  4. Hey all. I just thought I would share an experience that I had with siser easyweed and hopefully save someone else the vinyl I had wasted. I use siser easyweed alot and had a job to do, so I go thru my regular routine of setting up my vinyl and my cutter etc etc. My star of life graphic is about 14.5 wide by lets say 20 inches. well i cut the graphic and it ran off the vinyl. I have cut this design about 50 times already with no changes in it at all. So I chalked it up to the fact maybe my blades starting point was off, i set it up to cut again and same thing happened. hmmm.....now I have wasted approx 2 feet of vinyl. so i check all the settings, make the graphic a little smaller and cut yet again with the same results! Now I'm starting to get pi**ed lol. I finally did what I should have done long before all the wasted vinyl and that was to grab a measureing tape and measure the width of my 15" vinyl and discovered it was in fact 14.5"! I then grabbed all my siser easyweed and measured it and out of 12 rolls, all but 2 were not 15". only 2 rolls were a true 15 inches. I called my supplier and told them my problem, they were really good about it, called me back an hour later and this is what they told me: Siser easyweed is imported from italy in 39 inch rolls, it gets cut here in the us and is rarely a true 15 inches BUT 14.5 is excessive so they are supposed to be replacing the roll i ruined. I'm still not clear on why it is sold as being 15 inches if it is not 15 inches. Doesnt that smack of false advertising? My supplier is Speciality Graphics ( because of the fast shipping and great customer service) uscutter takes a long time to get to me and thats why I do not order my vinyl from them. Just to clarify I do order from uscutter when I'm not in a hurry for supplies. I now measure ALL my vinyl and set up my cutter accordingly but it still kind irks me that only a small % of my vinyl is 15 inches wide. Anyone else have this experience? Renee

    Happy Mother's Day!

Thanx! I will extend my warm wishes for a great day to all moms, step moms, mother inlaws and GRANDMA'S LOL!! Today I recieved a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my son who is currently working in Korea, and I kinda cringed because the flowers came from the local florists but I know he paid double by using FDC or something similar instead of calling one of his brothers and telling them to get em...<sigh> they do smell good though...lol! While I do appreciate them and him, I cant help worrying bout how they spend thier hard earned money. Have a great day everyone! Renee

ohhh... I'm scared of Craigslist, may be more killers out there! Renee
  10. Hey Muddy, The Fed ID was free and if the state ID cost anything it was minimal but i think that was free as well. It cost me 35.00 for a town biz license and it did cost me to file the DBA with the state but again it wasnt very much, once i got the dba certificate i filed that with the county office. It wasnt too bad really, if someone could just give you a check list with what was required and what order you had to do it in is pretty painless. Our town officials are not the brightest bulbs in the pack and the chamber of commerce is a joke. That was the first place i went and I was told Duhhhhh, I dunno. But he sure was in my shop after i opened with his hand out, come join the chamber...i laughed and said what for? He didnt attempt to help me when i went asking so i have no use for him or them. Anyhow, once you apply for everything it only takes a couple of weeks before you have everything in order to run your biz! Renee
  11. I had the same problem as you did no one here knew what I needed to do! I ran in circles for about a week till someone told me to go to the Federal site first and get a fed tax id number. In Virginia, you cant do anything without that. I discovered a web site that will do it all for you, for a "small fee" of course...lol. Next step I filed with state ( I think you have to have your federal id number to do that. (All this can be done online) once I had both of those numbers I got a biz license thru the town I have my store in. I also registered with the county/state for a ficticious name certificate. Unless your real name is in the name of your business you have to have that. I have to pay sales tax once a month to the state and they forward whatever to the city/town. I think thats about it! Good Luck, Renee

    Letters look distorted

I have a pcut, the x and y tells your machine where to start cutting. on the lcd screen, when you have the x and y showing you can use the left and right keys to move your cutting blade, once you have it where you want it to start cutting ( usually the far right) hit the middle button so the x and y read 0. that will be your starting point to begin cutting. place the machine back online and cut. if you use the arrow the arrow keys to place the blade where where you want it to cut and place it back online without hitting the middle button the blade will not stay where you put it, it will go back to the place it was before you moved it. Hope this helps! Renee
  13. I have never heard of the rainbow so sorry cant help you with that! Renee
  14. Hey Rodger! Flexi Starter is just what it says...STARTER. You cant really do much within the program. You have to spend the BIG BUCKS in order to get all of the cool features of Flexi, and really who has 2500 to spend on a program? LOL!! Not me thats for sure! So I hunkered down and learned my way around SBE, Still got alot to learn but I'm learning as I go. My hubby is sending me corel draw so hopefully I can pick that up with not alot of difficulty. We will see. I did send you a PM Rodger just before I read this lol. I am pretty satisfied with Sign Blazer for now but I am going to check out sign cut, like someone else said, I have a sickness, I like to try out different programs especially if they have a full working trial. Renee
  15. ditto I have to agree as well, when I first got signblazer with my pcut I hated it! I mean I really hated it...lol. Now its several months later and I think its the next best thing next to sliced bread...lol. You would be amazed at what it can do...lol. Renee

sure is, I use this program alot! you can actually save it as a jpg. under file go to save as, a drop down menu will appear and you will see your choices. Here is a flyer I did for the rescue squad, I have it saved as a pub file and a jpg file. This works well as most computers can open a jpg file. hope this helps! Renee

    Vinyl colors

I mainly use white, black, navy blue and some red but when I order I will order one or two feet of different colors to try out. I have had alot of raves for the electric orange, wow that looks awesome on black. I like the florescent pink, blue and orange as well but the electric colors are a big hit. Renee
  23. I have never had the issue you are having but I use siser easyweed material and I prepress the shirt for 5-8 seconds depending on how much moisture seems to be in the shirt when i press it, then my press is set to 302 degrees, and i press for for 15 seconds. peel the backing while its hot and its done. I'm not sure why you are pressing it for a second time, I only do that if I'm doing more than one color and if thats the case i press the first color for about 10 seconds, peel the backing apply the second color and press again for 15 sec. you may be cooking the shirt too long with the second press?? I have a mighty press so I'm not sure about your press. Renee
