  1. we roll out the vinyl behind the cutter but don't prefeed the entire amount. We do check that it running straight but what else would happen if we did a prefeed all the way? Why would that work?

  3. 560 square feet of material just for the sign. You are going to need some way to put it up straight. We would be at $3500, maybe more. Add 2 zeros to your price before the dot.

    Help with 500 piece order.

We would have no problem doing these as vinyl or as transfers but I would check with a local screen printer also. The big problem is having enough juice for all the mouths to feed along the way.

    Pricing Help

$40 sounds reasonable if it is close by.
  6. We use Sign Mart in Orange CA. Free shipping for orders over $100. Fellers is similar. We only order in 50 yard rolls any more. We go through 25 yards a week on average.

i need the restricted logo (r with circle around it)

the r with the circle is the registered trademark symbol. just to clarify
  8. where is the banner going to be displayed? If it is going to catch wind you will need to check with the city for specs on what it needs to be hung up. Are you hanging it? For cut vinyl we would be around $2000 for 40x8. For printed we would be $3500 at least, maybe $4000.
  9. ;) why would any business not claim an expense. doing so would increase their net and thus increase their income tax ??? why would you care how they do their accounting?

    How Legit are your businesses?

We are a C-Corp with a storefront in a retail area. if your company name has your name like Mike Dow Industries then you don't need to do anything for fileing. Sole Prop with a biz name, file a dba with your county and post notice in local paper LLC, LLP, S corp, C corp, register with your secretary of state Other things to do: Get an EIN from the IRS (free) Register with your county if required Register with your city if required Get a separate bank account if not a sole prop although you could if you want Get insurance Before you do any of this, find a tax guy (CPA) and buy an hour or 2 of time to discuss what you want to do. You might want to keep doing it as a hobby until you are making a profit.

    Pricing guide help

you really have to look at your costs and your market. the place across the street from us, and i mean we can see him out our window, sells printed banners at $4/sqft. that is below our cut vinyl pricing for banners. We would never sell even cut vinyl for that price. as for rta, we havent sold anything larger than a foot long but we do charge quite a bit more for rta because of the quantity involved and the amount of work. these are normally window decals or bumper stickers where banners are normally larger graphics. our highest price per sqft is with vehicle or window applied graphics. the short answer is you need to figure out your cost and what you want to make. here is an example of pricing and profit. you purchase a resale product for 25c each. if you sell them for 50c you make a nice margin. if you sell them for $1 you make a better margin but will expect to sell less at the higher price. however, you only need to sell 34 units at $1 to make the same profit at 50c sales price for 100 units. what have you done? you have lessened your exposure to risk by only purchasing 34 units for sale freeing up money for other things, you have reduced your space needed for inventory reducing your rent or overhead, you have done less work and thus have spent less to make the sale, and you had more time to do other money making things (or take time off!) all for the same profit number of dollars.

24" Roland color camm pro pc-600

even if it just cuts for 500 not a bad deal. the printing will be a little expensive but compared to $20K for a new model, you are far ahead.
  14. Sub this out for printing. Merritt Graphics has good pricing for wholesale work. Your cost will be lower and your time will be free to do other things. and, most important, collect up front.
  15. Make sure you are removing the paper backing on the vinyl too.

    Pricing Question

We take size of print into consideration. The EW product if you buy it 15"x50 yards at a time is about $1.93/linear foot. You need to take waste into consideration. We figure we will use the entire foot and 15". Our price would be between $8 and $10 for 30 copies if it isn't too complicated and using a Gildan 2000 6.1oz shirt. Figure for a 12 inch print $4 for the shirt and $4 for the material and add a complexity factor to that. If the customer supplies the shirt we add $2 to the price to make up for lost margin on the shirt so we would be around $7 for 30 copies. This is a great opportunity to upsell. Girls/Women like sparkle and fancier shirts. We do the womens shirt for car clubs, normally a womans tank or cap sleave with glitter vinyl and while the margin is the same the dollar volume is larger. You can get $16-$25 per girls shirt with glitter vinyl. Make a few examples to show and it will be an instant sell.

Just a thought on selling wholesale...

ask for a valid sellers permit number and a tax id.
  22. Our lp paid for itself on the first job we did. It runs up to 10-14 hours a day pretty much non-stop cutting apparel vinyl. For short runs it beats screen printing and for small details on dark garments it beats screen printing hands down. We are able to compete against screen printing on almost every job we do for t's with this cutter and we can turn an order in just a few hours if we have the shirts in stock.

    Would you be mad?

Wow, such anger in some responses. My original response was to not donate if that pisses you off. Now I am attacked because I don't donate goods and services? Go pound sand. We will partner with any legitimate charity organization to yield both a profit for us and fundraising for them. We even do no-risk plans where they only purchase what they sell. But we do not just give away product. That is all, no more, no less. A legitimate charity in California has 1) a 501©3 from the SOS in California 2) a sellers permit from the BOE in California and collects or pays sales tax for all sales 3) has a stated purpose for the funds raised and uses the funds for what they state which is required by not-for-profit corps 4) spends or uses 90% of the funds raised within California If I donate the goods then I have to pay sales tax on them. If they sell them they must collect or pay sales tax on the sale as well.
  24. second that one. this is a loose-loose situation if you screw up his material. you either have to replace it or he gets angry with you.
