  1. Fort Wayne had the same, just recently  over guy selling cell phones.  He did several murders.  Young guy like 19-20..   Meet at a police department parking lot .

Not a bad idea, if it's on the up and up he should have no problem meeting me somewher public.  Only problem is I couldn't test them out first but for the price it's not a bad risk.

  2. jaybird - Wow, way to scare me!  Normally if I buy / sell from Craigslist for something small enough I'll ask to meet in a neutral place, someplace public.  I don't like the idea of strangers coming to my house and scoping out all my belongings.  This is why I don't bother selling cheap items, it's an easy way for people to come over and stake out my house.

  3. It's only a great deal if he actually has what he posted.  My concern is if he doesn't get back to me.  I don't have a CCW so I'll be going into a potentially bad neighborhood without unarmed so I'm a little apprehensive!

Seriously though, I'm hoping this works out, I"m not giving up on it yet!  Still haven't heard back from the seller yet.

  4. Mz SKEETER - What part sounds like an EBay violation to you, the fact that he won't ship?  I was a little confused on teh $2.32 for shipping to. I'm wondering if maybe he used a previous post as a template and that had a shipping charge in it and he didn't catch that it was also in this local pickup only ad.

I have committed to buy but had to request a new total price from the seller as when I select the pickup option the option to pay upon pickup was grayed out due to my address.  If he doesn't get back to me today I'll contact EBay to see how I back out of my committment to buy.

  5. Thanks all.  I learned a couple of things, like to hide the layer with the boundry lines so it doesn't print onto the artwork.

jaybird - As much as I hate to spend the money so soon I'm planning on order another set of cartridges very soon.

  6. Thanks to the tech support at Conde I finally got my Ricoh 3110 installed tonight.  I have to admit, at the cost of the cartridges it was a little nerve wracking firing it up the first time!

Anyway, I made a sample bag tag for my daughter's orcherstra instructor as we have been talking about doing some business together.  I might be making tags for each of their instruments as well as for the students when they go on their field trip.  I'm also working on a window decal design for the.

The "Cut the pineapple" name tag is an inside joke at work.

Not too bad for my first attempt.

  7. Looks like you can replace the heating band, for $145 dollars.  I guess the question now is if it needs to be replaced or not.  If the wear is strictly on the edges of the opeing I'm thinking it shouldn't.  I have reached out to the seller to buy it but pay in cash in person as opposed to paying now and picking up later.

Can you replace the rubber in that mug press?

  8. Can you replace the rubber in that mug press?  It might not be a problem but it looks pretty worn.  I've never used a mug press before so I'm not sure if that's normal wear and will work just fine or if it is in needs of replacing.

If I get these I'll be selling the mug press as I plan on using cactus wraps and I'd be willing to ship ;-)

  9. I've only done one storefront so far and placed a bid on a second but I heard this advice before and completely agree.  If possible get a straight on phot, take good measurements, then do your proof to scale over the actual picture.  This helped me out as much as my customer to really get an idea what the finished job will look like and help speed the design along.

...I dont know if you did this, but if not, you could have saved yourself the time of doing the job over if you had given them proofs and simple renderings of how it would look prior to cutting the vinyl. takes a bit more time but much, much less than removing and re-doing, regardless if your getting paid to do the job again. The down side do re-doing a job you've already finished is pushing your other customers delivery/install dates back to accommodate this one....

  10. In all seriousness I hoped you washed your hands real well.  I had a friend who witnessed a dog poop in his yard while being walked and his owner didn't pick it up before walking away.  My fiend picked it up and threw it at him.  He had a cut on his had and didn't wash well enough and ended up with a staph infection.

  11. I like it, nice simple design.  I've been wanting to build a light table, I already have a 24" x 24" x 1/4" piece of plexi so I'm set there.  I like this idea of this solution as I can break it down for storage if I won't need it for a while.  I'm not sure of the 45 degree tilt though as seem like you will always have to work against gravity but I'll give it a try.

  12. Thanks for the heads up madhatter.  As of right now I plan on doing mugs, bag tags, and cell phone cases and don't expect it will be high volume.  If that changes I'll batch the work the best I can and take the operation upstairs to the garage or dining room.  If push comes to shove I'll buy a small stand alone air conditioner or make big blocks of ice and put them behind some fans.

  13. I just powered on my new heat press for the first time and once it got over 300 degrees it started to smoke and have an odor.  As I don't have windows in my little workshop I'm hoping this is just because it's new and will stop eventually?

Should I take it to my garage and turn it on for a while to get all the new burnt off?

If it matters, this is the one I bought http://sunie.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=42
