORT - Software sends to cutter but cutter does nothing I thought serial to serial was supposed to be THE fix? I can't get the cutter to budge unless I'm using USB, in which it's hit or miss whether it finishes or not.

    MH-721 computer to cutter issue

The MH-721 thread, let's discuss connections

I was using COM3, which had always been working great. I don't know why it all of a sudden just stopped working. I made no changes from when it worked great.

The MH-721 thread, let's discuss connections

That's my next plan! Thanks for the com1 setting suggestion.
  15. I've put in a support ticket on Monday night and got a reply back at 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Replied back on the ticket Tuesday evening, and as of today, still haven't heard back from US Cutter. I am losing my faith in this company VERY fast. I was using USB to USB connections with no problems, then all of a sudden the cutter couldn't complete a job without freezing. I have been told to go with a USB to serial or serial to serial, so I'm working on getting that cable to try it. Tonight, after not getting a reply from my tech support ticket for the second day, I decided to check the crappy instructions that came with the MH-721 again to see what else I could find out. It states in the first part that the Parallel Printer/LPT1 Port is the "recommended method to connect the PC and the cutter. I had a brand new unused parallel to parallel cable, about 4' long that I connected. I made sure the computer had nothing set to LPT1 and then set the Signblazer software to LPT1. Imported an image, sent it to the cutter...nothing. Rebooted. Created some text in Signblazer, sent it to the cutter...nothing. The software opened the sending box and completed but the cutter never did anything. So, what am I doing wrong? I'll tell you what, I've stumped every user and the US Cutter support team on this one.
