  1. I got a free HIX hat press a couple of years back, It was a flood find my Dad got in San Antonio and gave to me (http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,18379.0.html). It was in really really bad shape loaded with old hornet nests and in need of a new handle and partial rewire.

It now works great but I still don't use it very often and don't even push hats, HIX sure does build a tough press however...

I agree. I found an old Hix 15" heat press in an old camper at my grandmothers house about 5 years ago. Had mouse turds and nests and about a four foot snake skin in it. Dragged it out, cleaned it up and started playin. I now have been a full-time shop for over a year and it is still used in my shop daily. Good presses. Funny how that and a uscutter started it all for me. Life changing stuff. Happy New Year!

  2. yeah, on stuff like that i would cut the white solid then press the red over it. alot easier. the first color you press is always gonna shrink a little so that almost guarantees that you will have a little shirt color show thru between vinyl colors. just my 2 cents ;)

  3. Neron that looks AMAZING...why may I ask would he request 70/30 and if not intended for vehicles then what? Boats?

    Did you do the design?

    I LOVE IT!

It's not intended for vehicles for safety purposes. It is intended for store windows and such as it has fewer holes and more printable area, which equals better looking image(i am sure that is why he wanted it) but less visibility. I use it on vehicles a lot, still pretty easy to see out, but neron is right to have them sign for liability purposes in case of an accident...

  4. What I meant was that practice is mother of perfection.

Middle hinge is exactly  what Max did, with only difference, I  separate perf before cutting (less room for error)

Lamex 2 mil laminate for perf works great for me (not as good as 3M but price....)

same laminate and same method used here!

  5. I only use the felt squeegee. Never had any problems yet....I could see how using a harder squeegee could cause issues...I also use liquid laminate as well, so maybe that's why I have had better luck with the installl. How does the overlaminate you use work when it's raining? I've heard it makes it impairs the vision some...

  6. Does anyone know if JPSS makes a roll of solvent printable material? I've been reading all of the good things about the transfers that everyone has been printing with the wf 1100 and posting about. I wondered if I could get some for my solvent printer?

    Thanks, Dan

  7. Anyone ever use or happen to know the life span without laminate? Applying to aluminum for a business name change. About 2.5 inches by 19 inches. 200 signs double sided, so I really wanted to keep the cost down. But I will laminate if it going to start wrinkling and lifting in 3 months...just looking to see if anyone knows about this.. thanks, dan
