Well, my laptop died friday evening. Dead to the world the "Black Screen of Death". I'm hoping to find a computer place in town that can revocer all my files soe I can load then on the desktp which is slower but uses the com port. Will have to save money to get a new computer. The toss up is another laptop or a desktop? Laptops usally don't have com ports. So, I leaning towards a desktop model.

Normally what I do is take my image that's in CorelDraw and save it as a .svg file. Then use Inkscape to convert it to .eps file. Then I inport it into SB and do my work with to clean it up and save it as a .sbg file. It's a hassle but it works for me. Inscape by the way is a free download.

I use the Venture vinyl. It has a matte finish ansd airbrush paint holds up well on it. I tried it on Oracal 651 but it's to glossy and the paint tend to puddle up and not stick. I'm sure if you scuff it up it might work but then the shine is gone off the vinyl.

First off I would like to say THANK YOU to your spouse for protecting this great country of ours. I have the MH 871 and use SB and the standard Vista on my laptop. I don't know too much about the 32 bit version, but I have not had any major problems with regular Vista.

I'm using SignBlazer with Flexi Starter on my laptop with Vista. It can be picky at times. I just make sure all settings match.
In Sb on plotter settings:
Baud Rate: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Cobtriol: Hardware
Com 4: USB Serial Port
Then in your Device Manager look for the following:
Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers:
USB Serial Converter:
On the Advance tab my VCP is checked. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problems.
The check under COM (Com&Lpt):
It should so USB Serial Port (*) *meaning what ever port you're using. Mine happens to be Com 4.
Then check it's properties to make sure they match what you have in SB or any other program you're using.
Hope this helps.

This is a pic of a custom made lic plate holder for a bike that's in a bike show this weekend in Las Vegas. The chromer did a very poor job. I was asked if I could do something. I had this sample piece from Oracal. It covers up the bad chrome job and I did some pinstriping along the edge to hide the vinyl line.

It's hard to go serial nowadays because most of the new computers just have usb ports. When mine freezes I just unplug the usb and start all over. Have lost a lot of vinyl because of freezing.
