    Oracal Chrome vinyl

This is a pic of a custom made lic plate holder for a bike that's in a bike show this weekend in Las Vegas. The chromer did a very poor job. I was asked if I could do something. I had this sample piece from Oracal. It covers up the bad chrome job and I did some pinstriping along the edge to hide the vinyl line.
  2. After reading several postings here I see that cutter pressures are varied. They range from 40 to 100's. I'm using Oracal 651 and have mine set at 110. The blade is adjusted to where you can see about 1/16". I've played around with different settings and found that 110 cuts the best. So, am I missing something or is it just my plotter that likes this setting?

    Oracal 351 Metallized polyester 1mil

I got this as a free sample from them. I got to use it today on a custom chromed license plate frame on a custom bike that had a bad chrome job. Guy needed done like today because it goes to a bike show this weekend up in Las Vegas. It matches the chrome really good. I give it

For that job I give you
  8. Sometimes you can use the backward compatiblity feature of Vista. After installing Flexi right mouse click on the icon and then click the compatibilty tab. There you can select windows XP SP2 and it should run. Again, there could be a problem where it won't run that way either but I say give it a try.

    No Power!!!

First thing I would look at would be the fuse next to the plug on the plotter. If that's not it I call USCutters.

    This stinks!

I'm using SignBlazer with Flexi Starter on my laptop with Vista. It can be picky at times. I just make sure all settings match. In Sb on plotter settings: Baud Rate: 9600 Data Bits: 8 Parity: None Stop Bits: 1 Flow Cobtriol: Hardware Com 4: USB Serial Port Then in your Device Manager look for the following: Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers: USB Serial Converter: On the Advance tab my VCP is checked. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problems. The check under COM (Com&Lpt): It should so USB Serial Port (*) *meaning what ever port you're using. Mine happens to be Com 4. Then check it's properties to make sure they match what you have in SB or any other program you're using. Hope this helps.

    Magnetic signs I did

Thanks for all of your inputs. As far as the alignment of the phone numbers that is what the customer wanted. So, I do what the customer wants, he's paying for it. I'm new to the vinyl business and have done a lot of searching on the net to see what others charge for magnetic signs. I do a pair for $59. As far a 4"x7" RTA stickers I charge $1 each. I've found that the economy now plays a big part as what customers are willing to pay. So, I tend to work with them to get their business. My MH-871 has darn near paid for itself in the last 2 weeks. I'm a pinstriper and custom painter by trade and that has really slowed down and I started to do more vinyl work to pay for the plotter I bought.

    Magnetic signs I did

I just typed everything in centered. I charged $25 setup fee and then $110 for all 4 signs.

    Got my Oracal 651 vinyl

After starting out with the BGS vinyl (which was fun to learn with) I love the lighter feel of the Oracal 651. It weeds faster and cuts better. Already made 100 stickers for the local bike shop.

    size chart

I did with the eps file that was posted on this site. I think it looks good.
  18. Thanks for this info. I tried this and now my paper and vinyl track within 1/8" at 4 feet. I don't do much long cuts but this was excellent info.
  19. Some more plates I just finished.

Two new Lic tags for local Harley Shop

I got the logo off of their business card. The persone that did the origanl logo had passed away and his family took the computer it was on. So, they asked a few years back if I could do something with it.

My first true vinyl 2 color window sticker

Thanks for all the comments. Not to put down other vinyl sign or sticker makers, but this guy I made it for went to several places in Alabama and all of them told him they do not do custom work. They had no rollback wreckers in their graphic files and they would not look for one either. So, their loss is my gain I guess.

  24. Does anyone know where to find a vectorized graphic of this style truck. I need to have it where it's angled like it coming towards you. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Frank
