I am back from a 2 week well deserved sunny holiday without cutter and putter. But that does not take away my brains are not working. Kimon regarding the new features in Pro. 1] Would it be possible to make a section where the cutter could be tested with out knife down? So if machine does not work just start PRO to test USB or serial communication and go to the cut section and mark "TEST WITH KNIFE UP". This saves putting in a scrap vinyl or the pen plotter for simple diagnostics. 2] The new pro has the animation function to see what the cutter does very very very nice. Guys if you not have tried this give it a go. All functions set are taken in account. But if people complain that in some large jobs the machine freaks and destroys vinyl as it randomly stops or makes funny cuts. Maybe less in the pro version due to the new way to dump the data but.... For trouble shooting would it be an idea to have a KNIFE UP function just to see if repeatable problems with large jobs can be cured without destroying vinyl? The machines with a laser pointer could use the light spot of the laser pointer as the knife spot instead of the position of the knife? Let us know your opinion. Do not know if other users are liking this knife up and test fucntion too. Just my 2 cents, Paco

If you replug your USB on the PC in an other slot you MUST re-assign the software (SBE) to the new virtual port. The ports do not swicth back and forth automaticly in the software cutting programs. Some cutters now aday only come with USB connection only. Most current laptop pcs are only comming with USB ports! Some laptops have PCMCIA or EXPRESS ports which can carry a serial 9 pin card adapter. You might also have a look in the PC or laptop BIOS and switch off any sleepmode/savemodes or other funky settings for the USB ports. This is a nightmare for all other USB devices too. I hope this is step in the rigth drection. Paco

Those are the standard settings from the factory and when you reset the machine manually. Also check the X/Y offset of the cutter. Send with a plotter pen a 155x150 mm rectangle to a A4 size paper and measure the size. If it is off, correct the machines X/Y settings untill it is correct. You can use a normal caliper to measure the size in 0.1 mm resolution. This will be the base for all cuts you will do. If you correct by one program only you might have different outcomes everytime. Write this setting on a piece vinyl and stick it on the machine. if problems occurs first check if the setting is still OK. Then start to check the offset of the kife in the software. And then you have to use some vinyl and raise the offset in 0.1 mm increments from zero and see the results. If the steps are to high go to 0.05 mm incremets and so on. Try some small cuts over the full witdh of the machine not just in the right handside corner. Paco

I did mesh with the head already for the laser point connection so the cover was removed already more then once and I checked for play in the part that moves up and down and carries the knife holder.! I also have som play but do not knwo if this is inside the specs of the machine as it was from the start this way. But I am stupid engineer so have to be told by pictures first. Put in a plotter pen and set the offset at zero and try to see if this goes ok with same file. Saves vinyl in the first place and the first thing to start with when debugging such kind of errors. Let us know if this works. Paco

Is the cut file filled with a color? If it is empty and outline only it will show in SCX2 but not work in some cases. And check if the baudrate of the machine is same as the cutter setting and SCX2 setting. I had this last one yesterday too by hitting a few times the cutter buttons without looking. Paco

The Producitivity PRO version of Signcut now has the 3 marker option and deviation compensation!!!! Way to go for those who are contour cutting with a laserpoint machine regularly but do not like to buy a OPOS or ARMS equipped machine. http://www.signcutpro.com/ I have used it for small A4 and larger files upto A2 size and it was on in resonable tolerance. Setting up each contour cut is 45 seconds maximum. Paco

Monochrome means ONE color. So after you have monochromed a full color picture/image and vectorized it you have to recolor the separated vector parts by manual color change. Or use Corel X4, Inkscape (free) or other vectorizing programs that can convert full color from picture to vector file. http://vectormagic.com/home is an option too not free but not expensive if you do not have tracing vectorizing program. Dear Kimon and others, Yesterday evening I got the time to go further. I restarted the PC and the new license was accept and it now runs in normal mode. As contour cut is why I use SC 99%, I fully concentrated on this. I first did some test with the SC simple contour cut sample and a plotter pen in advanced contour cut mode. They looked 100% OK. I also received some prints from the print shop that needed to be contour cut. So I put in the print and went to X4 to load the cut layer file. Marked the 3 point option for registration marks and put registration mark size for contour cut at 0 as this is how my cut layer is set up, just a color filled square for making the registration marks. Send the cut layer file to signcut PRO and opted for the advanced contour cut. Set the 3 markers and although it was put a little skewed in the cutter when I was done with the three points it nicely returned to the 1st marker point spot on. So it already compensated for all the variable like skew and change in size. The printout was on the X axis a 2 mm smaller then the original file length so I also had to use the arrow keys get the marker points at the correct place. Then I hit cut and prayed for a good result as I cant recut these prints. But the pray was not needed WHOW on the spot it was contour cutting exact where it should even when the original file and the printed was put skewed in the cutter and the sizes of the printout were also a little off. Hi Kimon, Now things regarding SC support are to fast to handle for me The FAQ is perfect and detailed but not yet linked from the FAQ menu structure (twice quickfaq in the link?). To me it looks more customer satisfaction if you try to prevent by the PDF error message itself. This reduces people to read the FAQ. BTW I send a screen shot with english text that could be translated in Dutch. I will test tomorrow the rest of the CONTOUR CUT functions for this PRO version when the testmode is disabled. This one click problem is solved Kimon, one of the guys already mentioned the sequence. When I once manually export as .ai as described I have to choose as a version 8 file. All newer illustrator versions give the PDF file error message. Maybe clever idea to tell in the error message the solution directly to put it in Illustrator 8 or lower version extension. If you do not and people only try once version 9 they might think OH something wrong and see this as a fault. Now with the 8 version setting all CRD files send with the SEND TO SIGNCUT button are nicely imported. Now I can go furhter with the test of SC PRO. Thanks and regards, Paco

Dear Kimon, Update for the use of PRODUCTIVITY version. On the desktop I had a version running downloaded a month ago. I tried to use it last Thursday and when I hit SEND IT TO SIGNCUT from Corel X4 the file was taken to Signcut PRO without any problem. Contour cut was not working so I quited this. Then you asked me Saturday to download the latest PRO version so I did. Uninstalled the old version. Installed the PRO 1.00 Win version and checked if it communicate with test cut from signcut Pro and it did. So I started X4 and send simple square box of 9x9 cm with the plug in button. Then the message appears when sign cut opens that I have to convert to EPS or AI file. I haven

Ok, Same porblem here. Tried previous Pro version and when I hit the SEND IT TO SIGNCUT button it converted the file automaticly and showed in Pro version. It was a simple square box of 9 x cm as restiction is 10x10 cm. Installed the latest pro version 1.00 win and got same problems as described by Designed. One good thing about the plug in is that it is (WAS) just one click. If you now have to convert to other file first this is not PRODUCTIVITY but the other way around. Have not made a ticket yet, will do this evening. Regards, Paco

Dear Kimon, Thanks for your swift answer. Tickets and other emails from SC are answered. I my non cutting job I have to do customer support too 4 days a week;D So I know how things can go wrong and sometimes you have to hit a certain button to get things going again. I hope the other guys problems overhere are solved soon too. But I have all the confidence they will be solved. Understand that producing a ticket is the number one thing to do. I downloaded the SBE for USCUTTER and installed. When I try to import any file that SBE can import I cant see the files in the folder. I saved it as EPS. I am sure the EPS is there there but there are no details of the files names to select. I tried on other PC same result. Even if I like to use OPEN and browse to a SB file it is not shown. See schreenshot What do I do wrong? Paco
