My husband asked me to try and duplicate his truck sign. It was hand painted many years ago. I only have a cricut to cut with, and had a dickens of a time trying to do the tin-snips. Going 55 mph down the road it doesn't look too bad! I think I'm beginning to enjoy this new hobby. Original: New one:

Thanks for all the encouraging comments! Also the tip on rounding the edges.

I have a cricut and use a program called Sure Cuts a Lot with it. The program lets you cut any font on your computer, dinbats, designs that you create or svg files. Your computer is connected to the cricut with a USB cord. I found the cartridges for the cricut to be too expensive and so started using this software. Link is to the software. http://www.craftedge.com/index.html

I love to do crafts and have been playing around more with vinyl. Cut with a cricut. A few things I did for our church. sign for picnic table Grandson's room

Many craft people that have a cricut would love scraps! When I first started cutting vinyl with my cricut I asked a local sign company for their scraps. Maybe spread the word that the scraps are free for the taking.

What is the best free software to download for eps to svg converter???
Linda1 replied to sfandm's topic in General discussion
I use a program called Scribus. It was a free download. I import the eps file then export it as a svg. It works great for most files that I have tried to convert. -
Using your vinyl plotter to decorate cakes??

Several people have used their cricut expression. They move the rollers to the side. I use the program from Craft Edge and haven't bought a cartridge in over a year. -
I have the cricut which is a small cutter that uses a mat. This limits your length to 23.5 inches. My daughter asked me to figure out a way to cut a tribal art design for her husbands truck. I was able to make it 69 inches in 4 sections with each section having a slight overlap. My question is should it be applied with the overlap or should we butt the joints?

Yes, I use the oracal 631 for wall art and 651 for outdoor items. The Oracal 631 is the same vinyl that cricut sells at an inflated price. I buy mine from USCutter in the 24"x 10 yard rolls. I cut off 12 inch sections and they fit the 12x24 mat. Much cheaper than then getting it from cricut.

Thanks for the advice. I'll overlap it towards the back.

I didn't make the glass block. Just used the photo to show the santa file. I will be making one though! Here is a link to the cricut forum. They have a vinyl section. http://www.cricut.com/ I also go to the craftedge forum. They share svg files that I cut with a program called sure cuts a lot. http://forums.surecutsalot.com/index.php

This is a svg file that someone shared on the cricut forum.

Sorry to say, I'm 60.

Yep, that says it all. I bet they would be a good seller on base. My husband was in the Air Force for 20 years and he had a remote tour for a year and was gone TDY weeks at a time. But, we also got travel and see many places we wouldn't have had the opportunity to see.

I work in a church and we have bats all the time. I usually use a dustpan and scoop them up and toss outside. This guy did not want to cooperate!

More firsts for me. Ok well the first week's worth

Peppermint, I use the cricut too to cut vinyl. I haven't bought a cartridge in almost a year. Instead I bought the program Sure Cuts A lot by craft edge. With it you can use any font you have on your computer. -
I love this little tool. It is easy to hold and the curve of the hook makes it easy to use. It is part of this kit that I bought to use with my cricut. The kit cost about $18.

Just a few things made with my cricut. Once people realized my scrap booking machine could do vinyl lettering, I've been asked to help with a few projects. I'm sure the these projects would be better if done with professional equipment, but no complaints so far! Made a dozen of these on scrap plexiglass to put on picnic tables for a one day event at church. My first large sign 2x3 ft. Used on a table for Mother's Day at church My Grandsons bedroom wall. I added more since this picture was taken. Fabric banner-letters cut with cricut

Chrissy, I will gladly share the file. It is one I found on the internet somewhere. At the moment I can't remember where. With my cricut and a program Sure Cuts Alot, I use svg files. I believe this file was a dingbat or font. motherandchild.svg motherandchild.svg

Very nice work and work space!

Best wishes on your new adventure!

I pop in everyday and read the forum, but very seldom post. I don't have a business or a commercial cutter. I use a cricut to cut vinyl for craft projects. I find the information here very helpful, and if I used files other than svg, I'd more than willing to share.

I made these with my (don't laugh) cricut machine for our church parking lot. Was the first thing I ever cut out of vinyl. Took longer to dig the holes than to make up the signs!

No pay. I donated my time and supplies.
