Dakota...The sublimation flippies are so cute too. I think you might be on to something

ooooo...jfought...thanks. I would love to know your contact, I don't know anyone in the Upstate of SC that does laser cutting. I really appreciate all of your input. I think those things are sooo cute, and they would love them here in SC.

Maybe they are acrylic. At least that what it sounds like. So, they are hot in FLA? Any idea where they come from?

I don't know if they were pvc...but that's what it looked like. The polka dots were sublimation, but the monogram was a vinyl decal. The substrate itself looked about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Any ideas? The car it was on was park in front of my shop. When I went back out with a camera, it was gone..oh well.

I saw the cutest car tag the other day. It was what looked like a routed flip flop with vinyl cutouts decorating it. I immediately went online looking for what looked like a pvc cutout. I am unable to find anything at all. I am hoping one of you vinyl guru's might know where I could put my hands on some of these gems. Any help is greatly appreciated....as always.

Welcome from South Carolina

Hi from South Carolina.
I bought my laserpoint in Feb 09. I mainly do the same thing as you...wall decals, stick people, banners ..small detailed stuff...
I have loved my laserpoint! I am a graphic designer by profession, so, I had some background with different types of software. I had very few problems! My only issue was a cord connection that, with the help of this great forum, I was able to correct.
I design everything in Illustrator and copy it to SignBlazer. I guess Signblazer has gone through some issues, because, I still use it as a full trial version...that makes me a little uncomfortable. But hey, it works. I wish that didn't have to use it, but it's what I chose when I purchased my cutter. If you have the $$$, I would invest in FlexiSign. It seems to be a pretty well rounded professional cutting program.
Oh..one more thing....Someone suggested getting a 60 degree blade. I did..and wow! Big difference for me with the details.
Good luck and take that plunge!

Did you get your problems solved? If not, I can expand it in Illustrator for you...let me know.
-
Are you making your resolution 300dpi? It all takes practice. Great ideas are wonderful, but if you aren't great with the software....its tough.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. I myself am putting a lock on my artwork....lol

I can't see Billy's posts either :-

Just a reply to all of you who helped me. I used some matte finish spray..and guess what? The vinyl stuck like a charm.
Thankyou

HI HI! I purchased a lazer point in Feb from US Cutter. I feel a bit fortunate. Other than some hookup problems that I had to work through, I have absolutely loved it! My question is this....They sent me a pack of blades, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out what size they are. I have used and reused these blades, and I desperately need to order some. I would like blades for cutting the oracal vinyl (reg decal), and then I would like to order some for cutting sign blasting mask. I figure two size blades. I would really like some opinions about which is preferred for different applications.
Again Thanks,
I am loving this business!

I tried the alcohol...it doesn't seem to matter.

I have been using my laserpoint for several months, and I have had very little problems. My issue is with the substrate, and I hope someone out there has more knowledge and can lead me in the right direction.
Question: I am creating a sign for a client. He wanted the vinyl placed on painted wood and provided me with a painted blank done in an exterior gloss paint. I cut the vinyl with no problems...however, I cannot for the life of me get it to stick to the blank. What is with this? Anyone have any suggestions? I need to finish this tomorrow, and I have cut several pieces of vinyl, but no matter how I put it on, it won't stick. Any responses or suggestions would be helpful. Maybe, I will just order an aluminum bland and start over...

I had some of the same issues using the USB port. I downloaded driver updates..thats what worked for me.

Assuming you can buy wholesale....Go to www.Growll.com I use them for almost all of my printing needs. Their business cards start at $28.00 for 500. They also do nice work. But the key here is...you have to have your retail license.
help again grrrrr
