that was a good post there terry, very informative...i missed the whole thing. this has been my first busy year so far....well what i call busy. last year was just piddly here and there, didn't make squat....not even the 400 required to file taxes. However, this year is different i will have to PAY next year. the DBA is called a merchant license here....had me scared there for a moment, i had to check...lol i opted not to register my business as i am the only one and don't have any employees, so i just pay tax by my social. i don't charge tax either, i just figure into total and put so much back to pay taxes at the end of the year. for me, this isn't to make a living off of.....at least not right now. just part time and more of a hobby, got alot more to learn before i make a living off it. lue anne

i did 4 of those last year....and they still blew off the man's truck. i saw him the other day and asked why he had black tape around the edges for awhile and he proceeded to tell me he lost 2 of them, each in different towns.....lol well not funny, so i have to make him some new ones. one got run over and scuffed up and the other ripped. it was fall and he said they hadn't had time to conform to his truck so he taped them on there til they did. on pricing...i called a local shop and he told me it cost 80 for a 12x24 magnet, yet i asked for a set of 12x12 and he was only going to charge me 42.50 for 2 color set.....that didn't make sense to me. i have had customers tell me he'll give them a deal the first time to get their business then go higher the next time, so i can't use his prices to go by.....lol lue anne

ok, here's one for ya guys...and gals what about 9...10' x 16" black lettering? they were 10 foot long and the letters for the signs were anywhere from 11" to 14" wide. what would you have charged for 9 of those? he put them on himself. i have a 2007 price book but when i went by it on sq ft or ea letter size it was an ungodly price....well at least i thought it was...lol i had a 10" scrap on each one i made, so should i charge for just what i used...how do i figure that? i have found that you don't always use your scraps and there is waste, so how do you determine something like that? thanks lue anne

i have done that quite a bit for myself to apply, only i don't use registration marks....havent' mastered that yet...lol the only thing once in awhile you'll get air bubbles with doing it dry. i have applied them wet without getting the paper wet and sometimes not. lol it also saves on app tape doing it that way. lue anne

i am a little late into this issue....lol i too have had transfer tape issues. i have been through 4 or 5 different ones, i am on the mactac paper right now and although once in awhile i'll get a wrinkle, i can peel it up and re lay it. i have found for me the poly tape is a nightmare....lol i also have found that stress levels, being tired from long hours and just plain off days, can add wrinkles too where normally you wouldn't have them....lol i think most of my problem is consistancy in using the tape, i have 3 part time jobs and then what needs to be done around my house, so it is always a challenge for me. lol however, the conform was next on my list to try. thanks for the info lue anne

if you use a shareware version that has crack numbers there is a way to use it. i beleive you have to install it off line, and place it in your registry. i don't know the process as i am not that smart....lol

thanks for the step by step! found one of the problems i was having trying to do that. didn't realize you had to separate, then save... my inkscape doesn't have update on it, i just click preview. however, it does have image brightness-edge detection- quantization/reduction and multiple scanning.....what do i choose? it will only let you select 1. i did my linclon arc welder pics and they are so yucky, they need to be cleaned up bad! and of course i don't know how to do clean up on vectored stuff. thanks lue anne

i am trying to vector these.... i have tried the import and i can't remember the process to save as eps i am doing this in corel and when i save as cdr it won't come up in signcut. can someone explain how to do this? please.... many thanks! lue anne

thanks terry!!! how can i separate those others? i have tried and i won't allow me to ungroup or anything. mustangconv85...when i tried tracing it didn't trace clean. what steps do i need to take? i tried the trace and then tried to export it and it came up empty, i think i am missing a step somewhere. have you asked the suppliers about their shipping dates? i am in missouri and i order holographic from n. carolina and it only takes 2 days....they say 3 days but i get it in 2 which i think is pretty good. oh, the first order did take 3 days but after that it's only taken 2. the one i can order from and get it next day don't carry everything i need. lue anne

he is from columbia mo....he started racing at 24 raceway in moberly, mo....dirt track...went from there to nascar...pretty cool...i looked for stuff for him also and couldn't find any. found alot of the other drivers on brands of the world but not him. just my 2 cents...

lol i did...but the plate that covers the hole is a rounded triangle and 7 rivets and 3 layers of vinyl. lol, that's why the kid brought it to me, they call me the rivet lady.....LOL i read the post on how to do the rivets and it works beautifully!! and i am SOOOO thankful for that post!!!!! that was just too many in such a small area for my liking...lol course i stacked the first to colors of vinyl before i put them on and it didn't help trying to do them with 2 layers. thanks lue anne

good job teresa!!!!! you ARE a fast learner! it also helps to have good software to start out. last year i only did 3 simple cars, this year i have done 8 and a few not so simple...lol i hope to get better programs so i don't need so much help at times but it is so neat to look at the finished product when your done, isn't it keep up the good work we have been rained out for 3 weeks, the last 2 weeks we drove 3 hrs one way just so we could race. lue anne
