I agree, too much blade exposure.
Also, I noticed that your offset is off, if you look at the letter "E" in June, for example - the cut isn't very even and square.
What size is the smallest text you are trying to cut?? it might be possible that you are trying to cut too small for the machine...

Definitely need a carrier sheet and a 60 degree blade to cut cardstock. As far as thickness of cardstock you can use it would depend on the cutter, most of the budget / hobby cutters do not have enough downforce / pressure to cut the heavier cardstock...

Instead of opening up your pc and installing a parallel port card, this parallel to usb adapter might work.

Why not switch to Oracal 751? it has better outdoor durability (8 yrs vs 5-7 yrs for the 7125) and is about 1/2 the price?
