I take a photo and edit, edit, edit, edit, and edit some more, before I can cut it, then yes only weed the inside. and put it on a mirror. and use armour etch, I haven't had any luck with LiveTrace in Illustrator. it just does not get the detail I want, and even with inkscape 's trace, I dont cut with it, I use the live trace in my software that came with my plotter, and yes it's a lot of work getting the detail just right, sometimes I use 2 or 3 different programs when I do them, NutttSo

the photo to decals are weeded just like any other vinyl cut decal, the glass etching you put the decal on the mirror and use armour etch wait 5 min and wash it off then take off the decal. NutttSo

That one was not to bad it took two days on and off working on it before I got it right, Now this one took two weeks, but got an order for 8 decals and 8 etched mirrors NutttSo

I agree all 3, just keep in mind it takes a while to build up a customer base, I started the vinyl business over a year ago and am just now getting repeat calls, just do good work and charge a fare price and you can make it, NutttSo

After hand painting signs for 20 years as The Sign Lady, and now doing small signage Decals and Stickers. I wanted a name everyone would remember, it is easy to stick vinyl lettering or a decal on just about anything, I came up with "Stickertoit" even tho I sell on the net, in town I hear I know you, your Stickertoit, so I guess it stuck lol. Hi, I am doing the Photos to Decals, and was going to charge $19.99 for them. but some have said that is to low of a price to charge. Awww NEVER GIVE UP!!! maybe you are trying to hard, step back and take it one step at a time, a good clear graphic will trace good in inkscape. or even your plotters software, start with something with very little or no detail and when you get that pat. move up to more and more detail. I know you can do it, if this Nuttty Old Lady can. YOU! can. I think I am moving to your neck of the woods. if I could get that much out of the Photo to Decals lol NutttSo

Some have asked How I am doing them and wanting me to give instructions on how. and I don't want everyone thinking I'm mean for not letting you know, the thing is I have only been doing them for a few weeks, I was trying to do the profiles like I seen done in the topic "mY GIRLFRIEND AND i" well I never got the profiles to turn out right. but seen I could get more detail in the pic, so I played with it and am still learning, it is not as easy as it seams. when I get it down pat I will try to explane to all how to do it in the right place on the forums here ok. I have a Endura Cut Plus 24in, it does great on small cuts, I have pair of glass's I use can't see further than a foot in front of me with them but works great seeing close up, Dazzel Me email me a photo and I will do one for you, no charge, my email is stickertoit@yahoo.com

No I made a vinyl mask and etched it in with Armour Etch, was fun weeding such a small graphic, NutttSo

The hardest part is getting the detail in the faces, and the weeding, hubby says I am going to go blind weeding the tiny cuts, lol I seen on the forum here about making the mask for glass etiching, I had no idea it could be done with vinyl, so I tryed it on a cup, my daughter inlaw Loves Dale Earnhardt jr so I tryed him, this one I flubed up, I put his dads sig on it had to do it over, sent hubby back to the store to get me more cups, the pic does not show all the detail on it. ThorsFoundry are you the one doing the mirrors?? if you would like I can set up some photos for you, NutttSo

sorry I wish I could, but it's not a step by step process, depending on the photo it could take hours getting the settings just right for it to trace right, then you have print and scan it back to clean it up so there will not be lots of tiny cuts, some photos will work right off others can be a pain, NutttSo

photo.net and inkscape, ya have to play with it a lot to get it just right, then print and scan before you can cut it, it's kinda hard to explane how to do it Nutttso

Thanks for the warm welcome, I can't remember how I found this forum but have come to visit everyday and love seeing what everyone has made, and have tryed a few of the ideas found here, ya all do GREAT Work. I was a sign painter for 20 years and I guess the stroke was a god send because I don't have to hang by my toenails from a latter anymore, I let my cutter do all the work lol. if it's ok I will post some of my work, NutttSo
