    Photoshop

PS I not ideal for creating vector objects...But if you must, I suggest creating each color on a layer and copying your reg. marks to each layer. Then individually vectorize each layer. But if I were you, I'd get familiar with Illy or Corel!

thought of the day kinda funny

You quote holds true, unless you give her 90 dollars and she brings back 2 shoes
  3. No sweat...I am glad I got a chance to help YOU! It's usually the other way around... Good luck.
  4. Here are my reg suggestions... 1) Eyball, sometimes that is the best way. 2) Cut ALL the DSM logo (diamonds) out entirely in red (even the ones that will be orange) and increase your cutter pressure so you cut into part of the liner, remove the red stripes that need to be orange...Then cut the orange (using regular pressure) and mask it...Match them together using the scores in the red vinyls liner to align the orange...Then mount to the black. 3) Cut out where the orange stripes would go in the black vinyl...Place an orange square BEHIND the black. This would work best if a thin vinyl is used...

    new eagle head

    Thanks you guys!
  6. ^^^Cool, I think what threw me off with what you were saying is the "+ (add) markup" when I am thinking "x (multiply) markup". Thanks! Midwaste, I hear what you're saying...I usually don't offer a warranty unless the customer seems worried about one. But I will fix my work if it needs it b/c of my error. Thanks!

    SuperBowl Halftime Show

I missed it for the "Kitty half time show" on animal planet... It wasn't a horrible performance, but not half-time worthy. I just remember praying to God that Lil Wayne didn't come out to duet with Bruce!!! Should've gone with a cage fight or motox jump at halftime instead! I always think of the Doug Stanhope skit about Jimi dying too young when I see halftime shows
  8. I wouldn't bother making that a 4 station, just make it one color...Registrations is going to be off with that and the platen doesn't swing for multiple shirts and flashing. Cool design, I don't mean to be a negative nancy...I would say fun for a beginner, but just keep it simple with a one color setup...

    Todays work

Great stuff! Did you customize that font or is it a set one? Any pics with that graff skull fully in it
  10. Right on, but would it make sense to do less then? Sticking with my example. Say a job uses 5yds. 651=> $3/yd x 5yds=> $15 cost x 6(markup)=> $90 or $75 profit 751=> 6/yd x 5yds=> $30 cost x 6(markup)=> $180 or $150 profit So you'd double your profit b/c of a better product? Sounds good to me, but doesn't seem right (we aren't in the restaurant biz )...So maybe a 4x markup would be better?
  11. yeah, that printer is badass! It runs slow, but it goes on special water resistant/smudge proof paper...Now we stock hundreds of different die cut sizes on rolls for in house jobs and as a blank label supplier. We also now do thermal printing and do a lot of consecutive barcoding. Something you'd NEVER get done with traditional print. When things get slow these pay the bills. Another thing about vinyl cutting is IMO, most of the digital banners and signage (aside from the high end mall ads and sports complex perfed banners) look pretty washy and cheap to me...But that just might be b/c I am in "the biz" and am critical with the eye on that stuff. Something about vinyl on a banner vs. digital that just makes it pop. Market will always get flooded and only those with the drive, quality, connections and/or business plan will survive...It's a revolving door.
  12. I was wondering if you put more mark up on 751 because of its higher quality. Say you get 651 for $3/yd and 751 for $6/yd and you mark up x6 for the 651...Do you do the same x6 for the 751 mark up or do you go with x7 or less since there would be more profit in $6x6 vs. $3x6...

    New to the forum.

    Welcome Ricky!
  15. We are in the digital ages...Digital is taking over in all aspects of print. Printing is my life, I flexo print 9-5 (stickers/labels) and screen print on the side (amongst other things). I've seen digital creep in over the years. Look at DTG vs screen printing, you can't compete for 20 shirts, but go to 100 and the role is reversed. YOU HAVE TO ADAPT! My full time work took a hit with a lot of customers going to digital print. So we started subbing out to digital printers, then purchased a digital label printer http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3254791&Sku=P525-1128&SRCCODE=WEBINKPLP&cm_mmc_o=YztBBCjCmH4CjCmmVCjCmmV...Now we print digital labels AND supply digital printers with stock (since we are geared to die cut master rolls), which increased our sales (even though we lost a lot initially). And digital can't touch us with out million piece orders! Another thing I've personally found with vinyl is there is a lot of mark up, but little profit...If that makes sense? I mean you have to rely on doing a lot of jobs to get good profits. Screen printing, I can easily make a few hundred dollars on a job but would have to do 4-5 jobs to get the same profits in vinyl (At least with the work I do). *individual results may vary*

    Polyurethane over vinyl?

Rather than start a new topic, I figured I'd ask here first... I am doing a logo on a large wood plank that goes under a weight machine at a sports training facility... The old boards had cast vinyl logos on it (I am pretty sure) with no varnish. They took a beating over the years and I am redoing the logos. They then are going to put a poly varnish over it. My question is, will 651 be okay? It will be indoors with a varnish coat over it, but I am worried about the thickness being an issue...Or should I only go with 751? I plan on giving them pricing options and am pretty sure they will go with the less expensive. Also, I do not stock 751.

    Thermo Flex Vinyl

No to open a can of worms but whats the hub-bub? I must have missed that discussion...
  20. I thought about doing that, but it might stress the fish out or put them in attack mode.

    Thermo Flex Vinyl

Never used them but http://www.bestblanks.com/vinyl.html also carries it...At the moment, I personally use Eco Film from http://www.imprintables.com/index.cfm/fuseAction/dspCatalogCategory/catID/9/subCatID/145/index.html
  22. 55g might be too small for one of those bad boys... I had a Red Tiger Oscar like the one in the first vid, he would jump out of the water for food! Nasty little F'er!!! He recently died of HIH. :'(
