  1. So I'm been searching through he forum the past couple days trying to learn all I can about graphic design for vehicles.

What I have learned is that 1. it seems there is a fairly limited source of readymade graphics for newer cars (compared to other type graphics) and 2. if you want to design them you need to either have a picture or an outline of the vehicle so you can scale the graphic to size. That's fine, I even found some outlines in AI format, my question is what now?

How do I go about taking the outline and drawing whatever graphic I am needing, scaling it to size then vectorizing it? Maybe there is a tutorial out there that I missed, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I have the adobe suite CS4, and SBE and Inkscape.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I can see if I can get one. It was e-mailed to me by my Father-In-Law he needs it for a v-day gift for my Mother-In-Law. That is the largest one I have though for now.

EDIT: No go on the larger file. Looks lke that is the only thing I have to work with. Thanks so much to everyone who is trying to help me out, it is really appreciated.

  3. Well that looks exactly like what I was able to do, but if you look the sides are not mirrored. It is especially noticeable at the bottom. If you look at that image and then the original you will see what I mean. That is what has been frustrating me, the design has lots of intricate lines that don't want to convert over.

  4. Thanks for the complements. To LevlHartzog, yes she is wanting different quotes going all the way around the room, forming a kind of border by the ceiling. She is an English major so has lots of literary ideas. (Although if anyone has a really good quote feel free to toss it into the ring).

  5. Thanks for the complements guys, I got the first bit of the wall art done tonight. I'll post pics once it's installed.

The weeding is getting easier even after just the fourth graphic.

  6. Hey guys, like the title says I'm looking for the 4 Rock Band Icons. There's a Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocals (pic of a mic).

If anyone has these, I'd greatly appreciate it, Thanks.

EDIT: I feel like an idiot, I was doing a google search for the wrong terms.

Ok, so I found the image, but even after exporting it as an .eps when I try to import it in SBE I can see it,

but when I try to cut it sees it as a bitmap and won't do anything. What am I doing wrong?

  7. Yes, the RadioShack ones usually are rebadged Unidens. I've had several since I'm am/was a ham radio operator, (hence KE5AFU)  Right now the digital ones are a pretty good deal, they were $500, but RS has them clearanced out for $350. Check with your local store though, a lesser model might still work, they should be able to program it for you. If they won't ask for the manager (since sometimes employees don't know how, if he doesn't know how ask what store in the area does, and buy it from that store, don't take the scanner from one store and have another store do all the work. It used to happen to us all the time, until we started charging the other stores for us programming the scanners that they were too lazy to do.)

Thanks on the welcome, I'm sure I'll be having lots of questions in the coming days, especially on pricing.

  8. Lol, np.

I used to be a RadioShack manager so, it's all pretty commonplace to me.

What type scanner do you have? That will let me know if it is compatible or not.

The freqs posted are not and won't be digital. The link I provided is digital. Basically while an analog scanner can pick up the basic freqs posted you will hear very little chatter on them as opposed to the digital freqs. With a digital unit you can specify exactly what you do and don't want to hear. E.g. if you want police but not fire, or even if you want police but only car-to-car and not tactical you can do that as well.

  9. Hey guys, I've been looking around for the past couple days and everyone seems to be very informative.

I just picked up a US 721, and am brand new to cutting so I'm sure lots of questions will follow in the next few days.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone.

  10. Below are some basic frequencies, but it looks like most of the state is on a trunked system.

If your scanner can do trunking, look here http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4076

As far as antennas go, here is the best one RadioShack offers, http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103160

    Second best - http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103641

And, if you want a good one, but don't want to install something outside, try this one. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103159
