  1. Hey Tory,

Did you get the fonts yet? I just read a post somewhere that said some of the fonts this person downloaded will not load in sign blazer. Dont know what the font was or where they got it but it does concern me...I dont want to pay for these monograms and they dont show up!!

I have a silly monogram question for ya! I know the middle ( large) letter is your last name initial, the smaller letters is what stumps me, is it husbands first name initial and the second letter your first name initial? or is it your first name initial and your middle name initial? what is the correct way to do it? Thanx for the help!

  2. Tracy,

thanx for asking this question as I too have a roland sticka 12 ans was wondering if i would be able to use the files I have accumulated. I'm waiting on my pcut to get here but I got the software that comes with the cutter ( signblazer) not the flexi one. I sure hope i can use my cut files with it!

  3. I have never seen any group buy specials, wall vinyl is not to awful outragious unless you buy the cricut vinyl ;). Cricut vinyl is nothing more than oracle brand or avery, I'm not sure which Id have to look ( yup I have some of it LOL)

I know what you mean Pepper about the cricut being so limited in designs as well as size, I havent touched mine since discovering the world outside of cricut! Its a great machine for scrapbooking and making cards etc but not for much else!

Shop around for the vinyl, lots of places carry it!

  4. I have TWO myself and they hurt like hell, but i have a low threshold for pain ( go figure that I have 4 kids!) My DH has a few, all three of my sons have tattoos, one especially has many many tattoo, legs, arms, chest, back, going up his neck <sigh> He is addicted, I guess as long as he doesnt start on his face he is ok! LOL! I made them all wait till they were 18 and I really hope my daughter who is 11 and says thats so gross never changes her mind...lol. A friend of my youngest son went as far as getting a bar code tattooed on the back of his neck. He is now in the marines and let me tell you he almost didnt get in because of it!

As someone else said just make sure he really really likes whatever he gets, it's there for life!

Mine are very small and cannot be seen unless im wearing shorts or a bathing suit, I have red ink on one of mine thats on my shoulder and it itched and it itched terribly, went to the doctor and he said I may be alergic to the red dye and it may have to be removed. He gave me some meds and luckily for me it cleared up!

I will not get anymore though, two is enough for me!

A clean place is a must!

    Sterile needles ( new)

and dont let it scare ya if the artist has crazy colored spiked hair, a ton of piercings and covered in tattoos! LOL!!

    Good luck!

  7. It definetly is a great machine for basic scrapbooking and such, its the add ons that kill you, I loved mine and still do just dont have the time to use it! The cartridges are not too bad when you get them on sale. Mustang tell your wife to go to the cricut.com community, there is alot of info and some awesome creations, in fact its alot like this place , a good forum though it is full of women and well you know what happens when you have alot of women in a group...always someone stirring up sh*t, backstabbing and silly stuff going on...lol. There are approx 3 guys over there  that are into scrapbooking, and well I will zip my lip and keep my opinions to myself...

when i first got my cricut it was just the machine and the cartridges, thats it, now they have software and different kinds of blades and blade housing so you can get a deep cut and make your own rubber stamps and cut thicker material, the cricut software is really user friendly and while you still have to use the cartridges it allows you to do more with the cartridges etc etc. then some guy created a program that you have to use in conjunction with inkscape in order to get the cricut to cut true type fonts etc and on and on it goes....lol.

  8. Aries,

Being the owner of not one...but TWO cricuts...let me tell you this, Its a good machine for home crafters, scrapbookers etc. Decorate YOUR walls, do a few car decals, thats fine, but to try and do them professionally by the dozens, I wouldnt recommend it! Will get way to expensive, you cant run the machine without the cutting mats, they come two in a pack and have to be replaced alot. If you choose to link the machine using inkscape AND the other program you have to purchase as well as the design studio software for the cricut, provocraft will not honor the warranty.

to break it down for you    Cricut machine: 300.00

cutting Mats : 20.00 for two of the 12X24 Last about a month worth of normal scrapbooking before having to be replaced

Cartridges :  99.00 when not on sale for the full size and 60.00 for the smaller carts

Design Studio Software: 69.00 can only use the key ONCE if something happens and you have to reinstall you have to call customer service to get another key. ( people have been on the phone for hours to get thru and they are not open on the weekends) LOL

Blades and misc tools ( such as spatula to scrape off the very sticky cutting mat) to start with i would say 40.00

Inkscape and the other program you need to to cut true type fonts. Inkscape is FREE but the other program is not. its 80.00 or 90.00 I think and you have to have both inkscape AND the other one to even use it.

Constantly have to buy sticky mats and blades.

always have to have a cartridge in the machine to even run it.

your initial investment will be well over 600.00 and thats not counting the vinyl! then you will have the ongoing costs!

My advise would be to go with a uscutter especially if all you want to do is vinyl!

    Just my 02.

I havent used my cricuts in over 4 months!

  9. Hey cohesion!

Trust me, I wasnt insulted at all, and i did not take it that way! I was laughing at the post! It is a good brainless machine as it comes but with a little knowledge you can actually use inkscape and another program to do other cuts. Not meant to be a business machine at all. For the home crafter it is perfect as well as pricey! I have to say that this industry is one of the best kept secrets because I had no idea it even existed! I stumbled into it when I purchased a tshirt in a box biz.....and but wow, that was a joke initself but all is not lost because it led me here!! I had alot of growing pains to my wallet to get thru and will go thru alot more I am sure! I just took the long way! It really all began with the cricut, my stepping stone so to speak!

With all that being said.....anyone wanna buy a cricut or two??? hows about an itty bitty geoknight press with worthless software??? LMAO!! J/K

    Renee

  10. thats exactly right Firemalt! that is why i have not used the cricut since getting the roland and ordering the pcut...lol! Definetly not a good machine for anything other than scrapbooking/papercrafts.

I have no time to anything else, when I'm not making shirts or cutting, I'm on here...lol, Not enough hours in the day! If and when im able to find the time/ desire to scrapbook again i will use my cricut but you can bet i will not buy anymore cartridges most escpecially the vinyl they sell for a rediculous price!
